We stayed at Playa de Sala Nov 25 - Dec 9, 2022. Forest (who is originally from Canada) and her staff are second to none! The Boutique Hotel has 5 beautifully decorated suites, a small pool, and an incredible ocean bay view! If you want privacy, with options, this is the place. The staff is welcoming and attentive. Jose, the chef of Salas kitchen, is incredible! People come from other resorts to eat his creations on the roof top restaurant and bar. Orlando is bartender extraordinaire! Friendly, creative, humorous and fun! Melvin is so comfortable, caring, attentive, and genuine. Luis and Ernesto take care of the rooms, yard and building maintenance. These guys make one feel special and right at home. Like family.

Playa de Sala is still our go to boutique style Bed and Breakfast on Ambergris Caye in Belize. It really is a little slice of heaven. This is our third visit and we will stay here agian next year. Sitting on the edge of Tarpon Bay this 5 room resort is an incredible little place. If you are fishing person you can be picked up their dock for a an incredible day of fishing for Tarpon Bonefish Permit and more. You can go snorkeling at any number of spots near the reef. Scuba is incredible in Belize as well and this can be done at any number of fully qualified dive companies within a 5 minute drive. They can set you up with any of the mainland excursions as well so you can go cave tubing horse back riding ruin climbing and much more. They have a roof top bar for sunset viewing that we just loved. The owners are great people and will go out of their way to make the guests happy. They have Sala's Kitchen which a has wide range of lunches and dinners, both owners and their chef demand only the freshest local ingredients and it shows. The food is fairly priced and is both local and international in its recipes. Flavours litterly jump off the plates. To ask me to name one dish that was best is impossible there were so many that we tried while we stayed there for 10 days. Town is a short drive in your golfcart which they can arrange to have delivered to their place for you so there is no lost time. There is so much to do here that it is too much to mention here .. if you have questions please contact me here or Playa de Sala directly. I do recommend that if you wish to stay here to get a hold of them early .. they fill up very quickly
We would never leave if we did not have to they make you feel so special while there. Their private beach is raked daily and made into beautiful art peices many times with private messages written to the guests. we love it there

I know everyone writes about the hospitality here but it's all true. When we pulled up, we were greeted like long lost friends. You really feel like you've known these people your whole life - in a good way!! Shawn arranged for us to be picked up at the ferry docks. We emailed him a few minutes before we boarded a small plane to let him know we changed our plans from taking the water ferry to a plane. Immediately after getting our bags, we were greeted by our driver, arranged by Shawn, of course! We were given delicious frozen drinks when we stepped onto the property. I can't say enough about the staff. An amazing hearty breakfast was served to us every morning. We didn't have to tell them when we woke up. They quietly noticed us on our balcony. They served us on our balcony. From our room, we could open our eyes and see the sunrise from bed. The room has full glass over looking the water. I feel relaxed just remembering our stay. Alfredo keeps the beach raked and makes different designs in the sand each day with a smile on his face. Spartacus, the giant Great Dane, is around to make sure everything is ok. We had drinks on the rooftop deck with almost the whole staff, including Forest. She and Shawn have lots of stories to entertain. I would go back a million times over!!

I cannot say enough amazing things about this place. Forest and Sean are the owners and the best hostesses we have ever encountered. Not only are they the nicest but every detail in this hotel is so thoughtful and meticulous in the best way possible. From the hair products and make up remover in the room to the drink and hot wet towel you are greeted with when you first arrive. I wish I would have taken a picture of the room! It’s so nice and the bed was the comfiest I’ve ever slept on. The hotel is lively and decorated very well and the food and drinks are to die for. Great job Sean and Forrest. We will be back!!!

My husband and I just returned from a 7 day vacation that ended up being 13 days because we could not bare to leave. This place and the people here will always remain special to us. The accommodations and service are exceptional. The owners and staff alike became like second family. Anything we needed from cream for the coffee to an all day fishing trip was provided. The sunsets over the roof top bar are not to be missed. Ethni was there with a smile and make the best pina colada ever. We can’t say enough about the Chefs Rosie and Frank. Watching them cook and getting to know them was priceless. Ava the breakfast chef was there every morning to start the day off making sure my husband had his extra pepper and bacon. And then there’s Forest and Shaun the most gracious hosts. They provided the just the right amount of relaxation and and interaction so that you always felt you had the best of both worlds. We will absolutely be staying there again.

We couldn't be happier with our stay at Playa De Sala! The absolute best part of this hotel is the people. Sebastian, Jose, and Melvin made our stay so special with their kindness and amazing service. Every meal was delicious and Jose was kind enough to make special orders for my vegan husband.
The hotel is in its own remote location that was so peaceful to come back to after a day of touring. Our room was cleaned daily, the staff helped plan our day trips, and they kindly coordinated our trips to and from the airport. They were also very responsive to messages leading up to our travel.
Hope to be back back sometime in the future!

What a wonderful family of staff here at Playa de Sala to make you feel right at home. Forest, Joe, Yesmy, Bella, Sparticus and Rumor really made our stay special.
Upon arrival, we were shown to our gorgeous room, one of five unique rooms at this boutique resort. Their attention to detail in every corner really stood out, but what blew us away was the shower. Having a rainwater showerhead over top would have been enough to make it amazing, but this one had a fountain stream, an extendable wand, and 6 other jets that just hit every area of your body. I could go on about this shower, but this review is about the resort so let's continue. haha
This adult-only secluded resort is right on the beach with a beautiful view and an awesome rooftop hang out area for watching the beautiful sunsets. This is also the perfect place for an incredible meal, pick anything on the menu and you will be very happy.
The resort is far enough out of the San Pedro hustle that you can really relax and they rent golf carts to get around. This is definitely one of the coolest things about San Pedro, everyone drives around in golf carts.
I can't wait to go back and can't say enough good things about this beautiful resort.

My daughter, myself and our Aussie stayed for 3 days and literally were the only people staying there. It was amazing, the dog raced up and down the beach and in and out of the water for hours. The room was sea facing and had amazing sun rises. Melissa the Chef was great and no words for the roof top bar tender and how accommodating he was for us. There was no ice machine so you will have to request, it has a small fridge/coffee and tea maker and a daily breakfast that was excellent, I would recommend the scrambled eggs and fresh fruit and the portions were huge. One this on a heads up if you order coffee with breakfast you will be charged extra. This location is quiet but isolated and far from town via golf cart, at least 30 minutes. The beach is well groomed and everyone that works there was amazing. One thing I can say is there is an extra charge even if your dog is a service dog and not a lot of activity. The menu is limited but Melissa is very gracious in making other items if they have the ingredients. I would recommend this hotel if you want peace, quiet and good service but not ideal for families that want to be busy and doing activities. We tend to be foodies and San Pedro has so many amazing restaurants next time we will stay closer to town on paved roads.

My wife and I just returned from our first trip to Belize and from our stay at Playa De Sala. We had read all of the previous reviews before booking and kept seeing the same glowing comments over and over. After staying a week at the resort, I'll just say that everything is as advertised (or reviewed) so I won't be redundant about the hotel itself or the beautiful location. I'll add a little though to the compliments on the staff. They were the most attentive, friendly and welcoming we've run across on our travels. Julie welcomed us when we arrived with a smile and and drink and went over everything regarding our stay with us. Naem, Nataniel and Melvin (I apologize for any name misspellings) were excellent in both serving our meals as well as tending the bar. We looked forward to seeing them every day and being able to talk with them about Belize and learning more about their lives. The meals themselves were so good...their wasn't one that we didn't like. I'm sorry that we didn't get the cook's name but she was willing to accommodate any of our requests. Our room was spotless every day due to our smiling housekeeper (again sorry that I didn't get her name). Tyreke, who helped tend the grounds, always met us with a smile and even checked the gas and oil on our golf cart one day just as a courtesy before we headed into town. My wife is a "hugger" and handed out several to the staff before we left. Play De Sala felt like home for the week that we were there.

Pro: The best thing about this hotel was the staff. Every single one of them were wonderful. They went above and beyond in every effort to accommodate.
Con: The hotel is VERY remote. There is absolutely nothing within walking distance. You must rent a golf cart and don't rent it from the hotel. They were twice the price of Rock's.
Pro: The roof top patio and restaurant are beautiful and provide amazing views. The food is very good but...
Con: The restaurant menu is limited especially if you don't eat meat. While breakfast was included the only option was scrambled eggs, toast and fruit skewers. If you want something else on the breakfast menu it is full price. Even the coffee was extra. It is a long dark drive in a golf cart to go somewhere else for dinner.
Pro: The beach is beautiful.
Con: You can't swim off of the beach and the pool is very tiny - really only for sitting in.
Pro: The rooms are somewhat small but extremely beautiful with a very comfortable bed and a wonderful shower.
While we wanted a quiet, romantic get-away we found this hotel to be too isolated.

Thank you so much for hour review. We do our best to ensure our guests enjoy their time with us. Im happy to hear that you were happy with our service. As for the menu we try our best to make you whatever you want even if its not on the menu. The kitchen will even cook your fish for you if you catch it out on a tour. We do have a kettle and a coffeemaker in your room the tea and coffee is free. We do put fresh coffee in your room if its been used. Free of charge. People do go swimming and snorkeling off the beach if you don't like the turtle grass that would definitely deter you from going into the water . But its fine to swim in . I personally swim in it and many others have . We are located 4.5 miles from town. Its a romantic getaway. We also have bikes for guests to use free of charge. We don't personally rent golf carts we only recommend reputable company's to rent from . We only try to assist you renting golf carts ,tours, flights and massages. We want you to be able to relax and enjoy your vacation. Warm and sunny Regards

Ambergris Caye, Belize37 contributions2 helpful votesHi Trisha, Thanks for reaching out! We're sorry, we don't have a room that can accommodate 3 persons. Perhaps you can keep looking at other places who would have bigger suites.
The hotel organized transportation for us so there was someone waiting for us at the airport to take us to Playa De Sala. It was helpful because the very nice driver gave us a little tour and pointed out points of interests and great restaurants along the way. I think we maybe paid him $80 or something but I don't really remember. Not sure what we paid for the golf cart...I think maybe less than $300 for 8 or 9 days. The golf cart is essential. Playa de Sala is much more secluded on the south side of the island and you want to be able to come and go as you wish to go into town for meals and shopping. The 20 minute drives to and from town were one of my favorite parts of the whole trip! So beautiful and so interesting to see the Belizean culture all around you!

We have brought in sand to make the beach so it’s not rocky but if like water shoes you should bring them you never know where you might want to go exploring.
