When I went through Customs entering Belize the agent told me I would love where we were staying and she was right. The resort was very nice. The room we stayed in was great. It had outdoor terraces on the first and second floors that allowed us to really enjoy the ambience while still in our room. I also really liked the private beach were I was able to use a kayak and enjoy the over the water daybeds. It is definitely a place I would return.

And, while I didn't get names, the staff was great. They were helpful, pleasant and enhanced the experience.

Along with grand children daughter in law and son planned a trip to San Pedro , Belize. Took a short direct flight of four hours into Belize city , Belize is located at south of Mexico . Took a short flight for fourteen minutes in small plain to San Pedro . At the airport we were welcomed by two courteous drivers who took us to exclusive resort by Hilton , Mahogany resort . Staff was very welcoming and check in was quick . A tour was given to us by welcoming staff . Kids were very excited to jump in to the pool since they love swimming . Next morning we went to private beach by fast boat which took us around 10 minutes . Stayed at the resort for four nights and repeated the routine as mentioned previously. We being vegetarian family requested the chef , Cleveland who cooked special potato curry vegetables and Indian paratha . It was amazing experience . Overall I must say that if families wanting to explore other lesser know resorts this resort provide excellent location , water of Caribbean was very clean and depth water not more than 4.5 feet . For adventure lovers there all sorts of water sports including snorkeling and whale watching . Overall I give resort 4.5 star out of 5 .

This was our second Christmas / New Years spent at MBV. We are simply blown away with the constant improvements with this resort and the level of service. We stayed in a 2 bedroom townhome and hosted 12 for Christmas dinner . The staff are simply such an amazing group working very hard under the leadership of Eric the GM and Emerson Beverage Food Manager , Carl (Manager of Maintenance ) and the list goes on ! All staff were friendly and so accommodating . Food was again amazing ! On site we love the Rum Bean , Dirty Martini and Jyoto . The chocolates/ truffles at Mahogany Bay are so yummy. I also love visiting Carol at the hair salon on site who does amazing work for nails or hair sets etc. The housekeeping team are always available and accommodating . The beach club is such an amazing spot to head out in the Mahogany Bay boat with excellent staff driving the boats and working on the island . On the island they have a bar and restaurant ( no cash) charge to your room with beach chairs , loungers, beds to rent in water or on beach. Floating rafts, paddle boards , wifi .. amazing !!!
Security staff are top notch ....

Last night MBV put on their New Years Eve party and it was lovely . Huge effort by staff to serve a very large party. The live band was nice around the pool during dinner. Photo booth in lobby was nice touch and well used . At 11 pm the party moved to the MBV park where they had a live DJ that was hands down awesome. The fireworks that followed were better then most fireworks we have seen !!!

Honestly this resort has come so far in just 2 years..it’s exciting seeing / experiencing all the positive . You will not be disappointed .

Thank you to all the staff MBV ! You all made our Christmas and New Years amazing ; memories we will not forget .

My family and I had a fantastic time at Mahogany Bay. We stayed in room 409C which is a two bedroom townhouse. The townhouse is really beautiful and the two sunrooms are delightful. We loved the really relaxed and chill vibe both at the resort and the beach club. We loved hanging out at the beach club and having no problem using the hammocks, kayaks, and paddle boards. The food at the resort was great - we ate at the main restaurant, the bar, the Japanese restaurant, and the empanada stand and enjoyed all of them. The staff was really friendly and welcoming all the time which made for a very pleasant stay! Another big perk is that breakfast is included for Hilton gold/platinum!

There were some small things that kept from giving a 5. First, the food at the beach club was really not good - and if you are spending the whole day there you don't have any other options. Second, there were a lot of small issues in our room that needed to be taken care of such as ice chips coming out of the air conditioner and an issue with hot water. They were always addressed right away, but we needed to call and ask for something to be fixed 4 out of 5 days. Finally, I wish the hotel were a little more proactive in explaining how things work. We arrived late at night and they told us they would show us around in the morning. In the morning we asked for an overview of the property and someone did take us around and explain things. Still, as soon as he finished the tour we went to the pool and asked for towels. The person at the towel stand asked us for towel tokens - something we didn't have and nobody had told us about. We also heard conflicting times from different people about the time of the first boat over to the beach club. None of these things was a huge deal, and we did have a fantastic time, but it wasn't quite a 5.

My arranged airport transfer was not there when I arrived. I had to telephone and get them to send a car out, not good.
The hotel itself is fairly new and spread out over a large area with individual chalets, next to a lagoon and with a canal running through it. My one was modern, clean and very comfortable with brilliant Wi-Fi. The bar and restaurants were good and reasonably priced for an expensive hotel. There are also some food shacks very near the property but they are not open all the time.
There were some things that I did not like. There are mosquitos around the property and in the rooms and I got bitten quite a few times even though I took appropriate precautions.
It is isolated, about a 40 minute walk into town, the golf cart rentals are very expensive. I booked a snorkelling trip direct with a company and it was considerably cheaper than the hotel which is what you would expect.
The private beach is a 20 minute boat ride away, the first one out at 10am and the last one back at 4.30pm. It was not for me. My impression was that the packed hard sand beach is man made. There are deck chairs, umbrellas, kayaks, paddle boards plus a bar, food and toilets. The beach is surrounded by marshy stagnant water and there are lots of mosquitos. Although I did not go in, I asked the staff, the water is very shallow, 2 - 2.5 feet deep so you cannot swim in it and there are small sea lice in there.

My husband is a Hilton Diamond Member, so we have stayed at almost all of their beach properties. The rooms at this hotel were amazing (we had 3 bedrooms with 3 bathrooms). I highly recommend 501 Fresh in the food huts. We ate both jerk chicken and jerk shrimp and both were really tasty.

The hotel cleaning staff did a great job keeping the villas clean and sand free. I also recommend getting a Pina Colada from the hotel bar as it was one of the best I have ever had. We had 7 people traveling with us and all of them agreed it was one of the best places we have been.

I strongly recommend purchasing bug spray when you arrive in San Pedro. The hotel does a great job providing it, but you will want your own to reapply immediately after you shower. I would not recommend ever walking around without wearing it.

Overall a top notch hotel, which I highly recommend and intend to return to.

This is a beautiful place. Our room is well appointed, however we he resort will be under construction for a while. So afternoon naps in your room may not work with skill saws and sanders going out your window. The room cleaning has been spotty with things like forgetting to restock our fridge with water and coffee daily requiring a daily phone call.

The $50 resort fee is a joke. The pool is very basic. There are very limited things to do on the property and you really need to get off the property to do anything. The resort is south of town and the hotel doesn’t even have a basic shuttle running if you can believe it, so you are forced to cab back and forth at us$10 each way or rent a golf cart for us$60 per day from the hotel (or in town for $40)

The staff in the bar and restaurant have been excellent.

With the resort fee they should be embarrassed that they are not running their guests around in shuttles to explore the island. It is a cash grab.

We rented a cart in town for $40/ 24 hrs and spent our time doing excursions like heading up to Sunset Palace beach club - Secret beach, Ramon’s is esport for scuba diving and the ferry to Caye Caulker for the day.

So on a 8 day trip your better off staying closer to town and saving on the “resort fee and cart costs or taxi costs that will add about $100/day

We will stay elsewhere next time.

Dear Marsh604 Thank you for taking the time to share your review. We appreciate your kind words, comments and feedback. We apologize for falling short with housekeeping during your stay. This has been addressed with the team to ensure it's not repetitive. Regarding the bottled water, the first 2 bottles at arrival are complimentary for being a valued Hilton member, and further requests must be purchased. However, our front desk team and houseman restocks as requested by guests. We are also saddened that you thought our resort fee was a joke. The fee is paid on every reservation made. When booking directly on Hilton.com the fee is added to your reservation per night. When making reservation via OTA's it is stated clearly on all confirmations that it is payable at check in. The resort fee covers Internet access, beach club & bay club access & activities; non-motorized watercraft & bicycle usage, chilled towels & water spritz service at pool, local calls and a $10 gratuity for hotel team members. We thank you once again for your feedback and wish you happy travels

Let’s start with the good: The staff tried really hard and were very friendly. We stayed in a Garden Cottage King, really nicely appointed room and well thought out. Comfy bed, nice linens, good A/C, large safe (big enough for laptops) and nice shower amenities. We were given 4-comp bottles of water and could order more anytime. Small fridge was great. Rum and bean coffee shop was great in the mornings for coffee & pastry.

Challenges: We were located at very end of a long row of cottages next to construction (although not active construction). We had no chairs on our patio so they had to scramble to find us something to sit on. There is a strong smell of sulfur when you enter the property. The exterior porch lights are on timers so you don’t have the option of turning them off at night. Despite window coverings, light shines brightly into the room. The battery on both our safe and door to our room died and needed replacing. Pool area: quite nice however the deck furniture is a little cheap and there were not enough chairs and limited shade. There is no shop on the property if you need any basic provisions, you have to leave the property for everything. The Beach: private beach (a 15 minute boat-ride) very lovely. However: always a long line and no shade while waiting. I boat battery didn’t work so we suggested changing it with another. 1/2 way there, boat was too heavy & we had to be rescued by another. Absolutely not enough chairs on the island & many broken. Wood chairs with missing slats & no mats. Only a few floaty mats on the island so there was always a mad rush to see who could get them first. We only had one breakfast at the resort and the food was very average.
At 3:45 AM our children received a knock on their door saying they had requested towels when they had not. We also received a call from the front desk at 7 AM on check out day which was annoying to be woken up when we did not have to leave the resort until noon. Overall, the resort has potential to really be great but they are not there yet.

After spending 4 days in Placentia, we flew to San Pedro on Tropic Air to finish our trip on Ambergis Caye.
Mahogany Bay Resort is fantastic for resort style travel on this island. We stayed in a spacious 3 bedroom guest cottage on the lagoon.
The private beach club, with a boat that operates every 30 minutes from the resort, is small but the waters are very shallow and crystal clear. They offer over water bungalows to rent for the day with a bar and bar type food.
At the resort there are restaurants and food huts. I was surprised that the food huts had such varied menus, considering their tiny size. The huts are cash only.
The coffee shop at the resort is fantastic! Must stop by for a cup when in AC.
For our family, we probably will not revisit this area, but we had a great time and are glad we chose to stay at Mahogany Bay Resort on this trip.

Hi David. I highly recommend this resort! We just stayed there this past August and loved it. In response to your questions: 1. Yes there is a lot of construction in the surrounding area of the resort as they are in a Phase II development of houses on the property. The construction noise wasn’t terribly intrusive (but may depend on your sensitivity to such sounds) and it didn’t interfere with our enjoyment of the amenities on the resort. 2. You can rent golf carts from the resort and there is usually parking in front of your residence. We didn’t have any issues parking golf carts on or off the resort. 3. Resort has its own private beach which is great for families. There are kayaks and paddle boards and lots of ocean life to explore on the beach. The private beach is a 15 minute boat ride away from the resort but the ferry ran by the resort goes regularly to the private beach. Have a great time and let me know if you enjoy it as much as we did!

Is this resort an All inclusive report with food/drinks ?
Answer from Kaylee G
Orlando, Florida7 contributions2 helpful votes
No. There is a restaurant/bar on property that is owned by Hilton (so you can charge to your room), as well as a coffee shop, Japanese restaurant and food huts run by locals on the property. Those are not run by Hilton, so you cannot charge to your room. At the private beach, there is a bar and restaurant and you can charge those purchases to your room.

Sorry I didn't want to go home with any Belize currency so we used credit cards for everything. FYI Everything at Mahogany Bay Resort can be charged to the room so you don't need to even carry your wallet.
