Coco Beach Resort earns rave reviews for its prime location, offering both a serene atmosphere and proximity to activities, complete with a swim-up pool bar. Guests have called out the resort's clean, spacious rooms with stunning views, despite occasional AC glitches.
While the amenities, including the pristine pool and beach area, are consistently lauded for their cleanliness and maintenance, some travelers mention the high cost and strict cancellation policy. Nonetheless, the exceptional service and welcoming vibe often make the splurge seem worthwhile for many.

Hotel's Favorite
My standards are extremely high - Coco Beach met them. From flawless sparkel clean room to fantastic location (just far enough from downtown for an awesome golf cart ride). The staff was incredible and made us feel welcome and special. It felt authentic and genuine. The food could have been a bit better, but there are many options so close by.... including the Tipsy Lobster which was also exceptional. Everything was well worth the cost. We went as a group of 13 (ranging mid 30s to mid 60s) to celebrate several things and Coco Beach was the absolute best choice (we evaluated several other countries and resorts.)

We just returned home from 10 glorious days at Coco Beach. There was a group of 14 of us, let’s say seasoned adults, old enough to know better, young enough not to care. We had a great time. The accommodations were well kept, clean, and beautiful. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We had great food and drinks (lots and lots of those). And we spent quite a bit of time in the beachside pool. Don’t expect Mexico prices here though, this is a top notch place. Prices were comparable to those in the states. Belikin beer runs $3 USD, a rum & coke $5, top shelf and specialty cocktails around $10. Not cheap but not unreasonable either. You get what you pay for.
4 of us shared a 2 bedroom ocean view villa. The rooms were immaculately kept with granite counter tops and beautiful wood cabinets. We had a 5 gal bottled water jug/dispenser on our counter that was replaced as soon as it was low, a fully equipped kitchen, and the best coffee supplied by the resort for making that morning cup to enjoy on the balcony. The view was gorgeous.
This resort is a little far from town, but perfect for us. If we wanted to be in the middle of the hustle and bustle we could jump on a rented golf cart and go, if we wanted a more laid back experience we either stayed back or just went up the road to one of the small restaurants nearby.
Check out the Truck Stop for a night of fun. Or go the other way up the road to the Tipsy Lobster for a fantastic and reasonably priced meal. Also, a few miles away is secret beach, but getting there is an experience. The road is rough, I mean really rough, but so very worth it. Check out the newer places to the left of the main area, Blue Bayou and Sunsets, I promise you they are amazing.
The only negative thing I can say about our trip were the bugs. The mosquitoes were vicious in the evening and the no see ums seemed to love me and my sister, we have lots of bites everywhere. For some reason the no see ums left the others alone. Next year I will bring bug spray.
Anyway, we already talking about next winters trip back. I’d say our first trip to Ambergris Caye left quite an impression on us and vice versa. LOL!

We are delighted that your group had a great stay at Coco Beach. We are located 3.5 miles north of San Pedro Town, easily accessed via golf cart rental. The road to Coco Beach is paved, but the road north and to Secret Beach is not. We do encourage our guests to bring insect repellent to avoid biting insects. Thanks for your review and we look forward to hosting you next year.

We took a week long vacation to celebrate my best friends birthday. We’ve never gone anywhere warm or anywhere south of Mexico. When she said she wanted to go to Belize, I honestly did not know what to expect. We’ve had friends or coworkers who have gone and no one had anything negative to say, so we booked our stay at Coco Beach Resort on Ambergris Caye peninsula and then quickly booked flights. Once we made the reservation, we immediately received confirmation of our booking, several options for travel to and from the ‘island’ and if we were celebrating anything special. Our trip from Belize Int’l Airport was seamless as we had easily identifiable escorts and drivers. Everyone greeted us with smiles and waves, gave us plenty of time to meander and great tips for the week ahead! The staff on our resort were all so gracious, they remembered our names, gave great recommendations and it felt like we were family! Our welcome host, Rose, was great, check in was a breeze and there were no surprise charges upon check out. Our bartenders/servers, Amir, Zann, Johnny & Johan made us the best cucumber coolers all week, our glasses were never empty and they entertained us with all the music we requested! We rented a golf cart at the resort through a third-party company & Manny was so kind and helpful getting us set up. We had a couple breakfast meals on site at the Coco Cafe where Miriam and her small kitchen crew made our sandwiches just the way we liked them. We booked some excursions and Alden & Jose gave us great advice, took care of everything. We had a blast with Tuff E Nuff crew (that deserved a separate review)! We loved the pools & the jacuzzi, the property was well maintained, the food was good, conveniently located for the water taxi, sunrise and sunset views everyday. 10/10, 5 stars, would definitely go back!

CocoBeach – we stayed here for 4 nights on vacation, and it was a pleasant experience overall. On the plus side the resort is very beautiful with 2 swimming pools and charming architecture. We had the 2-bedroom condo overlooking the ocean and smaller pool. Another plus was that the service was very good, with friendly responsive people at the front desk, bar and restaurant. By the end of the trip, we also came to realize that the restaurant was one of the best we visited with comparable prices to being in town. We were there during lobster season and had the grilled lobster one evening for only $40 Belize ($20 American)- excellent. The 2 for one happy hour every afternoon was also nice.
On the con side, no one warned us about the very bad smell of the ocean in the summer due to the rotting sea grass. It smelled like sulfur sewage, and there was no way you could go in the scary looking brown water. We were grateful we didn’t stay at one of the beach front condos, but even so the smell permeated the resort. When you are paying luxury prices, you just don’t expect this. The smell wasn’t as bad in the town of the San Pedro.
Another con was that there was no dishwasher in the condo, and the water pressure in the showers was almost non-existent. Many times we only had a small trickle of water. Again, for luxury prices, you expect more. Due to Covid there was no cleaning service in our room, and without a dishwasher we had to do all of our own dishes. Prices should have been reduced if they weren’t going to clean the rooms every day. We could have stayed at Carib down the road for 1/3 of the price we paid to stay here.
Finally, the resort is situated 3 miles or 15 minutes from the town of San Pedro, and the golf carts cost $26 for 2 hours. This adds up quite quickly on your bill. Something to consider.
Our favorite things to do while visiting: Snorkeling tour – don’t miss this! The evening food tour in San Pedro was totally worth the price, and the beautiful clear turquoise water at Secret Beach almost made up for the ugly smelling brown ocean water in front of the resort.

+1
When we flew into San Pedro on the small island hopper plane,, my wife said in a terrible Ricardo Montauban impersonation, “Welcome to fantasy Island!” While the entire island isn’t exactly paradise, this resort certainly is. Pictures I took off my second floor balcony could have been used in travel brochures. Everything looks so perfect that it can’t be real. But, it is.
While the beach connected to the resort is a bit murky, the pool is flawless. There is a central waterslide that I was too intoxicated to risk climbing, but looked like a lot of fun. There’s a giant chess set. And, a swim up bar to keep you lubricated while you’re swimming.
While beauty can be skin deep in some cases, it’s certainly not here. The service is lightning quick and friendly…genuinely friendly. I have been at resorts where it was obvious the staff hated their jobs and hated the guests. That doesn’t seem to be the case here.
And, the restaurant is incredible. The seafood bisque and adobe rubbed grouper are stellar, and the breakfast sandwich is massive and delicious and served with hash browns for only $8.
As if that weren’t enough, the room is beautiful. The bed is firm but comfortable, the shower area is a work of art, and the TV channel selection in the room is mind boggling.
Staying here isn’t cheap – it’s a resort, folks, so what do you expect - but it is certainly worth the price.

We were there March 5-10. The resort staff was always friendly and ready to help with anything. We loved having a room with a pool view. The pools were beautiful and well kept. The hot tub and pool bar were also great. Never crowded the week we were there. Housekeeping service was daily and they were there in a few minutes if you called for anything. The resort is close (drivable) to the truck stop and only a short walk from the tipsy lobster. Also about a 20 minute drive from secret beach.
Would definitely stay here again!!!

It was our first time to Belize and we loved it. The resort was quiet with very nice staff. The pools are very well taken care of, and the food/drinks at the resort are pretty good. We rented a golf cart for the week and the staff members took very good care of those as well. I definitely suggest renting a golf cart because that is how most people get around and it’s hard to get most places without it. The tap water is not drinkable on the island, but we were provided with filtered water by the hotel. We stayed in room A5 and it was beautiful with an ocean view. The room was huge and easily fit our family of 5. The wifi is very spotty, but that didn’t really matter to me because it was a good opportunity to disconnect from my phone for the week. There are so many good food places on the island, and everyone is very nice there. Everywhere we went, the employees were so hardworking and wanted to make sure we had a good experience. Unfortunately, one of the people I was staying with is very negative and left a critical review (Christian N.) but I can assure you, the vacation was a lot better than he made it seem. Only he could be so critical and complain about a relaxing vacation on a tropical island… Anyway, some places I would recommend going to are PUR (18+ swim up bar and food place) which has amazing food with very large portions, Tres Cocos (breakfast), Secret Beach (a little touristy but the water is clear and swimmable), Marbucks (coffee and breakfast), and definitely Sol Cafe which we went to everyday for great coffee. If you want fresh coconut water in a coconut, I definitely recommend stopping by a stand called “Coco Boys” (I think) because the man is very, very kind and he would say hello to us everyday when we passed him. Also, we spent a day fishing and snorkeling with sharks with a man named “Johnny Boy.” He took amazing care of us and at the end, he took us to a private beach and cooked us an amazing homemade meal from the fish we caught (100% recommend using him if you want an amazing boating experience). Most of the locals are so inviting and wave/smile as you pass them. Overall, I would 100% come back to Belize and Coco Beach Resort, mostly because of the very kind staff and people on the island.

My husband and I spent 3 nights at Coco Beach, after staying at a smaller, more boutique style resort. Unfortunately, we much preferred our stay at the other resort. Aesthetically, Coco Beach is beautiful- much more upscale, big name resort feel, like a Hyatt or Marriott. To us, that doesn’t really match the vibe of beautiful San Pedro.
Coco Beach is a commercial feeling experience. The kind that overcharges for food, drinks, excursions, and transportation (at $25 per person for airport transfer, a 10 min drive). It was impossible to contact the front desk using the in-room phone. It seemed to just not be connected. That was especially problematic when there were several issues that required immediate attention. There was a plumbing problem that put the toilet out of commission for hours, in many of the hotel rooms. Staff acted as if it were a regular occurrence.
We will definitely be back to San Pedro, but will choose to stay at a resort that provides a more personal experience.

Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. The pools are really nice. The restaurant has good food.
The room was spacious. we reserved a 1-bedroom suite, they gave us a 2 bedroom.
Why is it not 5 stars? The mattress was too soft for my bad back, they had no alternatives for me.. The units are dark inside, and need additional lighting. The "beach" it is on is not really a location you'd want to swim from. You need to travel to get to a nice swimmable beach. Renting golf carts gets really expensive, but that is the only way to really get around.
We liked this resort.

Thanks for sharing your review. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us, despite a few minor issues. The beach on the island is not something that we have control over and is dictated by the geology of the area. The barrier reef, just offshore, means that there will not be a big sandy beach like you may find in Cancun. The biggest draw in Belize is the reef, with many adventures like snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing. We offer complimentary bicycles, which are a good budget option for traveling to nearby restaurants and bars. There is also a public water taxi that makes scheduled, daily runs along the coast of the island. As you mentioned, we do offer golf cart rental on the island as well. Thanks again for taking the time to share your review!

We recently visited San Pedro over Christmas vacation. We stayed at Coco Beach and were not disappointed. The resort was beautiful, clean and the staff was extremely helpful. They reached out prior to the trip to make sure we had our airport transfers from Belize City to San Pedro, and scheduled a round trip shuttle service from San Pedro to the resort. They booked our golf cart for the week and any tours we wanted to go on. They were in constant communication on WhatsApp and replied quickly.
We stayed in a 2 room pool view suite which provided plenty of space, fresh drinking water and full kitchen. They cleaned the room every 2 days and we were never left wanting. We ate at the restaurant on-site (my daughter's favorite meal of the trip) and ate at the bar several times during our stay. The staff always remembered us and were very helpful in answering questions about the local area. The pools were extremely clean and perfect temperature.
The best part about our trip is that we were delayed one day due to flight cancellations on Christmas Eve. Instead of losing an entire day of our trip, United booked us to leave a day after we were supposed to. When I reached out to the resort to see if we could continue to stay there the extra day, they had no issues in making up for the lost day and let us stay in our original room. We were even able to extend our golf cart, no questions asked and at no charge.
During out stay we traveled to the town of San Pedro most every day. This was about a 15-20 minute by golf cart. Along the way to town you can stop at various restaurants/resorts to eat or have a drink and listen to live music. Some of our favorites were Garage, the Truck Stop and the Dive Bar (303). The town of San Pedro was quaint and full of restaurants and little authentic shops. We definitely left wanting to try at least 20 more restaurants. We were not able to get in to Elvi's, but tried Maxie's which was a sister restaurant - the food was amazing. We loved the pasta at Blue Water Grill.
During our trip we were able to complete our Scuba certification with Ambergris Divers in San Pedro. The staff there was amazing and Felicito Castellanos was our instructor. I have a teenage daughter and our safety was definitely our top priority. He was extremely professional and we couldn't have asked for a more experienced, safety conscious guide. It was hands down the best experience for our family. I would definitely recommend this dive shop for experienced scuba divers or those wanting to get certified! We saw so many amazing things and were able to complete 5 dives.
We have absolutely no complaints about our trip overall, We will definitely be going back and we will most certainly stay at Coco Beach again. Perfect vacation, thank you to all of the staff at Coco Beach!

Hi there... I did not see folks swim off the dock but there are lots of places on the island where you can easily do that.
I stayed in A1 August 2023 2 months ago.
It is not all-inclusive. But does have a few bars and restuarants on-site so you dont have to leave, but that cost is in addition to your stay.
I just visited there 2 weeks ago and yes the water is salty! It is a beautiful place and you have to use the drinking water to brush your teeth.
