The Disneyland Hotel captivates many with its magical Disney-themed atmosphere and whimsical touches that enchant guests. Its location earns high marks for convenience, being a stone's throw from Disneyland via Downtown Disney. However, opinions on rooms vary, with some finding them spacious while others consider them overpriced and cramped. Cleanliness generally receives praise, though there are occasional plumbing concerns. The service and amenities get a mixed response, with some guests experiencing issues with water pressure and pool access. Despite these critiques, the overall enchantment of the Disney experience remains a draw for visitors.

From the food to how clean the rooms are , this hotel is amazing. Whether you are a Disney fan or not , this hotel offers so much . The lobby is full memorabilia, the pools are so nice and the access to parks via the monorail, which drops you off at tomorrow land , avoiding the crowds at the entrance ,is so convenient. I love walking into my room and hearing “When you wish upon star” and seeing Sleeing Beauty Castle light up above the bed, so magical.

The room service was really yummy. The staff is so helpful and knowledgeable. I have stayed twice and can’t wait to go back again.

Honestly I had never really thought of staying at the Disneyland Hotel when the Grand Californian was so much closer, until I did stay there and wow; it was amazing!

First the rooms were amazing. They felt so much bigger than the Grand Californian (GC) and they are! Now most do not have balconies so that may be a little of the space, but with floor to ceiling windows you don’t need a balcony! The beds here were the most comfortable beds I have slept on in any hotel I’ve ever stayed at. The bathroom was awesome how it had a separate room just for the potty, the counter was huge, and there was a shelf to put things on below it too. My only negative was there isn’t really places to sit outside the bed, but I’m ok with that.

Next the proximity to Disneyland and Disney California Adventure Park was fine. You can take the monorail right in to Fantasy Land in Disneyland, but really it never took more than 10 minutes to walk there. In comparison the Grand Californian is actually in Disney California Adventure Park, but that being said the Grand is a massive hotel and (depending on your room location) it could still take 5-10 minutes to get to the park. So location wasn’t perfect, but wouldn’t stop me from staying here again.

Now where this hotel shines the amenities and restaurants! The pools here are a very good size (we thought the pools at the Grand were tiny in comparison) and who doesn’t like the monorail slide?! Goofy’s Kitchen was an amazing character dinner, the iconic Trader Sam’s is located at this hotel and the Tangaroa Terrace serves my favorite ramen on property; plus you can get a Dole Whip right at your hotel so that’s always a bonus for me! We didn’t eat at Steakhouse 55, but we met some people that did and they loved it! This place doesn’t disappoint in the amenities and restaurants department!

The intangible of this hotel is the magic. It’s the magic of the different lands of Disneyland brought together in the towers. It’s seeing the art and topiaries everywhere. It’s the little touches like the tea cup chairs in the lobby, all the characters that roam around the hotel surprising guests, the Mickey hands holding the lights in the bathroom and the fireworks over your bed. This hotel had a very classic Disney feel that’s undeniable from the moment you arrive. This hotel gives you “the feels” from the start and that’s why the intangibles put this one over the top for me!

I’ve seen other reviews slamming this hotel for not being as modern as The Grand, but I couldn’t disagree more. It’s modern and classic just like Mickey Mouse himself. Also don’t let the distance deter you, it’s mostly a flat walk in to the parks and I’d call it an easy walk for most. Give this hotel a shot next time you visit Disneyland and you won’t regret it!

we just spent six nights at this 5 star hotel right in the middle of Disneyland. so there is lots to tell. first of all checking in, we arrived at 7pm after a short flight from arizona, as our trip was prolonged almost a month we had lots of luggage but the porters were most helpfull, bell boys took the luggage and delivered it promptly all 8 pieces...

check in took a few minutes as we had tickets max passes and such to go through and lots of badges ( and i mean lots ) badges seem to be their own currency here!.

any way checked in to room 2012 it looks over the pool area and had two queen beds. a bathroom with bath and shower as long as you can climb in coffee set with ok tea and coffee. a fridge ( empty ) tv and the usual other things. we had requested a crib for junior and this came very quickly. in fact, all staff was very accommodating and Disney friendly....

the room quickly became home ( read messy ) to the boys but to the credit of cleaning staff it was ALWAYS nice when we got back.

beds.
for some reason my back did not agree with the beds perhaps due to my preferences anyway after a week i still have a sore back. maybe i am just getting old though. they were very soft....

the comfort of the room.
it was always just the right temperature. water was always lacking though the tea and coffee was replaced.

room service.
was quick and pleasant, pizza at 10pm was no problem.

restaurants and bars.
DONT. they were just so slow and expensive it was better to walk downtown ( 3 minutes after security bag searches) the staff was nice but nice does not help when the price is high and the quality low. goofys kitchen for breakfast is for the kids.

hints and tricks.

take the train to the park to avoid crowds.
get the disney app, to book rides food and just about anything, you need to reserve everything and the app helps.

I have as my regular readers know, stayed at many high end ( and some realy low end ) establishments.

this hotel is for the kids as its location is awesome. the pool and slides and such are in the process of winter maintenance, the park has few queues, the hotel relatively quiet when we were there ( 2nd until 7th ) so its worth it for the money, mean who does not like spoiling the children.

just keep your expectations on that level and it will be fine!

would i stay again, under same conditions? yes

I stayed at the Disneyland Hotel for 4 nights in December 2021. This is my third visit and the worst by far.

I like staying on property because I like staying in the magic. I know it costs more, but I like walking right into downtown Disney and the number of homeless people I passed on the way to the park was zero. When I first arrived, I dropped a rental off at Alamo on Katella, and on the walk back to the park, I passed two. I'm paying for location and safety.

However, I'm also paying for a bit of an experience and that was missing. I had requested a room in the Adventure Tower before arriving and it was NOT honoured and I was in the Frontier Tower. Not the best, but it was fine. However, the lack of housekeeping was disappointing. I was paying the same $500+ a night rates as I did pre covid, but didn't get towels, coffee, or my bed made. I called for towels and coffee each night I didn't get them and the one time they just brought coffee and no towels.

I understand Covid is a big deal, but the parks don't seem to care as they pack in people. I was walking through Disneyland at 5 pm on Saturday and it was wall to wall people. They didn't seem concerned about covid then when guesting were paying, but when they have to pay someone to clean my room, all of a sudden they're very concerned about safety? Seems fishy.

I will say the room was clean and a decent size. I wish they had a table with two chairs instead of the pull out bed and desk with one chair. Dining is all outside at the hotel (bummer), and we wanted to eat in the room but it was difficult with two people, so we ate in the lobby.

I'm not sure I'd return to the Disneyland Resort until after housekeeping was brought back or my room was discounted to account for the lack of services.

For example, Trader Sams was all outside, not everything was open, lots of construction. Also, the room next to me was insanely loud and the front desk seemed unconcerned.

Twenty years since our last stay at DL Hotel. This was a special visit with our 7 & 9 year old granddaughters. We wanted to give them a first class experience.
Surprise 1. Great Bell Service. Just what you expect with a first class resort. Early arrival and prompt dispatch of our luggage when our rooms were ready.
Surprise 2. Basically NO personal service. We had plenty of questions at check in. No facility maps, no explanation of amenities. We felt that we were imposing on their time. Everyone was super nice wishing us a "magical day"; but it seemed like a rehearsed line with little sincerity.
Surprise 3. Paper coffee cups, plastic glasses, no daily maid service, unreliable vending machines...and this was on the premium floor!
Surprise 4. No shuttles offered between hotel and the amusement parks. The walking distance between the hotel and the parks is about 1/2 mile. Two broken legs 18 months ago put a huge burden on the 65 year old legs.
When spending over $700 per night per room one expects certain amenities. DL Hotel did not deliver. And the "Covid" excuse was broadly used; yet the parks were shoulder-to-shoulder jammed packed.
The girls loved the Goofy Breakfast which can be arranged without staying at the DL Hotel.
Next time: a nearby hotel with a shuttle with better service and a much lower price.
Lastly, the DL Parks were absolutely incredibly decorated for Christmas!!!! Don't miss that!

Had our annual visit to Disneyland and as always enjoyed our stay at the Disneyland Hotel. The front desk was really helpful in allowing us to stay in our same room for all three nights even though it was under two separate reservations and different room classes (my husband originally only booked us for two nights instead of three and they were sold out online when he went back to book the third night). Anyway they were very helpful and got us taken care of. The pool area was nice for the kids but the service and cleanliness is not up to historical standards. Even the lifeguards were not pleasant in their interactions with other guests. The in-room phones don't really work in terms of all you can hear is static and the buttons on the phone do not match up with the labels. So if you hit the "housekeeping" button you may get the valet, "valet" might ring to the bellmen etc and then again, very hard to hear given all the static. The rooms however continue to be very clean and in good condition. We all slept very well even though we ended up next to an elevator-we hardly noticed it. The one thing I would say is don't stay here if you plan to use the monorail going and coming (especially with little ones). They seem to either shut it down or just not run it at the most random times and particularly at night. That has been the case the last four or five years so just know that going in. Other than these few minor things, it continues to be magical and the kids still love the lighted headboards and various "mickey's" you find in the room. Not worth what you are paying, but that's just Disney overall.

Hotel was very nice and very expensive but the proximity to downtown Disney and the parks were worth it, I thought the hotel was awesome until you go see the other two Disney hotels, the Floridian and can’t recall the other one but they are gorgeous and have a much more vacation type vibe than the main hotel, however they are more expensive as but you can’t go wrong if you have the money to spare and the extra magic hours for resort guests gave us a huge head start on those days, Rode some premium rides two or three times before the lines became crazy long. If not driving recommend hiring a shuttle service that will let you make a grocery store stop. You can save a ton of money that way.

Overall we loved the hotel, the location, being in the middle of it all can’t be beat. We felt safe and well looked after. The staff are prompt with requests(our fridge wasn’t working and was replaced promptly). The pool!!!! Amazing and not hard to find a good seat by the pool with lots of shade or sunshine. The rooms are neat with little Disney touches. We had a room that connected to the room next door, and the neighbours woke us up at 5:30am as they were not trying to be quiet and likely didn’t know how loud they were and that there was no insulation between the rooms lol.
My kids and I loved looking around the hotel at the different buildings. The restaurants are pricy and we never ate at them cause of this. The Disneyland experience is more fun than meeting a character over breakfast for the price you pay. We would love to stay again!

I have always wanted to stay here at The Disneyland hotel.

However the price to stay here is insane, Then you factor in the exchange rate and it really is insane prices.

In saying that we stayed here 2 nights at the end of our Disney stay. Prior to staying here we stayed 6 nights elsewhere.

The room was an okay size. What I liked was that it had the bathroom with toilet,shower/tub combo on one side in one room and on the other side was the wardrobe and sink.

We stayed in the frontier tower and on the last day they had tapped up our window as were doing some work outside.

There is currently renovation building work going on which I knew about for the new DVC tower that is being built. There is some noise but not enough to ruin your holiday. I never heard it from our room.

I could hear the noise when sitting on the sun lounger but it didn't stop me from falling asleep in the sun. The pool area was nice and we spent a bit of time here.

Check in I never got an email to tell me my room was ready so just came back at 3.30pm to check. Bags were being held by bag service so we could explore the park.

On check out day we went for breakfast with Goofy which is in the grounds on the hotel then checked out. They allowed us to use the pool on check out day which was a great way to relax and bet the heat. We spent 3 hours here before it was time to pick up bags and take our car service back to LAX.

We never used the early entry as a half hour early was not worth getting up for. They should bring back the old 1 hour earlier.

Loved the quick easy security check from the Disney hotel into downtown Disney and the monorail entrance into Disneyland.

Trader Sams on site for dinner and drinks was a nice easy spot for dinner. (book 60 days out).

Would I stay here again? probably not.

Three stars only for location and cleanliness on arrival. Plus attention to Disney character details in the furnishings, without being garish. That’s about where the good stuff ends. The cleanliness doesn’t last long when you’re travelling with a family of four and there’s no room service. Apparently it’s every other day, but that means, after a long haul flight and two solid jet-lagged 14 hour+ days at the happiest place on Earth, you arrive back at your hotel room to unmade beds, damp towels, used paper coffee cups (yes, paper) and used plastic water cups which you filled with $5 vending machine water, because there’s no water provided. Nor is there any in-room dining, so you can’t even have any water sent up from guest services (please do not consider even for one moment that you’ll have any hope of a late night glass of wine after a big day). At this price point (we stayed in a pool-facing room on the 5th floor of the Adventure Tower), I expect a lot more. I’ll start with asking for the beds to be made please. Would I return? Probably not, even with the wonderful location. Perhaps I’ll review this back to two stars. The Disneyland Hotel is definitely not the happiest place on Earth.

The disneyland villas are a great option. Getting into downtown disney is your only hurdle but only bc the line LOOKS long, but as soon as security opens, it goes super fast so don't be daunted but do line up early if you want to make rope drop

Walking through Downtown Disney is the fastest way, but make sure you’re allowed to use the entrance for Early Entry. Last time we stayed at the Disneyland Hotel (March) we were not able to use that entrance unless we were staying at the Grand. You can use the entrance any other time, they just wouldn’t let us use it for Early Entry. Have a great time!
