Luxury and modern but hotel kept the historical feel upon walking into the lobby. Excellent service. Convenient location to lots of historic sites and restaurants. Comfortable and spacious bedroom and bathroom. Great view from rooftop.

Hotel's Favorite
The hotel is in what was the old post office - a mighty fine historic building in the middle of D.C. A great location - a metro station just around the corner and a 5 minute walk to the national mall. The main entrance and reception is stunning. It’s like a plaza - there’s a bar and seating with a restaurant. It is so grand and a massive American flag is hung on one wall. Simply stunning. Through out the hotel the decorations are fantastic. The staff were also really great - the breakfast and bar staff amazing and the door staff. Really great people. The room was very comfortable. The king bed was heavenly. In our room we also had a desk with a chair and a big cabinet with a huge tv on it with bedside tables each. There’s a wardrobe with a safe in it and a steamer. We had a great sleep. The bathroom is stunning. Double sinks, a huge shower and the biggest bath I’ve ever seen. Their toiletries are fantastic. Hair dryer available too. With our deal we got money for breakfast included. It’s not the cheapest breakfast but it is fantastic - the pancakes and bacon with maple syrup I can’t stop thinking of and the salmon avocado stack was also delicious. We also got some room credit which we spent on cocktails in the evening - some great choices. The bar is really well presented. You can normally go up to the tower which is not run by the hotel but due to covid this was not possible. We had an absolutely super stay. I know that it is being sold and I hope that the grandness of the hotel remains.

The facility was, of course, outstanding, but I need to write because of the exemplary service by the staff, especially Shatiya, an associate at the registration desk. Her professionalism, friendliness and commitment to hospitality were the best I've experienced in years of travel. Talk about first impressions! The hotel was very busy causing my room to be a few minutes (maybe 15 at most) from being ready. She took this minor inconvenience and turned it into a positive, amiably chatting with me, then comping me a drink at the bar. She was terrific! I felt better about the place than I would have had my room actually been ready on time. These good vibes stuck with me throughout my stay, and were echoed and amplified by other staf as well. Also, a special shoutout to Dennis, one of the bellmen, and also amazingly helpful and customer-oriented. I'll be back thanks to folks like Shatiya and Dennis

Right from the beginning we were cocooned in a high level of service. At one point a random employee even ran over to press the elevator call button for us when he noticed us approaching to go down for dinner. The hotel is located in an ultra-convenient location, walking distance to almost everything and a block away from the Metro for everything else. Rooms are ornate, with that rarest of hotel luxuries: a sufficient number of drawers!

Husband and I stayed here for a Mother's Day staycation. We had a wonderful experience from arrival to departure. We enjoyed the grand space, posh yet cozy room, dinner at Jose Andres The Bazaar and breakfast in our room. Staff were unfailingly polite, friendly and professional at the front desk, in housekeeping, dining and valet parking. We were especially happy that our concierge who contacted us by email before our visit was able to get us reservations at The Bazaar! Delicious -- definitely enjoy a meal there if you get the chance. The room was not huge but was well designed. The lovely bed was very comfortable. I was surprised how quiet the room was, given the location in the middle of the city. We couldn't hear a thing once the door closed. The bathroom was luxurious with lovely bath amenities and towels. We are longtime DC area residents but had not seen the inside of the building since its days as a food court/shopping mall. Wow, what a transformation. The Waldorf Astoria has restored the glory that this historic property deserves.

We've stayed at other five-star hotels, but the luxury, opulence and level of service of this hotel just swept me off my feet. Sometimes my teen daughter feels out of place in "fancy" settings, but the staff were so welcoming that she was at ease for our whole stay. We were first greeted by the valet Dennis ("Dennis the Menace"). He was energetically welcoming and his smile can't be resisted - you just have to smile back. He gave us bottles of Evian and escorted us inside, where he introduced us to Said at the front desk. Check in was quick and efficient but without feeling rushed. We arrived a bit early and our room was being cleaned, so we sat in the breath-taking atrium and just soaked in the beauty. They had added cherry blossom decorations that were stunning. I have included pictures. I booked a king guest room, but I believe we were upgraded to a 585 sq ft premium guest room, 2 levels up. It was formally decorated and very luxurious, but not at all fussy or overbearing. A very helpful bellman escorted us to our room and showed us some of the features, such as the electronic "do not disturb" light and the electric curtains & sheers. The mini bar was well-stocked with a variety of liquors and mixers as well as a split of champagne (Veuve Clicqot if I remember correctly). The hotel is walking distance to some of our favorite museums and attractions, but we ended up spending extra time in the room, just reveling in the luxury! The mattress was moderately firm and incredibly comfortable. The pillows were large and soft but supportive for side sleepers. And that oversized bathtub... I want one in my home! I am 5'8" and my feet did not touch the opposite end when I bathed. The water came almost to my shoulders. And Frette bathrobes afterwards was such a thoughtful touch! We ended up not using the shower, which was the size of a regular hotel's entire bathroom and was equipped with both an overhead shower head and a hand-held sprayer. I booked the room too late to go to tea or the spa, but I did peek in on both. I almost wish I didn't because both were so enticing. We had breakfast delivered to our room and it was delicious. We did not hear any noise outside our room. There are plenty of outlets for plugging in multiple chargers. Check out was equally smooth and efficient. A bellman arrived within minutes of my request. Said processed the checkout and remembered that we were traveling for my daughter's 17th birthday. Recalling that kind of detail impresses me that he was actually listening when we chatted at check-in. Dennis was outside again when we left. He gave us fresh bottles of Evian while our luggage was being loaded and sent us on our way with smiles. If we return to DC, staying at the Waldorf Astoria again will be our obvious choice!

Stopped for cocktails with friends after a show at Ford’s Theatre. The ambiance was amazing. The drinks were fabulous. But the best part by far was our server, Amir G. He was kind, helpful and really went out of his way to make our evening special. His service and professionalism was exceptional and definitely made our night.
