Stayed four nights for a work trip. Pros: - The location was great! Walking distance from where I needed to be, as well as tourist attractions. Safe area as well. White House/Washington Monument are roughly 20-30 minutes away by foot. Adams Morgan/nightlife area also about 30 minutes. High Lyft/Uber availability in the area (though expensive). About 10 minutes walk to Metro Station -- can get to DCA in 30 minutes for <$5. - Staff was kind and friendly. Housekeeping was great at refreshing the room. Cons: - Still advertises turn-down service with complimentary bottled water on the website, though this is no longer available. Bottled water will cost you $1 from the front desk. I asked about other options for drinking water, but was advised to not drink the tap water. Hotel did not have any water fountains/sources of filtered water available. This was a little frustrating, but I ended up buying a gallon at a corner market <5 minutes away. - Dated in terms of decor and tech. I don't care too much about decor, but on the tech: you need to swipe your key card to work the elevator, but it was very finnicky. Got stuck in the elevator with multiple guests on multiple occasions, with all of us unable to swipe our cards to get the elevator moving. Just had to keep trying over and over again. Never figured out the trick. TV is also very old and not the best quality. Other notes: - Gym was pretty good for a hotel gym. They had towels. Multiple ellipticals/treadmills/bikes/rowers. For strength: 1 bench press, 1 adjustable bench, 2 TRX setups, 2 racks of dumbbells, 1 cable machine, yoga mats, medicine balls, kettle bells (up to 30lb). Decent. - Restaurant seemed very overpriced but popular with other guests. See menu online. - Pool was closed, but can see how it would be great fun for families.…
This was a super nice hotel and all of the staff was absolutely amazing! They all had wonderful customer service and made me feel incredibly welcome. Especially the two bartenders Sarah and Sharda. We were there for two nights and three days and every night we had to stop by to update them about our day and grab a drink. By the time we checked out they gave us a hug and said they will miss us. I already miss them. I would recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the DC area and if you do make sure you stop and talk to Sarah and Sharda they will make your stay 1000% better!
Had a problem at the front desk checking in. I gave the Operation Manager a $50 bill to change so I could tip the bellman. He went in the back for a good four or five minutes. Came back and gave me five ones and declared I had give him a $5. I knew I had not because all I had were folded $50 and $100 bills. He then pulled out his zipper bag to show me his cash. There on top was my folded $50, the only $50 in his bag, he said it couldn’t be mine because his bag balanced at $350. He did offer to give me $45 “out of his own pocket” which I didn’t take. It had gone too far at that point. Bottom line if you go there never use cash.
Was in DC for a few days for meetings on Capitol Hill. The location is good, near enough to plenty of restaurants and shops. Super friendly staff, I enjoyed chatting with Stacy at the front desk at checkout and found out she is on an international Trainee program. So nice to see young people from all over the world getting the chance to gain valuable work experience in the USA. Breakfast was good, wanted to try lunch/dinner options but was unable to during my stay due to meetings. Comfy bed, with lots of pillows :)
My friend and I decided to go on a spur-of-the-moment trip to DC. Being two girls in unfamiliar territory, Sarah and Sharda (hotel bartenders) made us feel right at home. Usually, when you visit a new place you want to try and experience new things but returning to the hotel and talking to Sarah and Sharda was one of the best parts of our trip. They wanted to know how our days went and also recommended where to visit in DC. My friend and I also got stranded with dead phones and no idea where we were if it wasn't for Sarah and Sharda telling us the night before where to go and the street names around us we would probably still be lost. These women deserve the biggest raise. If you ever get to meet them ask them about the story of the charcuterie board (its a good one)!
I travel a fair amount. As such, I rarely take the time to write reviews. However, it would be a grave disservice to overlook this one. Not only is the Washington Plaza Hotel ideally situated proximate to theatre, restaurants, and nightlife, it is also reasonably close to Capitol Hill (2 miles) and the National Mall. The rooms are also quite clean. What really stands out here, though, is the people. From management to the service staff, to the doorman, everyone wearing the Washington Plaza Hotel uniform was helpful, pleasant, and conversational. It was clear that the team enjoyed working with each other. This is an exceptional example of leadership by example which has created a culture of positivity and service. I highly recommend the Washington Plaza Hotel experience. For my part, I’ve found my new favorite pillow spot in DC. …
The room was clean and comfortable, as most hotels we stay in are. What impressed us was the consistent focused attention to details. From the staff in the restaurant making sure our meal was served in a timely manner (their standards, we were in no hurry) to the front desk giving us helpful tips to navigating DC streets, to housekeeping’s meticulous routine, we were always treated as very welcome guests.
Treasure exhibited what it means to provide quality service to an out of town guest. If there is a promotion for her, do it now. She explained everything thoroughly and I have no complaints. Aelita and Evelin are just as amazing too.
Bryan, Joy, Evelin, Flannery, Alva, Dave, Gladys, Shane, and Wilson were simply outstanding. There is no request left unmet. Always polite, cordial, and solicitous, these individuals are keepers! Can't wait to be back! Thank you for being so professional! Ruth Weinfeld, room 325
We stayed at the WPH for a Friday night for my wife's company holiday party, immediately impressed by the amicable professionalism of *everyone* of the staff with whom we interacted. It was literally a sheer delight with the check-in staff, parking process, and a visit to their lounge bar in this very quiet hotel. Superbly located on Thomas Circle in the nation's capitol, the beautiful view from the upper west-facing rooms is that of a European city; we spent some time just watching the crowd from our eighth floor room huge windows (with excellent light-blocking shades) . The only ding is that the garage is a bit expensive, but it's *quite* convenient and roomy, too. We will definitely be back for a quick weekend escape in the near future. Many thanks to the staff!
