The Phoenix Park Hotel garners high marks for its immaculate cleanliness and charming atmosphere, with the Dubliner pub adding to the lively experience. Nestled in a prime location near Union Station, it's a hit with guests eager to explore nearby attractions on foot. While the staff's warm and attentive service is often lauded, some guests have noted occasional inconsistencies.
The accommodations are generally well-regarded for comfort, though their size and lack of certain amenities, such as in-room coffee makers, receive mixed feedback. Opinions on value for money show divergence, with dining prices and room value seen as reasonable by some, but the cost of bottled water in the rooms is a point of contention for others.

Hotel's Favorite
Before booking our stay at The Phoenix Hill, I wrote an email to the hotel manager, David Hill, informing him of the circumstances of our upcoming trip to DC. Mr. Hill wrote back extending a generous offer and a warm welcome to his hotel. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk staff carried on the warm welcome. We were early for check-in so we expected to leave our bags while we toured the FBI building, but we were surprised to find our room was ready. And what a room it was. We stayed in the 2-floor Kerry Suite and my tween son's jaw dropped when he walked in. Modern, tasteful furniture throughout and no carpet (which to me is a good thing). The small bottle of Bailey's and the chocolate bars in the room were another welcome touch. That and the hot cocoa machine on floor 2 were highlights for my son.
Any problems we had were addressed immediately:
My son had a small injury when we arrived (he didn't get it at the hotel) and the front desk was great with providing antibiotic ointment and bandaids.
The suite did have a K-cup machine, but had just one caffeinated pod, the rest were decaf. When I called to ask for more caffeinated pods, the front desk employee personally brought it up.
We ate at the Dubliner 3 times, 2 dinners and 1 breakfast. One time our meal had a series of unfortunate events and the waiter took care of the bill without me even asking. I really enjoyed hearing live Irish music during our first dinner. It's not often I can go out to dinner with my child, grab a pint, and hear Wild Rover.
The location of The Phoenix Hill is great and is reason enough for a recommendation and return visit. It is across from the Union Station Metro and the $1 Circulator. We also were able to walk to some of our destinations like the Capitol building and the Library of Congress on the non-rainy days. The Smithsonian National Postal Museum is across the street. For breakfast, is you don't want the Dubliner, the Corner Bakery Cafe is 2 doors down.
Our days were so full that unfortunately we didn't spend much time at the hotel, but it was instant relaxation to walk into the lobby when we returned in the evenings. I will agree with one reviewer that there is a loud HVAC system (maybe it depends on your floor/room?), but we were so tired at the end of the day that we always fell asleep within minutes of our heads hitting the comfy pillows.

We stayed at the Phoenix Park Hotel last weekend for our Wedding Anniversary, we wanted to stay in a hotel which was close to the national mall and some other places if interest we wanted to visit and the Phoenix Park was just that.
Since Covid-19 we had literally not left the house except to go to work each day so this was a big venture out of our comfort zone. But the second we got to the hotel we were completely at ease, the hotel lobby was Covid safety set up with sanitizer at a number of stations, perspex at the checkin counter and masks worn and gloves by all staff. I had requested an earlier check-in with Sharon the day before which was no problem, we were told when we arrived they were getting the room ready and asked us to wait so we did for a short while.
To our complete shock and surprise they were preparing to upgrade us to a suite!! I could not believe our luck and complete shock (I honestly was happy with the early check-in). The suite were were given the Kerry Suite was absolutely stunning, it had a split level loft style layout with two bathrooms, huge living room and gorgeous bedroom with 2 flat screen tv's, spoilt is an understatement! The room was absolutely beautiful, clean and modern! We didn't want to actually go out then. Sharon on the front desk even called to see our reaction to the room, such great customer service.
The next day we took advantage of the amazing barista self service coffee station which had an amazing selection of fresh coffees all in a modern elegant room with marble floors, chandeliers and gorgeous furniture. Next morning checkout was so simple and stress free, the assistant Manager who organized our upgrade was also there who was so hospitable and caring even said we could have stayed longer.
Over all we had an amazing stay at the Phoenix Park hotel, being from Ireland myself it was a little home from home for me, the resident bar The Dubliner was fantastic amazing staff from Ireland who I met there too (I will review separately). The Hotel and Bar was super welcoming and made me feel right at home. Fantastic customer service, it was so clean and we felt super safe staying there. We cannot wait to come back again for another city break. I couldn't recommend The Phoenix Park Hotel more highly! Super Stay! Thank you so much Phoenix Park Hotel Staff, we are so grateful for your kindness and hospitality!

Honestly , this is the best hotel experience I ever had my whole life . The expectations were beyond met , like it blew me away how generous the services were . The staff were friendly , and even provided some flexibility for my personal issue with scheduling . I can't say much about the restaurant , but the local Corner Bakery was seriously amazing . Great breakfast and just really yummy .
One amazing thing that impressed me was the in - room delivery for towels and amenities . It was quick and the view was splendid . Also this is super close to Union Station , like it's crazy how affordable and quality this hotel is . But , one issue has to addressed . This isn't the issue with the hotel it self , but the location . The road between the hotel and the station usually has homeless people . At night it can be scary , so take that to consideration if you're interested in the station . Especially if you're alone or with kids , but don't let that detour you if you don't mind going a slightly longer route .
The location is great besides that . Limes are accessible , and the monuments are super close . We're literally across the street from National Postal Museum and The National Guard Memorial !
Coronavirus . Let's talk about that . People are safe in this location , and all the stores provide hand sanitizers and safe options . Housekeeping isn't daily , but that's for the safety for everyone . Instead they offer options to deliver it straight to you . It's fantastic . I recommend it !

I visited this hotel for business several years ago and had a great experience. When planning a leisure weekend in DC this was the first place that came to mind. I visited over Valentines Day weekend and greatly enjoyed my stay. All the staff was very friendly, starting with the valet/doorman, onto the front desk, and then housekeeping team members I encountered. There is a nice coffee bar on the second floor serving complimentary coffee and tea in the mornings, so that was a nice touch. I also loved the location - the views are great and there are a number of nice places to dine just a short walk from the hotel. I very much look forward to my next return to the Phoenix Park Hotel!

We traveled from Florida via Amtrak; this hotel is 1/2 block from Union Station. When we wheeled our bags over, what do we see right up the street: the Capitol!!! Ok, it was a ways off but we could see it! Everything was very clean and they had a strict policy of masks and hand sanitizers. Plus rooms were only rented more than 24 hours after occupancy and deep cleaning.
There is a wonderful Irish pub on the premises, The Dubliner Restaurant. Very pleased with our meals. Our room was directly on the main street, and it was very q u I e t. Our 3 days/2 nights went too fast but we will stay there again on our next visit.

I was in town for three days on this particular stay. I absolutely love the Phoenix Park Hotel. I have never had a bad stay and the staff is always exceptionally helpful and courteous. I love the decor and as a man with Irish heritage, I especially like that you can get a pint or a hearty Irish meal in the Dubliner on the first floor. As far as historic hotels go, you wont find one nicer! This hotel can't be beat when it comes to location. It is a quick walk to Union Station, the Capital and all of the associated office buildings, so for my work, this is always perfect. I have also learned that even if you are just playing in DC, this is a great location because anything you can't or don't want to walk to, you just hop on the Metro that is virtually across the street. This area is also so busy that taxis, Ubers and Lyfts abound. You just can't go wrong at the Phoenix Park Hotel!

Me and my wife had the opportunity to stay at Phoenix Park Hotel on the last week of December 2019, for about 5 days. We were coming in from NYC, where we had spent 7 days, and needed a change of pace.
The bus left us at Union Station, we got out onto the sidewalk, and walked a mere 2 minutes to get to Phoenix Park. The entrance itself is gorgeous. The staff wonderfully greeted us, the bellhop took our luggage, and we were inside our room on the 4th floor within 5 minutes. From what we could see, there were at least 2 quick elevators next to the lobby.
The room was good enough for both of us, a little cramped in terms of walking space. Great TV with cable, A/C, beautiful furniture, great bathroom, and from our window we could look out at Union Station on the left and the Capitol on the right.
There was a small problem with the shower head, we called it in, and it was fixed while we were away. The closet had bathrobes for us, just in case, as well as hair dryer, iron, plenty of shelves, etc.
Union Station (1 minute walk) has plenty of stores, including restaurants, all good stuff. 10 minutes away there's a WalMart if you need to buy anything. There's also a pastry shop on the block.
The walk to the Capitol can be done in about 15-20 minutes, but if you're going to the National Mall, monuments and museums, the Red DC Circulator ($1 bus) stop is 1 minute away as well. Just ask at the lobby and they'll guide you in the right direction. The bus will get you to one edge of the National Mall in about 5 minutes, starting with the Capitol section, or go around it, and get to Lincoln Memorial in about 15 minutes.
From the lobby, you can go through the building into the Dubliner Pub, where you can have Irish meals, beer, maybe listen to some music (live?), all-in-all a great experience.
Check out was also extremely fast. At the end of our trip, we walked 1 minutes to Union Station, where we took the MARC train to the Baltimore airport (BWI), which follows a tight schedule, if you need to be assured that you'll get somewhere in time.
Great hotel experience, will repeat!

My trip to DC was to attend a family member's internment at Arlington National Cemetery. I needed a place to stay that was near Union Station as I did not want to rent a car. The Phoenix Park Hotel was perfect, beyond its mere two-block walk from the station.
In these months of pandemic, I was hesitant even to travel. But the Phoenix Park Hotel had guidelines in place that surpassed my expectations. The room was spotless - even handheld items were in plastic bags. The excellent coffee/tea service area was clean, even in the early afternoon. I found it so easy to relax!
The staff was warm, attentive, and sincere. Derrick at the front desk was knowledgeable about closings in the area and great places to take our meals. I arrived much earlier than the 3pm check-in, but he was able to hand me a room key hours before then.

It was great to stay at the Phoenix Park once again. The hotel offers a consistent combination of personal service, clean, well decorated rooms and a location that can’t be beat, particularly for for folks with business on the Hill or visiting DC by train. The staff at the front desk knew my name and treated me like an old friend. I’ve stayed in some very special and unique rooms, with plenty of space, interesting layouts and quality fixtures and amenities. In a city filled with the chain hotels, many of which are quite nice, the Phoenix Park is my new favorite choice.

We stayed at the Phoenix Park hotel to celebrate a birthday and break up the motony of what 2020 has brought us. The set up of the suite made it very easy for us to relax in the living rooms, prepare food in the butler's pantry and have a formal dinner in the the dinning room. The bed was very comfortable and it was the first time I wasn't ready to get back to my own bed. My son enjoyed a burger in the Dubliner restuarant and I asked if it was delicious and he said it was "delectable". The staff was very friendly and I felt comfortable with the measures that were taken to stay safe in this pandamic.

If you are referring to packages sent to hotel for you or a guest, yes we do. Just indicate the guest name and date of arrival. Thank you
We are one city block from Union Station - the rail and intercity bus station and also the METRO stop for Red Line.
I’m so sorry that I don’t have the answer to this question but they were so very very nice there that I’m sure they would answer your question if you called them and if I were a betting person, I’d say that they probably accommodate wheelchairs, etc. Good luck, I hope you get to stay there
We do not allow bicycles upstairs in our rooms. We will endeavor to assist our guests to place them in a suitable location.
