Detailed Reviews
I didn't know what to expect when booking since the reviews were mixed but overall I had a pleasant experience. Beginning with reservations, I contacted the hotel in advance of my trip and had spoken with Priscilla Benner regarding the rates that I had seen online not comparing with what I was quoted. Without any hesitation she adjusted my rate for two nights. There is an option to add breakfast to your reservation but I opted not to include it. Upon arrival, the staff was very friendly and I didn't have any issues with the room itself. It was clean and it had what I needed for two nights. Sure it could have used a few updates but I was rarely in my room during my trip to even notice. I also had a great view of the Capitol Building. The hotel is very close to major attractions. There weren't a lot of food options in the immediate area but with a 10-15 minute walk or drive you can access other options nearby. The hotel also offers a free shuttle during the week and on Saturdays. This is drop off only but really comes in handy to save on Uber/Lyft or other transportation related costs. I would recommend this hotel if you are seeking a budget friendly option that isn't too far from the major museums and National Mall. Comparable options with similar rates that I had originally considered were 40-45 minutes away.

We enjoyed our time at the hotel as we were only in DC for a short time period. We got the room with a Capital view and enjoyed it from the 5th floor. We didnt have a lot of time to sightsee so this made us feel like we were able to enjoy one of the places we wanted to see.The parking package was reasonable but glad we knew to ask. The staff was friendly and able to resolve an error made on our part. Everything was clean although I do have to say, the toilet paper roll holder was built in a bit too far back so you had to twist to get the paper. A bit weird but... Totally enjoyed the stay, would return again!

Hello 410karrih Thanks for your great feedback! Glad to hear your guest room on the 5th Floor had a great view of the Capitol. I appreciate you booked Park & Stay Promo which is a great value. We will look into the location paper roll holder to see if it can be moved to a more convenient location. Look forward to welcome you back soon! Truly Ken Helmy

I will start with the positive: the young man who checked me in was accommodating in my request for a change in rooms. The negative: broken iron which spilled dirty water all over my suit. Sent my son down to get it replaced before my meetings the next morning and was told that housekeeping would have to deliver it the next day?? Was told that I also couldn't get a hairdryer until the next day, either. I don't think I have stayed in a hotel in the last ten years that didn't include a hairdryer. The shower had maybe one shower's worth of hot water in it. Just a little disappointed after reading the favorable reviews of this hotel.

Hello middleskoolcrazy Thank you for taking time to write your review. I appreciate you bringing this service deficiency to my attention. I shared your comments with our Housekeeping Manager. There's definitely a communication breakdown, both hairdryer and iron are available in all our guestrooms and in stock. Also surprised to learn you had a hot shower and then the second shower did not. I'll investigate with our chief engineer how that may have happened. Please accept my sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused. I would like to invite you back on your next visit and hope you will give us this opportunity to win you back! Best regards, Ken Helmy

This outdated hotel is NOT prepared for an emergency. We experienced a power outage during our stay that lasted over 6 hours. After about 45 minutes, the emergency lighting in the 2 concrete stairwells went out and the Exit signs in the hallways also ran out of battery power. People had to use their cell phones to light the way. The phones in the rooms and lobby were also out, so we had to walk down 7 flights of stairs in the dark every time we wanted to find out what was happening. Hotel staff tried to create a bit of light at the bottom of the stairs by propping open the doors to the outside...creating a total lack of security. We ultimately left for another hotel, which was newer and nicer in every way with extremely helpful staff. Would NEVER recommend this property!!

Hello lizIA6111BB Thanks for your feedback! We're aware of the recent power outage that occurred and apologize for any inconvenience caused. Guests who decided to check out due to the power outage were reimbursed for unused nights due to all Volleyball Tournament bookings being prepaid in full. Guests who did not check out received complimentary parking and meals during their stay. There were no guests who received or were informed that they would receive full refunds for their stay. Please note that the power outage was beyond the hotel's control and several city blocks were affected. The power outage lasted 5 total hours on Saturday morning. By Saturday afternoon at 2 pm the power was restored, our facilities and services were back full-swing and then some to make up for the lost time. Also, it is important to note our Chief Engineer and team replaced emergency light batteries immediately! I hope this provides some clarification concerning our neighborhood outage which was not in anyone's control. Our team handled this incident with utmost professionalism considering the circumstances. The vast majority of our guests appreciated our concerted efforts to mitigate this situation. Truly Ken Helmy

Hotel was nice and clean, some front desk were nicer then others. Highly suggest turning the ac/heat on as central air was hot on the 4th floor. Supplying bigger fans then given. Microwaves or fridge was all the way down stairs. Hotel is not very accommodating upset over already booked a trip in April that’s non refundable as well.

Convenient location (which was the main reason I chose it). Clean, pleasant atmosphere; comfortable bed. Enjoyed walking to Slipstream for my morning coffee. I like the hotel but there were down sides: My room (731) was too warm even at the thermostat's coldest setting. Still, warm air blew out of the vent. I overheard another guest complaining about this. We walked to the front desk together to inquire about it and were told something about the AC being turned off in the winter - making it an unresolvable issue at that time. I was offered another room but it was my last night and was too inconvenient to make the move. For relief, I'd turn the heating system off, then turn it back on when it got too cold. Not fun in the middle of the night. The shower pressure was disappointingly low and, less importantly, there was no hook in the bathroom for a toiletry bag, etc.
Because the hotel is so close to the relative I visit there, I may well visit again. If I do so in the summer, I suspect I'll enjoy it lots more - as I should be able to regulate the room temp better at that time of year.

Hello ALCConnecticut Thank you for taking time to write your review. I apologize for any inconvenience caused due to temperature control. We have started a project to address your concerns. Also noted to place hook nearby the vanity area, which is a great idea and will be ready on your next visit! We offer complimentary coffee in Lapidus, plus there's an option for Continental breakfast should you choose instead of American Buffet breakfast. Look forward to welcome you back in the Summer! Stayed for two days at The Capitol Skyline.
The hotel itself is what you would expect but with a rate at approx 80 dollar pr night you really get value for money.
Complimentary coffee is offered in the morning which is a nice addition.
I would return

In January, I booked this hotel for a trip to DC in September. Now, there are travel restrictions for people coming from CA to DC and I have to cancel this trip. The hotel refuses to refund my money. It is IMPOSSIBLE to get anyone on the phone. I sat on the line for 40 minutes with a ringing telephone, which no one answered. When I finally got to an answering machine, I left a message 3 times and received no response. I lived in DC for many years and remember this hotel fondly, but I will never stay there again and will advise everyone I know not to either.

This hotel is good value for money. It is not luxurious, nor the most modern hotel in town, but it is worth picking for a business or pleasure trip. I particularly want to emphasize the universal sense in every employee there to make a stay enjoyable. It was a universal ethos of the place, perhaps best shown repeatedly by Mirona, one of the employees at reception. But she simply personifies the friendly atmosphere at this hotel. I would definitely stay here again.

Reasonably priced on the South side of the Capitol, across the street from a park for exercise. It has everything you need. More updates than the outside view photos lead you to believe. Ask for the Capitol view side for your room. Great outdoor pool for summer - locals told us it’s a great people watching scene. No fridges in rooms. Breakfast is good. Bar serves meals if you get in late but no full restaurant. There’s a good Korean fusion restaurant a couple blocks away and the Wharf is a mile away. Hotel has a neighborhood feel. Staff is super friendly and helpful.

Kingston-upon-Hull, United Kingdom2 contributions3 helpful votesHi, do all rooms have tea/coffee making facilities?
Most hotels will charge a facility fee which covers the following cost:
Newspaper, WiFi, complimentary shuttle service, and bottled water in guestroom.
We do not place water in every guest room since we're not charging a facility fee
Not far, can’t remember specifics about time, but there is a very handy shuttle bus that leaves from outside the hotel and takes you into town, we got off at the Botanical Gardens to visit there and walked from there. Sorry I can’t be more precise
