The good...
Spacious rooms that include a kitchenette. Ours had a bedroom with two queen beds, a living room with a couch, desk and dining area for two. The room also includes a kitchenette with a full-sized refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker.

The hotel includes a nice breakfast spread that feels above average for complimentary breakfast offerings.

The bad...
The property feels run down and the rooms could use some TLC. From overall maintenance to basic cleaning and upkeep, this hotel could use a heavy handed update.
Housekeeping was hit or miss. Sometimes our room was fully serviced, some days it was only partially serviced (new towels but beds not made) and some days it wasn’t serviced at all.

Despite the hotel being a smoke-free property, the policy is not enforced and the property reeked of marijuana.

Location is decent but not stellar. Close enough to the city highlights but definitely not in a prime location.

I visited DC just two weeks ago and I loved the place. As a solo female, i always look after not only the comfort but my safety as well. I liked the hotel because it was a good deal - well it was winter after all, the off peak season. However, it was even better because it is just less than 5 mins walk from Foggy bottom - GWU metro station. I arrived 12 midnight but still safe to walk due to nearby hospita / school.

The room they gave me was a corner room with hallway, kitchen and a main living space. The furnishing may be outdated but I am comfortable which is most important. There were two smart tvs which i really appreciate cause i use it whenever my feet hurts from walking from lincoln memoria to capitol hills. One tv in the living space and another one in the bedroom.

The bathroom was clean and spot on

Breakfast was generic for me as I am a health concious peron so i would normally have a heaping of the oatmeal and banana + black coffee which is already okay to boost some energy before the sightseeing. Normal breakfast like waffles and bread and cold brew coffee are available.

Overall, it was a very good stay. Hotel needs updating but what I really appreciate is the location. I am able to go to Arboretum, georgetown, cathedral from the area easily due to the various bus stops located nearby. Food is also not a big problem due to the proximity of wholefoods or nearby restaurants and GWU.

I will stay here again when I visit DC.

This place is very convenient for people coming to settle their children to the GWU .Very near to GWU,metro station, seven eleven is also very near. Some issues faced are:
The Luggage shifting trolley was either frail or very heavy, lift got over load due to very have trolley, moving the heavier trolley was not smooth, the lighter trolley was fragile it s handle came out while moving.
Valet for loading /unloading the luggage is required
American Breakfast should have at least omlette every day.
There was no hot milk available , it has to be requested.
Also the room air conditioner thermostat was not working if set on 23 degree centigrade, it used to blow hot air?
The kitchenette in the room was loaded amply ,all sort of utensils were available.

I am a Teacher, so I appreciate a nice getaway or event whenever possible. Along with three of my educator friends, I purchased a ticket to the Aretha Franklin Tribute at the Kennedy Center for my New Years Celebration. We all knew we would be exhausted so we decided to get a hotel near the event to rest for the evening once the event was over. Well, we NEVER rested! We stayed on the fifth floor and our room was adjacent to another room. That room was filled with 20 something year olds and underage teenagers partying into the night. I realize it was New Year's eve, but after numerous complaints, why couldn't they just switch our room? It was terrible. We saw numerous people getting off the elevator bringing big bottles of liquor. The music was loud, they were screaming, throwing bottles up against the walls and fighting out in the hall and Residence Inn staff did nothing to help us or the numerous other guest that kept calling the front desk to complain. At one point, the front desk clerk said, "Well, it is New Years!" I said well, I did pay over $200 for one night to get some rest, but I guess that didn't matter, because the partying continued. We never got any sleep until after 5AM. No matter how many staff members we voice our concerns to, they didn't seem to care. I almost wonder if they were related to the people partying. Is there no consideration for other guest in these situations? Even on holidays? I am a Marriott Rewards member and I always choose this brand over any other, but I will think twice next time.

We stayed her for 3 nights at Memorial Day weekend with two of our kids, one college age and one late teen. I chose this property because of the location and room type, which offered a two-bed room for a regular free night level of points. It worked out great! We paid for parking on Friday night in the small hotel lot, and then Saturday morning saw a spot open on the street. We moved the car there and left it parked the rest of the weekend. The metro stop is a very short walk away, right by a Whole Foods. There are many restaurants in walking distance. We even took a long walk back one day from the National Mall, past Vietnam and WWII memorials, all the way to the hotel. The room was clean and the configuration was perfect for us. The breakfast was sparse, they said because they were missing a delivery. That was the only aspect not up to usual Marriott standards. We would definitely stay here again and recommend it to others.

We gave this hotel several chances, overlooking the somewhat-dated room and furnishings and indifferent service (the front desk was rarely attended, requiring guests to call out for help), but after a few days we had had enough and moved to another hotel nearby. Our first room smelled of sewage, so we switched rooms on the next day (no apology from staff, but they were generally helpful). Then a fire broke out in their basement laundry the day after that, filling the building with smoke and forcing an evacuation for an hour or so (management did not reach out to us at all either during or after that episode). The last straw was finding a live bedbug in the room (though thankfully not in the bed). The staff member on duty tried to tell us it probably wasn't a bed bug (it was), and otherwise seemed unconcerned. At that point we could not leave fast enough.

I have to acknowledge that the staff were courteous, the complimentary breakfast was good, and the location of the hotel is excellent, close to GWU, the State Department, and the metro. However, the property is in dire need of an upgrade to its rooms to match the lobby area, and the service is not what one would expect given the price and the brand.

Location was convenient - well within a five minute walk to Foggy Bottom metro, a Whole Foods as well as a 7-11.

The room was generally clean and the kitchen was well equipped with the necessary kitchenware that one would need. It was also spacious given that there was a separate bedroom, but the toilet did feel slightly small.

Service from the staff at check in as well as at breakfast was great. We were always greeted warmly. The free breakfast was good but after a couple of days we wished there could be a little bit more variety.

The hotel could do with a bit of updating (I think there are plans to do so) but overall it was a pleasant stay

I stayed at this hotel when bringing my daughter to college at GW for her freshman year. Great location! I booked A mobility accessible room and it was horrible! I feel like they just stuck up grab bars to make it accessible. Toilet was lower than a standard toilet. Could not reach hand held shower because it was too far away. Towels are on a top shelf. Closet bar was up too high. I could go on and on.

After arriving home I wrote to Marriott because I would never expect it to be this bad bad . They are planning on upgrading the room so they meet ADA standards but not until November 2022!

I have no idea how they are getting away with this!

I am a platinum elite member who generally likes to use the Residence Inn brand. This one was was definitely not up to Marriot standards. We arrived late in the evening and were looking forward to showers and a good night’s sleep. Upon checking the bed, I found a hair. The water pressure was very light and the water warm at best. One of the towels was dirty. I immediately used the chat function for a complete change of sheets, towels, cleaning of the room and for the pressure to be fixed. My husband and I slept very poorly that night. In the morning, I tried to confirm that the sheets and towels would be changed and the pressure fixed with Eric at the front desk. I also tried to clarify some dietary information about some of the breakfast items after Atsed , the breakfast attendant, could not give my husband and son the information that they requested. He was rude , and spoke to me in a derogatory fashion. He actually accused me of not trying to ask the breakfast attendant. After cleaning, there was a foreign hair on the shower wall and water pressure was fixed only slightly. This place is NOT up to Marriott standards. Eric needs to be trained on how to treat a guest and shown that guests, especially Platinum levels ones, are to be valued , NOT INSULTED.

I stayed a night, as others have remarked its in a good quiet area of the west end near Foggy Bottom Metro and GWU and the hospital.
The hotel is showing age, the room was spacious but on the tired side. There was no coffee in the room and none of the soap / shampoo dispensers worked or had anything to use while using the shower.
Service was lacking, they had no breakfast stated due to covid but they could at least try like other hotels do and put out some foot to take away.
Frustratingly they had a bunch of fire alarm testing and people trying to get into rooms to look at equipment- it really made it hard to work and have some peace and quiet on a Monday morning, I left earlier due to this as as it was very loud.
So a few misses in my book- no soap/shampoo, no coffee, no breakfast, and very intrusive system tests.
