The Hampton Inn Washington Downtown Convention Center is applauded for its central location, deemed a value-for-money choice by many travelers due to its proximity to various attractions. Guests consistently commend the hotel's inviting atmosphere and cleanliness, though there have been sporadic lapses in housekeeping. While the staff receives recognition for their friendliness and professionalism, some guests encountered service issues. Despite the appreciation for its amenities, the high parking fees have led some to question the hotel's overall value. The rooms are generally praised for their comfort and spaciousness, yet a few have reported reservation and cleanliness concerns.

Just got home yesterday as this is my 2 part review. Part one, it appears they are still short staffed from the pandemic but the three staff members we met were very professional, helpful, and nice. Be patient if you need anything out of the norm as the front desk staff seems to be wearing extra hats right now. The hotel is really pretty since the recent renovations. I especially liked the extra ledge in front of the mirror in our bathroom to set toiletries on. We had the last room at the rear of the hotel (#1023), on the 10th floor, facing 6th street. Our view was of an office building. Nothing special but not bad either. Apparently there is a fire station nearby. We heard the sirens but they never woke us up during the night. The A/C unit has a "fan on" button that we left running to help drown out any background noise, plus we always travel with personal portable fans. We never heard any "hotel noise" and were really happy with how quiet it was. Beds a super firm. Great for some, not for others. They have just resumed the hot breakfast buffet. We had to put on disposable gloves to serve ourselves but no one seemed to mind. It was the usual: hot drinks, juice, cereal, scrambled eggs, sausage patty, make your own waffles, etc. Great for families with kids or anyone on a budget but we opted to walk to a nearby restaurant most mornings. There were several good restaurants and a few convenience stores to walk to. We walked to the Metro to get to all of the museums. You could walk to the National Mall but I wouldn't recommend it in the hot months. It's humid and hot and really humid...and did I mention humid...plus the walk to see all of the memorials is quite a distance. Take advantage of the Circulator Bus (free until September 30, 2021. Starting October 1, 2021, it's only $1 and you can use your Metro card.)
Part two, this hotel is in a not so great area. This is out of their control, but people should be aware. The worst Metro Station we encountered all week was the one nearest the hotel (Gallery Place-7 minute walk). Open selling of drugs and open drug use literally right in the middle of the entrance. Day and night.

This Hampton Inn is unique in that it has a small restaurant and bar on-site. The selections aren't huge, but for a Hampton Inn, it's definitely unique. On-site staff mentioned that there are only 2 or 3 Hampton Inns in the U.S. with a bar/restaurant. This area came with some inviting seating that was also great for getting some work done.

The location is pretty good, only a couple of blocks from the convention center, and near a lot of dining options. It was about a 5-10 minute walk from the Gallery Place Metro Station. Ths rooms were modern and clean. My bed was a bit hard for my liking, but I still ended up with a good night's sleep. Overall, not a bad option for the Convention Center area.

The staff was rude the accused me of not giving them back their complementary key card like I stole it then realized he was wrong the same guy then gave us false information about off street parking. The heating and cooling system in our room was loud and clanky could hardly sleep.every time you would shower it would flood the floors .you would have to use your towels to soak up the floor and when you'd ask for new ones they looked at you like you had two heads.the location is the only thing this hotel has going for it because the staff is rude and accusing and lying got hung up on multiple times before even getting there just to confirm the room. We travel several times a year and this has to be the worst hotel stay we've ever been to.

Excellent location in downtown DC. But my main complaint is that they charged a hefty security deposit of $100 per night to my card at check-in, which they said would be refunded after 10+ days.. just unacceptable !! Like not a total of $100 (which would still be unacceptable), but $100 per night, just imagine !! I wouldn't have booked this hotel if I had known about this additional charge before. Stay away if you don't want to get ripped off !!
Also rooms are not being cleaned everyday due to COVID, and they will give you packed breakfast which included a frozen muffin, tiny frozen croissant, an orange and a tiny cup of yogurt. Tea/coffee is available free of charge in the lobby throughout the day though. Complimentary toiletries were also provided.

The best things about this hotel for a volleyball tournament were the location to the convention center (one block on Mass Ave and then one by Mt Vernon Square) and the breakfast (we love the fruit and yogurt smoothies, and french toast sticks). We also enjoyed carry out food from Farmers and Distillers right across the street. The hotel is dated and was under renovation. The pool is closed indefinitely. The beds were comfortable. The heat was loud when it would come on, which did not disturb my daughters but was somewhat disruptive for my husband and me. At check in, the staff was friendly and helpful. The front desk staff were less helpful when I needed a hairdryer and had to go hunt someone down when it never arrived to my room. It was what we expected.

Came to town to see the DC area and this hotel is within walking distance of most of the museums and monuments. It is exactly a mile east of the north lawn of the White House.

Marcus checked us in and was very helpful and welcoming. He was able to get our rooms together (same floor). Perfect first impression!

I would recommend parking at the public parking garage at 600 Massachusetts Ave. Very clean and secure parking garage directly across the street. Check in take your thing to your room then go park your vehicle. Parking here saved 25-30 dollars a day.

The hotel is in the process of renovations starting on the 2nd floor. There is no longer a pool and the fitness room is temporarily closed as part of the renovations.

The lobby is nice and always has coffee, tea and hot chocolate available.

Breakfast is good considering it's included in your room cost. They offer plenty of fresh fruits and the common breakfast items such as eggs scrambled and hard boiled, waffle iron, cereal and other items.

There is a Safeway grocery store less than a 5 min walk from the hotel which was also great.

For the price, service and location we will definitely stay here again when we visit DC again.

Front desk staff was very affable, and Christoph was extremely helpful in printing up an invoice that reflected the fact that I paid for only two nights, even though I stayed for three (sharing all two of those three nights with a work colleague). Unfortunately, my colleague and I didn't realize that we had to announce upon check-in that we were splitting the bill evenly. But again, Christoph did what he could to help. The bathroom shower had a constant leak out of the faucet handle, and the toilet took a lot of flushes to get rid of all of the waste. Also, the pillows were not comfortable, but this was par for the course. The fitness room was sufficient. The breakfast was adequate, although it couldn't compare to the breakfast at the Embassy Suites, which is why I said "maybe" in terms of returning to the Hampton Inn. If a room at the Suites is available, I'll probably go there instead. But, I appreciate the effort that the Hampton staff put in, always greeting me kindly upon entering/leaving the front door.

I was a bit worried because of some of the low star reviews but the hotel was great value for the location which was within walking distance of all main city centre attractions but also near restaurants and a supermarket. Room was comfortable, clean and spacious, all staff were friendly efficient and helpful. Free breakfast had a great selection of food which did not run out and was not overcrowded. Overall a great hotel. Only downside was room might need a bit of updating but it was not an issue.

Location is good. Room is spacious and clean and bed is comfortable. Coffee and apples available at lobby are thoughtful and warmth especially during winter. Water dispenser is always appreciated to ease guests from carrying heavy water bottles back. Breakfast is good but scambled eggs could be better. At least they bother to make some varieties of change daily unlike many others. Juices are fantastic I reiterate. Sound proof of room and drainage at bathtub not perfect but overall I still like the stay as others made up for it. Front desk is helpful and couteous.
