The room is basic and comfortable and the campus is quiet and welcoming. The hotel is a short distance away from Union Market with a wealth of dining options. We walked from the hotel to the Capitol area through lovely neighbourhoods. But, we paid $106 to park there for two nights. Seriously? A great place to stay as long as you don't have a car.

This hotel is inside the campus of Gallaudet University. This was a very cozy place, even it is at the center of DC. There is a supermarket (Trader Joe's) near the hotel where you can grab fresh food. Union Market is just in front of the campus. The metro station that is next to the Union Station is accessed by 5 min walk. Everything was fine during my business stay for 3 nights. A wide desk was in the room. I could have comfortably prepared for the manuscripts as I am at home.
Because it is on the university campus, you can find wonderful academic buildings that would make you reminded the nostalgic about the good old days.
Breakfast was quite good, although it is nothing special.
I stayed at different hotels so far, when I visited DC. I am sure to stay at this hotel on future occasions to visit DC.

I visited my daughter who went to Gallaudet University in Washington DC. I stayed in the hotel on campus on January 22, 2020. The hotel was around $150.00 for a room after taxes but parking was an additional $40.00 which was outrageous. However, having said that, the room was really nice and clean and if I were to stay in DC again I would certainly think about staying there.
It's a little hard to find since it is LITERALLY in the middle of campus and at night they close all gates except one, but I think it was good.

Location inside a college campus. On the positive side the staff was very nice and polite. The beds were comfortable and the room was in good condition and clean. On the negative, the first night I arrived, which was after 10pm, I heard vacuuming in the next room. The walls are very thin and I had noisy neighbors. Cleaning staff, at least I think it was cleaning staff, was very loud some mornings. I was there for 4 nights and no one cleaned my room the entire time I was there. That's just not acceptable. I picked this place because it was close to the person I was there to see. Next time I will pick a different hotel. There are so many other places to stay in this city.

For starters, my bathroom was partially clean when I checked in. Soap scum in dish and human hairs (pubic and head) was everywhere (floor, tub, sink, toilet base). The front door jams. So if you don’t pull it shut forcefully you run the risk of leaving your room unsecured like I did until I realized it. Not sure who she was (African American middle aged female), but she was very rude to me and not accommodating when I arrived. She looked like she could have been a manager. The only microwave in the hotel is “on the 3rd floor for VIP guests” is what I was told when I asked. The rooms are outdated too. For the amount of money I paid per night it wasn’t worth it. I was only there for a conference and I didn’t choose the hotel. They even tried to make me pay for parking although I told them I was there for a conference. The TV had a portable camera attached. Not sure why, but it creeped me out. Also, when I left out to go to my conference, someone came in my room and restocked towels and threw out trash but left my bed left unmade. There is one other weird thing that happened but I can’t prove, I think someone put water in my make up remover container that was in the bathroom. The next time I used it it didn’t apply on my face the same and the consistency of the liquid wasn’t the same. I would never stay there again. BTW I was on the 4th floor.

SBA1972- Greetings and thank you for your candid feedback. There are certain matters of your stay I deeply regret you experienced. And I will do everything that I possibly can as a manager to correct these issues. I did however wanted to take a moment to specifically discuss your Video Camera concern. KCH is located on Gallaudet University. The University caters to the deaf community. The video camera in the room sole purpose is for for the convenience of our deaf guests. The camera is not on unless you turn it on. Thank you again for bringing your concerns to my attention. Your candid feedback will only aid us on improving on our customer service.

The service here was terrible. I reserved a king room, but upon checking in (and after waiting 40 minutes in line) I was told that housekeeping was behind, and they could only offer me an “Executive Queen” room. I asked if I could just take the queen for the night, and switch to king the next day, and the gentleman said “you can try, but I doubt it. We are pretty busy.” I reluctantly agreed to take the queen room, because I had plans I needed to get ready for. And I figured that being an executive room, it would have better amenities. It did not. None of the amenities listed on the website were present in the room. The next day when I inquired about switching, I kept being told to “check back later”, only to eventually be told that they had sold out of king rooms for the night. I did email the company to give them the opportunity to make the situation right, but they chose not to respond.

Parking is EXPENSIVE, area is NOT safe after dark. Room is nothing special. There is a shuttle to Union Station that is free. Despite what other reviews tell you, the Trader Joe’s is not close. It’s a walk, not next door, it’s a good walk through a bad area after dark. So you have to PLAN for dinner ahead of time. If you drive to say, Subway, then you have to plan for that too because there’s no place to park. It’s just not a convenient location. That said, my daughter needed a band aide and they had some at the front desk and she was really nice about it. Breakfast is an extra $25 pp. we did not elect to do that. If you go to Union Station to go to DC, I recommend grabbing food there on your way out, as there are only sketchy food trucks and museum food once you leave. I’d also recommend eating at Union Station on the way back so once you shuttle to the hotel, no need to go back out at night for food. I wish we thought of that sooner.

The hotel was okay the mattress would slip off the bed and it is in need of a few upgrades. I was also unaware that there was a 50$ charge for parking so while I thought I was saving I ended up paying more than I expected. It is centrally located which is good my first stay in 2018 was nice so I expected the same but was disappointed. We had no access to gates so we would have to walk all the way around the campus to go in and out very inconvenient.

I had a group of 12 college students and another staff member, and we had a very good week staying here. It's a great location and accessible to so much in the city. We had to leave early because of COVID-19 and had to rearrange plans, and the hotel staff were very gracious and accommodating to that. I highly recommend this location for your future travel.
