The guest services at Melrose Georgetown is amazing. The staff is incredibly pleasant and easy to talk to. They accommodated all of our needs - we requested a toothbrush, earplugs, silverware for Postmates meals and extra towels/linens which were promptly delivered to our room. They will hold your luggage prior to checkin and after checkout, if needed. The room was spacious and comfortable. Our double/full bed room had a chaise, desk and open floor space that allowed our group to spread out comfortably. Location is walkable at any time of day and close to most major destinations. Scooter/bike/Uber can get you to most hotspots in about 5-15 minutes. I got to most of my destinations in less than 30 minutes by walking/metro. I absolutely would stay here again and will recommend to friends and family.

COVID Notes: The rooms and linens are all clean and there is hand sanitizer throughout the hotel. The restaurant/room service is closed and housekeeping only comes every other day instead of every day. The dc metro schedules are modified but shouldn’t be an issue unless you plan to be out past 11. None of the above affected my stay.

Greetings & Salutations,

The Melrose is without doubt one of my favorite and one of the best hotels in Washington D.C. I have been a guest since 2018, when I first discovered this amazing gem on HotelTonight. I must also rrite them a thank you note as well for introducing me to Melrose.

These are overwhelming and confusing times, the global pandemic has turned everyone’s life on it’s head. Given quarantine guidelines, one can easily imagine how it might feel stressful to stay in hotel – shared quarters.

I do not have that stress because of the incredible staff here at the Melrose. Everyone I have encountered here has made my stay beautiful. Each member of the staff takes safety precautions seriously. They do not do this in a domineering or controlling way – but do so in the most pleasant manner. The demeanor makes guests comfortable – knowing that sanitation and quarantine guidelines are being adhered to at the highest levels of management.

I see how the staff treat and interact with one another – it’s inspiring and I wish we could all engage like this out there in the world. The events on our world stage would be entirely different if people operated with the same kindness, generosity, authenticity, and genuine care as the staff at Melrose. It has brought me much peace to see interactions amongst themselves and with other guests, including myself, in such a heartfelt way. It’s important to me that anyone who is working and considered an essential worker – is also given the same care and protection – that I, as a paying guest, I am receiving.

I have extended my stay multiple times. That is only because of the extraordinary staff that has made my stay so comfortable and memorable – I will never forget the kindness and warmth of this staff.

The entire staff was extremely friendly, I truly enjoyed every night here. There are many beautiful hotels in Washington D.C. and the surrounding region (DMV) – I have stayed at many of them over work trips. These include The Willard Intercontinental, The Fairmont, The Four Seasons, The Mandarin Oriental, The Mayflower – to name a few. Each of those hotels are lovely properties in their own right. I enjoyed the rooms and the amenities. The service was great too. But it was just that – great service – which is what one comes to expect with that type of name brand.

How does the service at those top hotels differ from what I experienced at The Melrose?

There is simply no comparison. To the point, where the above question itself, betrays the very experience I have been afforded. Not just this stay in June of 2020 but every stay since I first became acquainted in 2018. Here, it’s not the old adage, “Service with a smile”, but far deeper. What I have experienced is a genuine care and concern for my well-being. The staff here is service with all heart. And with that, no other hotels, regardless of their amenities, brand name, or stature amongst Washington elites, cannot compete.

The Melrose has an atmosphere that is so special that it really felt like home to me. All respect for every member of the staff who is great job here – especially during such a stressful time in our world. Melrose is a world class example and a true sample of excellent hospitality!

- Thank You!
Alexandra

Just enjoyed a wonderful stay at the Melrose with my family. We got a separate room for our two teens and they were able to place us right next to each other. We booked the most basic rooms and they were very spacious and nicely decorated. Loved the bump out nook w the couch, wall of windows, and the tucked away office area. Staff was very friendly and, although the dining/food service was closed due to covid, they were helpful in finding food for us to order takeout nearby and brought up nice dishes, silverware, glasses, etc. They also brought us up an extra bathrobe, which was amazingly comfortable. Location was great - we found free parking right across the street. Covid precautions were good. Sanitizer stands, 2 person limit in elevator.

Improvements:

Would have liked a pen and notepad on the desk for me to leave a thank you note for the housecleaning. Stain on lamp and on pillows on settee.

Rooms are nice, but windows are bad quality so that there is a lot of street noise. I never get why some hotels don’t invest in decently insulated windows.

The 35 usd per day extra fee for such extraordinary items as a safe and housekeeping is just BS. Trying to show a lower price and then hit people with fees. Not cool.

It’s a fine place but not spectacular. Try the Asian food across the street, who stay open a little extra late after lockdown.

The bad?

Any self-respecting four star hotel should have at least 2-ply toilet paper. Here, it’s 1-ply. My brown eye hurts!

Spacious room, very comfortable bed, very attentive and friendly hotel staff, especially Nurter, Lelise, Jacob, Aki and Malcolm. The door opening system by APP from the cell phone is very comfortable. The cleaning staff performs the service upon request, although towels are changed daily.
Breakfast is not included, you can have breakfast in the hotel restaurant, but we chose to have breakfast in a place a few meters from the hotel. The hotel bar and restaurant are open until 10 pm.

The room was very comfortable and the staff were all welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. The bed, pillows and linen were an excellent quality and the hotel is both quiet and handy for walking into central Washington (approx 1 mile). The room rate was also very fair for the quality of the accommodation - thank you all.

This was a last minute booking due to the flea bag motel that we originally had and canceled. We drove and this was the first place we saw. As soon as we walked in I noticed how clean it was and how good it smelled all throughout the hotel. I’m sensitive to smells but this was perfect. Friendly staff and the rooms were nice. They didn’t have valet up and running but it worked out because for one their valet is super expensive anyways and two we parked literally across the street (luck I suppose). Also they have Dish cable which went out for a few hours when a few raindrops fell and not a good channel selection. Other than that it was quiet, great location and the price wasn’t too bad either. I’d stay again.

The hotel is situated far from all touristic attractions. The rooms are spacious but bathroom is small. You cannnot take dinner in the hotel. Breakfast is served but is too pricy for the quality and quantity you get. You pay 21$ for small plate with two eggs and you only get 1 piece of toast. They charge you 5$ for extra toast and 9$ for two eggs extra! Better to take breakfast outside the hotel!
Rooms are only cleaned Evert two days so you don’t receive fresh towels every day!

Dear Bjorn S, Thank you for the feedback you provided about your stay! It is disconcerting that your feedback does not align itself with the majority of the feedback we receive. As a Washingtonian myself, Our Hotel is truly situated in one of the most accessible parts of the city. We are within 10 minute to the White House, 15 minute walk to the National Mall/Monuments and the Smithsonian Museums. Over 50+ restaurants and the Historic Georgetown Waterfront are within 2-15 minute walk of the Hotel! We are serving breakfast 7 days a week from 7AM to 11AM with a hearty American style breakfast. The bar and lounge have been open daily from Tuesday to Saturday, 5PM to 10PM to serve our tapas style menu. Starting this week, our full dinner menu will be served and breakfast, lunch and dinner will be available in the Hotel. We appreciate your review and I wanted to ensure that you had the correct information in regards to your experience. I wish you safe travels. Best, Abdulla Almutairi Director of Operations

I recently stayed at this hotel for a few nights on a combination of business and pleasure. Hotel is pristine and very much takes safety in terms of CVD19 seriously! There’s ample hand sanitizer machines in addition to very clear signage all over the hotel.

The best part of my stay were the staff. Each and every one of them go above and beyond for their guests. I was even given a room upgrade after I just asked. A few days I had to work remotely in my room and stayed at hotel most days and it really felt like my home away from home.

I had never stayed there before though come to DC often for work and was quite impressed with the value and entire hotel experience. It’s also very centrally located to the metro, shops and restaurants.

Thank you to the staff for making my week so pleasant. I will definitely be back!
