The Washington Marriott Capitol Hill garners praise for its chic atmosphere, with guests frequently complimenting the spacious, modern rooms and valued amenities like the expansive gym and blackout curtains. The hotel's location is widely celebrated for its proximity to key attractions and transport links, despite isolated concerns about the neighborhood's character.
While the hotel boasts a sterling reputation for cleanliness and commendable service, some visitors have mentioned minor drawbacks such as the absence of a pool and the need for stronger water pressure.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel has very mixed reviews probably due to how new it is, but I loved it. The hotel was very luxurious and modern. I felt comfort wash over me every time I entered their good smelling warm lobby with jazz playing in the background. The M Club served satisfactory breakfast and appetizers. The people complaining because they expected a full course gourmet meal are just being entitled. The staff was proactive in making sure we had a good experience, and we would even have full conversations with the front desk people after we got back from being out.
The room was spacious and comfy and the hotel has a walking path straight to the NoMa/Gaulladuet U station which connects you pretty easily to all of the more relevant tourist spots in DC. Overall, great hotel. A bit pricey but it’s worth it in my opinion. Would stay again.

I had a wonderful experience at this new property. Every staff member I encountered, from the doorman, to the front desk associate, to the hostess in the M Lounge were delightful, smiling and eager to help! They went above and beyond to help make my stay enjoyable. I wish I wasn’t just passing through!
All the staff I encountered made me feel like they were excited I was staying with them and they wanted to show off “their” property. Bintu at the front desk had a friendly, professional and informative welcome and specifically highlighted the onsite fitness center which is complimentary, is open 24 hours and looks amazing! I called the front desk and Tamesha was cordial and went out of her way to get me an answer to my inquiry on the spot so I did not need to call back. Additionally, I was recognized on Check in as a Bonvoy Elite member and thanked for my loyalty.
The M Lounge is also open 24 hours and served a wonderful breakfast, is nicely laid out and the hostess Tsehay, went out of her way to make sure I had everything I needed.
My room was clean, the bed was very comfortable, and there was plenty of room for sitting and working. They even had a steamer for my business suit!
I met the Rick, the General Manager and it is evident he is proud of the property and his team. He greeted me, solicited my feedback and really listened. I saw him interact with a staff member and it was clear he serves alongside of his staff and is invested in their experience also.
I stay at many hotels and this is on the top of the list of best stays/experiences ever. Thank you so much. I have already recommended it to my friends and colleagues for when they are in DC!

We stayed 2 nights to visit the city of Washington DC. The hotel is less than 5 minutes from the metro which is very convenient. The neighborhood has recently been rehabilitated. The big negative point is the proximity to the train and the metro right in front of the hotel. The noise can be very annoying especially if you are a light sleeper. We benefited from a great rate of $130 per night in a suite with lounge access. Daily housekeeping is not automatic and you must request it. Departure at 11 a.m. is a bit early. The 24-hour lounge offers breakfast, sweets in the afternoon and savory nibbles in the evening. There is no alcohol which is rare for a lounge. If you get a good rate, the hotel is of good category but the service could be better and the noise of the metro/train can prevent you from resting.

I’ve never written a bad review and so I feel really bad about this but I felt compelled to write this to help other travelers and hopefully help the hotel improve on their services, too.
I usually research and read multiple reviews prior to booking any hotel but decided to take a chance on this one despite the limited number of reviews having just opened recently. The property looked amazing in the pictures, plus it’s a Marriott.
However, upon arriving at the property at around 8pm for check-in, there was quite a long line at reception and a few moments later, someone came out to announce that the hotel was overbooked and that there were no more available rooms. They would have to move us to another property. We waited a few more moments and they allowed us to have dinner and drinks (for free) as we waited, which we appreciated. Food was delicious and the dining area was wonderful, as well.
They then gave us a letter addressed The Morrow, which was a hotel a few minutes a way. I asked if anyone would help us with our bags but no one assisted us. We were given directions though so my husband and I walked to The Morrow with our luggage at around 10pm.
The next day, we came back to the Marriott and were checked in immediately. However, our key cards weren’t working properly, both in our room and the club lounge, and we had to request to have them changed multiple times.
We also requested for housekeeping and specifically, a change in sheets as the comforter we had had feathers flying all around, but our room was not serviced nor our sheets changed despite repeated requests. Our TV also stopped working on our last night and we had to move to a different room.
Shockingly, after the entire overbooking kerfuffle, I found another charge on my credit card for the same five nights that I had originally prepaid two months before, in February. I raised this with the front desk several times and had to repeat the same concern to different receptionists as there was no proper record of my original request. On our last day, it was finally explained to us that this was a pre-authorization and that it would immediately be cancelled. (This was quite confusing though as our entire stay was booked through booking.com and prepaid directly to the hotel in February, several months before our stay.)
Sadly, I don’t think we’ll be returning to this hotel unless they drastically improve their services. Front desk service should certainly be improved but a lot of the other staff we encountered (at the restaurant, the club lounge, housekeeping) were very kind and helpful so we hope that with proper training, they could do better.

Marriott
I wish I had read the reviews prior to booking. This has been my absolutely WORST Marriott experience in 20 years with Marriott and as a current titanium elite, I’ve obviously stayed at quite a few hotels.
I arrived at 2pm on the day of my check in. I had requested an early check in via the app however upon arrival I was told that the hotel was sold out the night before and my suite wasn’t ready yet. The two young ladies working the front desk (Tiffany and Bintu), were incredibly kind and reached out to the house keeping director to see if they could get my room cleaning expedited.
An hour later I called the front desk to see if the room was ready (now 3pm) and still, it wasn’t. At 3:45 I approached the desk and a manager named Kate was there. She informed me that the room that was “blocked” for me had a titanium elite member in it who would not be CJ rocking out until 4pm. Obviously at this point, now almost 2 hours waiting around, I am incredibly annoyed.
She said “like you, he is a titanium so he gets this benefit.” I said I wasn’t worried about his benefit or mine for that matter, but that I was told my room was being cleaned 2 hours ago and now I’m being told there’s a guest in it who would not be checking out until 4pm. She initially offered no apology, no concession, and simply suggested I continue to wait indefinitely. When I asked if another suite was available initially she said no they were all filled, then she said she “found another one” and would get me in. Bintu demonstrated far greater customer service and conflict resolution skills than Kate. Perhaps she should be considered for a managerial position.
Once I got into the room I was again annoyed. The TVs were not working and the handheld phone was not working. Then I also discovered the hotel literally sits next door to the train tracks.
On Saturday morning I attempted to depart the hotel at 3:30am. I approached valet to retrieve my car and was told that someone had ran into the garage door and they could not get my car out of the garage. I had a contracted speaking engagement in Baltimore and could not wait. I was told by the Marriott desk manager to book an UBER for my trip to and from Baltimore. He said he left a note in their system.
Upon returning I provided an email copy of the initial Uber receipt and the return receipt directly from the driver. Kate first deflected and told me that I would need to speak to the valet manager because They would be responsible for reimbursement. I insisted that my relationship with the valet was solely as a consequence of Marriott’s contract with them and that they needed to work with them to provide my refund. The authenticity of my return receipt was then challenged and presently am left wondering about my almost $400 refund.
This hotel is a NIGHTMARE. I will never stay here again. The lack of customer service and ineffective managerial response to problems makes it clear…this hotel is interested in your credit card, not the quality of your stay.

I arrived at this hotel for business after returning from Paris. Early in the morning, I left for my meetings and, upon returning to rest later in the day, I was shocked to find my room in complete disarray. I immediately called the front desk, and they assured me that a housekeeper would be sent right away.
Hoping for a quick resolution, I went to the lobby to wait. However, even after three hours, I returned to my room only to find it still in a state of disarray. Annoyed and frustrated, I contacted the manager again, who promised to send a housekeeper. Now, it's almost 5 pm, and my room remains untidy with no housekeeper in sight.
The manager I spoke with during my last call was extremely rude, claiming there was little they could do and that they would attempt to send a housekeeper. This entire experience has been incredibly unpleasant. As a guest, I expect to find my room organized and comfortable, not spending the entire day trying to get it fixed.
To make matters worse, the restaurant has been a disappointment as well. The breakfast was of poor quality, and the only server took forever to show up and take orders. I cannot recommend this hotel. As a loyal customer of Marriott, I am disappointed that this particular hotel does not uphold the standards I associate with the Marriott brand.

Beautiful, new, modern hotel. Exceptional service. The location is right near a metro stop that will take you into the heart of DC (or a good walk - about a mile). The only criticism would be that the hotel isn't in the prettiest area. Our room overlooked a train yard and trains could be loud in the morning. If you go, ask for a room facing away from the trains.

As near perfect as a hotel can be… The decor and “class” strike you immediately to set the tone, then as you enter the friendliness of the staff and aroma and clean feeling hit you next. “May” at the front desk is possible one of the most kind and helpful folks I have had the pleasure to be greeted by. The rooms are well appointed, clean and very “new feeling “. The only place I would say there can be some improvement would be the restaurant. Food selection is somewhat limited and a little too eclectic for the simple taste. The M lounge is worth it and the breakfast was very nice with eggs and fruit and oatmeal. It’s also available during the day with soft drinks and waters. One hint (that May helped me with) was King beds are closest the tracks at Union Station, so pick a room with two queens if quite is your choice. There’s a definite warm and welcoming vibe here and I look forward to coming back often.

I stayed for two nights for a work conference, hosted at this hotel. Two disasters - 1/ event space & catering at the hotel and 2/ flowers delivered to the hotel went missing. We had a private room happy hour event and the coordinator for this event was awful and unresponsive. It took multiple times for us to reach him the day before the event to make changes to the event. I also ordered flowers delivered (and confirmed delivery with photo to the hotel front desk) for a guest staying at the hotel. They never made it to the guest. Although the front desk people were kind and tried to help, I have talked 3x in person with front desk and made 7 calls and still have not been issued a refund for the missing flowers. The hotel staff should have been empowered by their management to issue credit asap and not make a guest go through this. I will never stay here again and will not recommend it personally or professionally.

The staff is very attentive, and the gym is one of the best I have ever seen. It even has a dedicated cross fit section outdoors!
The menu was very good from Breakfast to dinner, and they had this plant-based prosciutto, called Mia's which is to die for.
But what really impressed me was there recycling efforts. They do not offer bottled water which often ends up in landfills. Instead, every floor has a dedicated water purification fountain, and each room comes with a glass jar so you can fill it with filter water anytime. I wish every hotel replicated this. This one action will avoid so much plastic bottle waste that end up in landfills. Love it!
