First of all I had high hopes for this hotel & sadly had the worst experience ever. I had a dirty first room bed was filled with hair dandruff so they moved us to another room. 2nd room bed is full of hair, staff didn’t do anything to resolve the problem but say I’ll give you free breakfast I’m which they didn’t add us that? Then I asked for a refund since we did do a late check out (fee was $79) the manager told me on the phone that they should of waived that & done it for free but why didn’t they? He said the best he can do was refund me $71 like are you kidding me? After to rooms being dirty and I can’t even get a full refund for the late checkout? Is obnoxious. This hotel deserves a 0/5. Should have came to the reviews instead of just looking at the stars. Crazy how I’m not the first person this happens too and they still don’t do anything to resolve this continuous problem. Do better! …
5-star Experience, great breakfast choices. The rooms we are relaxing and calming. the elevator was major tricky part to operate that was not explained at checkout but overall amazing experience and will use this hotel chain if in those cities available again.
Affordable weekend getaway that is walking distance from most monuments and museums. No need to Uber or purchase trolley tours. Rooms were small, but very comfortable with an XL king bed. Breakfast was great and it did not break the bank. I would book again with CitizenM!
I’m pretty highly disappointed with this hotel. I’ll start with the good: the breakfast. It was good. Just okay but it was AYCE so that made up for it being just okay. The bad: no one told us the rooms and bathrooms were created for small people, and designed like an airplane pod. It was tiny. I booked an accessible room and this was not accessible. We called down to the front desk to ask why it wasn’t accessible, and our phone wasn’t working. They couldn’t hear me but I could hear them so they sent someone up. It turned out to be the manager, so I asked him for an accessible room like I had booked. He literally looked me up and down and asked what disability I have. That’s super illegal to even ask, let alone being a hotel manager and asking that. For the record, I’m disabled, hence why I ordered the accessible room. After that was settled, we got put in a room that was much larger and actually accessible. But to be honest I’m still very hung up on the manager asking what disability I have. For the record, no one can ask you that legally, especially in a professional space. I highly recommend that manager be spoken to and understand why him asking that was not okay. I will never stay at a CitizenM hotel again for that, and also for the small rooms that are literally pods. It’s not worth the money AT ALL. …
The bed had hair all over it upon arrival. When we got back to the hotel at night the iPad wasnt working so we could not turn the tv or operate anything in the room. The staff was rude and when I spoke up for myself we were asked to leave in the middle of the night. It was a scary and terrible experience.
Nice stay at this hotel. Perfect for 1 person or a couple. Very close to the National Mall, the Enfant metro station (a few mins) away. The hotel is on a quiet street. I have stayed at 2 other CitizenMs and the experience is the same as the other ones. Great lobbies, helpful staff, good coffees, and rooms were all identical. Everything in the room is controlled by an iPad that is provided or a few light switches. The rooftop bar/patio is nice and has a nice view of the Capitol. Check in should be assisted by staff each time rather than be invited to use a terminal to check in. When you are arriving to check in, most people just want to go to their rooms, and it is not that fun to be check in in yourself - even if there is a staff member around. This is my third visit to a CitizenM and the 2nd time this has occurred. Room needs a real fridge, not just a cabinet that keeps a certain temperature.…
Booked a spontaneous trip to DC to check out museums and historical places. Nice location. Walking distance of all things. 20 minutes at minimum. Was not a fan of bar food. Very limited menu. Cute bar area for drinks. Very nice chic room. Nice views.
Down fall to modern is small! Smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. Bathroom lacks separation from main room. Both room not private enough for two people. Would recommend for one person staying in room. Hotel was clean.
Our original accommodations didn't work out and we booked this hotel at the last minute. We really lucked out! Yes, the rooms are small but so well designed and very comfortable for 2 (my 10 year old daughter and I). We loved the large window with double shades, enormous king bed, and easy-to-use tech that let us control everything from lighting to temperature. Every employee, without exception, was so lovely, generous and sweet to my daughter in particular. The gentlemen at the bar even graciously offered her ice when she complained of a sore ankle after a day of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet was varied and very reasonably priced for the quality and convenience -- and the coffee was excellent. The only downside for me (as mentioned in other reviews) was that the location is a bit of a food desert -- might be worth checking out the NoMa location if that is important to you. Many thanks to the wonderful staff for saving our DC vacation!…
Excellent location, very helpful staff and good standards throughout made my stay a pleasure. The rooftop bar was particularly pleasant. The only downside was an issue with subtitles on the tv that no one could get rid of.
