The experience at check-in was completely deplorable. I am in town for an event for my sorority and the host hotel and surrounding hotels are fully booked because of this event. My sorority sister and I did mobile check in when we received the email at 2 AM. We let them know that we would be arriving around 12 PM. Once we arrived for check-in, the front desk staff were completely rude and dismissive as if we weren’t supposed to be guest at the hotel. My sorority sister received an email that her room was ready and her card was charged, the front desk member cut her off in the middle of her trying to explain that we had checked in on the app and said “there is no such thing.” After we showed him proof that her room was ready he gave her her keys after being condescending toward her. He told me I could put my stuff in her room until my room is ready but for other guests, they were taking their luggage’s upstairs for them or holding them in the holding room. That is inexcusable because why should I as a paying guest have to lug my luggage’s around because my room isn’t ready? He proceeded to let me know that my room would be ready in an hour. We left to run errands and came back about 2 hours later and the room still was not ready although other guests were being checked in and let into their rooms. At this point I am furious. I checked in well before my flight left Dallas at 6 AM and now it is 3 PM and I still didn’t have a room available. The manager of valet saw that we had been waiting for hours and told me to leave a review because it was ridiculous that I had been waiting this long. He was the only helpful/thoughtful person in this situation and listened to us voice our concerns. Day 2 into my stay and I have been waiting for towels since I requested more last night. This stay so far has been very trying and frustrating and we still have 3 nights to go. I don’t have any hope for the stay to get better. If you are black, do not stay here take your money elsewhere unless you feel like having to tell people how to do their jobs or how to treat you as a hotel guest. I’m sure this won’t be my last review on the stay either.…
We had several rooms as part of a block for family members traveling to DC for our daughter's wedding. The staff were incredibly accommodating and friendly to everyone. Rooms were in excellent shape, clean, and comfortable. The location is amazing in the heart of the Navy Yard district and we appreciate all that the hotel did for us during our stay!
The Thompson DC is an excellent hotel with a great location in DC. It is very centrally located and walkable. There's easy access to the water, metro, and a ton of great restaurants. One of the coolest things about the hotel is the rooftop bar. Definitely worth checking out.
The hotel is top-notch in every way. Beautiful, well appointed, and well thought out rooms. Beautiful public spaces from the comfortable and inviting bar area in the lobby, to the rooftop bar, and the great food at their restaurant. You can tell the employees love their hotel and want the guests to feel welcome in their home.
Rooms are clean. Beds were nice. BUT...shower dripped, food was scarce, clock didn't have a cord (wanted to plug my music in), downstairs food options closed WAY early for a town like DC, and the neighborhood is dead. If you're going to a game, might be a good stay. Off season? Not remotely worth the coin.
Wow...this is now my favorite city hotel ever...they clearly spent a lot of effort in getting everything just right. I feel like I got a bargain compared to the big premium hotels downtown. - Vibrant new neighborhood...lots of restaurants and a metro station within 3 blocks - Overall room proportions were typical but felt much bigger and far more stylish than the norm, lots of rounded corners, molding everywhere, a variety of stylish colors/textures - unlike other city hotels, this one one very quiet at night, I even slept with the window open. - Bed was great, slept very well. I particularly like that they have a tuck-able duvet and were able to supply firmer pillow - Work was easy with the little sturdy wall desk, had a terrific chair and next t the window - Bathroom is handsome, big shower with strong pressure and get get dangerously hot if you want, euro style wall toilet - TV has chromecast built in so I streamed netflix easily from my ipad once I scanned the QR code, they also have a Tivoli radio for retro charm...enjoyed listening to classical on public radio for years - There is no closet. but the wardrobe was plenty big and stylish...all the drawers have soft-close. Bedside tables are multi-level and have 4 outlets on each side. - Flooring is fake wood. quite convincing. Love that they added a carpet around the bed - Excellent lighting...this is an area where most hotel fall short, not here - Elevators are neat...type in the floor and it tells you which elevator is coming, then you get in and confirms your destination on a screen inside. I never had to share with anyone else but that might be because they weren't very full - Restaurant downstairs was full service, great staff. Cost $23 for a big breakfast - Rooftop bar looked cool, didn't try it.…
Everything was wonderful. It was a wedding weekend at a close by venue and Thompson took care of any requests we had. Many of the wedding guests stayed at the hotel and were very pleased. We felt safe and loved the beauty of the area. Made for a perfect stay!
It's a great place to stay with a different feel than closer to the White HOuse. Lots of cool restaurants, little shops, people out walking dogs. The staff was attentive and very friendly. Room was modern and nice. Overall, a win!
We were in town for a concert as well as celebrating a special anniversary and our experience at the Thompson was above and beyond what we expected. Check in was a breeze, the staff were helpful, friendly, and clearly concerned with ensuring our experience was enjoyable and memorable. The room was gorgeous (thanks for the free upgrade!) not to mention everywhere and everything in the hotel smelled exceptional. I am typically sensitive to scent and can be easily bothered by it but I found myself still sniffing things that were kept in the room a week after returning home. Wonderful experience, can't wait to come back! The only feedback I'd give is: I was a bit disappointed in the lack of vegan options for breakfast. Other than that 10/10!!!
I had a great time stay at the Thompson Washington DC. The staff was amazing and the hotel was so clean and welcoming. The food was amazing and the staff took great care of me during my stay. I would definitely stay again
