I had the pleasure of spending a delightful weekend at the Conrad in Washington, D.C., and I must say that my overall experience was truly wonderful. From the moment I arrived, it was evident that the Conrad staff goes above and beyond to make every guest's stay memorable. The warm and friendly welcome I received at the front desk set the tone for the entire visit.

As a Diamond member, I had requested a room upgrade, but unfortunately, due to a wedding event and a sold-out situation, they were unable to accommodate my request. However, I was pleasantly surprised when they went the extra mile to make my stay special. A bottle of Champagne, along with some delectable madeleines and truffle chocolates, was sent to my room, showcasing their commitment to making guests feel truly welcomed and respected.

But what truly warmed my heart was the thoughtful and heartwarming gesture of a beautiful Panda Bear they gave for my 7-year-old daughter. She absolutely adored it, and it added an extra layer of joy to our stay.

Throughout my stay, the staff consistently exhibited a high level of friendliness and hospitality. The room itself was impeccable – clean, comfortable, and beautifully decorated in a modern style. The interior design was honeycomb-like, featuring beautiful colors and geometric shapes, and it reflected an attention to detail that was evident throughout the property. The inclusion of robes and slippers added a luxurious touch that made me feel right at home.

There were several highlights to my stay at the Conrad. The hotel's location is excellent, providing easy access to many of Washington, D.C.'s central attractions. The Estuary Restaurant, on-site, offered exceptional and elevated cuisine that was a true culinary delight, and the attention to detail in its design was remarkable. The stand-out star of my experience was Jennifer at the concierge table, whose knowledge and assistance added an extra layer of enjoyment to my visit.

However, no experience is without its room for improvement. While the inability to upgrade my stay due to the wedding event was understandable, it would have been even more enjoyable if this could have been accommodated, especially as a Diamond member. On a similar note, I had some pushback from the Front Desk and had to request things several times, which left me feeling that they were not as accommodating as I had hoped.

Additionally, I found the valet parking fee of $75 for overnight parking to be on the higher side. It would be more guest-friendly to have a more reasonable parking rate. Another aspect to consider is the lack of a pool on the premises, which may disappoint some guests who enjoy a swim during their stay. Finally, the hotel may not be very kid-friendly for families with young children, as it doesn't appear to cater to their specific needs.

Pros:

Warm and welcoming staff that goes the extra mile to make guests feel special.
Clean, comfortable, and modern room with robes and slippers.
Excellent central location in Washington, D.C.
Outstanding dining experience at the Estuary Restaurant, with remarkable attention to detail in design.
Beautiful honeycomb-like interior design with beautiful colors and geometric shapes.
Stand-out star Jennifer at the concierge table for exceptional service.
Thoughtful and heartwarming gesture of a beautiful Panda Bear for my 7-year-old daughter.

Cons:

Inability to upgrade the room, even as a Diamond member.
Some employees, including the Front Desk, provided pushback and required repeated requests, making them less accommodating.
High valet parking fee of $75 for overnight parking.
Lack of a pool on the premises.
May not be very kid-friendly for families with young children.

We stayed at the Conrad between Christmas and New Years during a family sightseeing trip to the DC area. This was my first stay in a Conrad hotel and overall, we were very happy with our hotel choice. The location is accessible to most museums and attractions in the city. We mostly used Uber during our stay but we did walk back from the Washington Memorial area one day and it was about a 20 minute walk that we enjoyed as the weather was nice. What stood out most about the hotel was the excellent service we received from everyone we encountered. From the front desk and restaurant staff, to housekeeping, valet and concierge staff, the service we received was welcoming, pleasant and consistent. I felt it was on par with what we have come to expect from hotels like the Ritz Carlton and Four Seasons. We had a minor issue with our room during our stay and it was resolved very quickly and with a great deal of care and attention.

We booked our stay through the American Express Fine Hotels & Resorts program which included a hotel credit, daily breakfast for 2 and premium wi-fi (which is faster than the hotel's standard wi-fi). I thought this was worth it for the convenience alone of not having to leave the hotel for breakfast. We had the option of having breakfast at the restaurant or using the credits for room service however we opted to dine in the restaurant since we were visiting museums and headed out each morning anyway. The FHR program also includes early check in when available, and a room upgrade where available, however we arrived a couple of hours early and were unable to secure a room until about a half hour before the regular check in time. Additionally, the only room upgrades available are for king bed rooms, so unless you are a party of 1 or 2, a room upgrade is unlikely. While this was disappointing, it wasn't something we were expecting and we also understood that we were staying over the holiday break so the hotel was busy. Overall, it had little impact on our trip.

The one area in which I think the hotel can improve is with their breakfast offerings. I don't eat much meat but especially limit beef and pork. However the breakfast buffet (which seems to be a weekend only offering and is a very good value as it includes coffee and juices) did not offer alternate meat options such as chicken sausage or turkey bacon. When I asked the staff about this the first day I was told that there was smoked salmon, however this wasn't quite what I was looking for and I was also a bit hesitant to eat smoked salmon at a buffet where it has been sitting out. The staff was accommodating and brought me some chicken sausage at no additional charge. However, because I didn't want to go through this ordeal every day, I opted against the buffet and just ordered pancakes and eggs from the regular menu for the remainder of our stay. However, as more and more people move away from beef and pork consumption, I think the hotel should consider offering non-beef/pork options as part of their buffet.

Overall, we had a great stay at the Conrad during our visit to DC. I would recommend the hotel to others and would certainly return when I'm back in the DC area.

High-gloss, modern luxury hotel that is all marble finishes and yawning spaces. There's a contemporary freshness in how the property is styled, so if you prefer a clean, minimalist look, you'll be very happy here.

Rooms and bathrooms are spacious, with very comfortable bedding, ample amenities of bathrobes, and soaps, and lots of power points, including USB ports.

The gym is an enormous space of floor to ceiling windows, offering cardio machine varieties, as well as free weights, kettlebells, and machinery.

The room service dining offerings are outstanding, and among the best I've ever had. Strongly recommend the roast chicken rigatoni.

However, once the Covid19 lockdown commenced, hotel services were reduced; gym and all public spaces were closed, and on premise dining came to an end. The staff however went above and beyond - they were consistently proactive in informing me about what was happening with the property's plans to stay open, and kept me well furnished with latex gloves, bottled water, and even brought me gym equipment to use in my room.

Thank you in particular to Vera, Christina, Jez, and Carlos. Not just great staff and pre-emptive servicepeople, but genuinely kind individuals.

Conrad in Washington DC is a brand new Hilton facility opened in April, 2019. It is located on the old Convention Center site between 9th and 10th and is easy walking distance to the White House, National Mall with all its museums, Capitol One Center if you want to get in a NBA or NHL game. It is adjacent to the City Center shopping and a short seven block hop to Union Station if you come by train. The neighborhood is filled with eateries and bars and appear clean and safe even well into the evening.

The hotel front desk is located on the 3rd floor and requires a separate elevator ride as there is no elevator to the guest rooms from the entry level. Everyone has to take a short ride to the third floor, turn the corner and take a second bank of elevators to his/her room. It is a small pain to do that every trip but at least the wait is generally very short. Second floor is the convention - ballroom facility linked to the third floor by a grand staircase. Aside from the front desk, the third floor also houses the restaurant ( Estuary,) a small board room, a terrace and the hotel gym. There is no pool.

This is not a very large hotel. Half of the facility contains an oval atrium overlooking the third floor lobby. I believe it has 9 stories.

The staff at the reception desk is friendly and extremely helpful as is the staff manning the restaurant and at the front entrance to the hotel.

The standard King room is quite roomy at 400 square feet and has floor to ceiling windows. There is a good size work desk and a L-shaped couch. Floor is carpeted.

There are two separate side by side closets with ample supply of high quality hangers along with the usual Conrad amenities including two soft robes, slippers and the shoe horn as well as an umbrella. Ironing board and iron are present as is a safe.

The bathroom has a large walk in glass shower one side and a glass enclosed toilet on the other separated by an oversize double vanity. Door to the bathroom is sliding variety.

The King bed was very comfortable as are the pillows and comforter.

Temperature control was easy and responsive.

House keeping has small flaws. They failed to replace shampoo and bath gel the first day but I chalked that up as being a weekend and perhaps manned by a back up crew. Turndown service was spotty. There were days they never came but I didn't find that necessary anyway.

Dinner at the Estuary was expensive but excellent. Don't try breakfast or brunch as they are expensive and not particularly outstanding. They are so many better and cheaper places to have breakfast or lunch within walking distance.

Overall a great hotel to stay visiting the Capitol.

I generally don't go out of my way to stay in a particular hotel when a city for business. Location is more important to me. This month I had meetings very close to the Conrad and stayed there for three nights. Although a high end Hilton, the hotel came as a nice surprise. I had expected something similar to one of its competitor's flagship DC hotel near the Willard--a large, efficient convention hotel. The Conrad was a step up. The architecture while modern, was very pleasing. Light, open and airy. The staff were superb; comparable with that of the top luxury brands. The room was large; a very large amount of closet and storage space. The bathroom was large, two sinks with adequate counter top space stocked with all the usual amenities; large shower and separated toilet. And, the room had very amply UBS ports and plugs. Public areas were striking; cocktail lounge had spacious sitting areas resembling a large living room with fireplace. I only had one meal; a breakfast fruit plate. It was fine. When considering hotels in this city you will want to consider its location which may or may not work for you. But I think it is the very best hotel in this part of DC.

Originally my wife and I had wanted to travel to Amsterdam in July and celebrate our Anniversary with a stay at the Waldorf Astoria. For obvious reasons that did not happen. We were determined to try and do something special and settled on a trip to Washington DC and a stay at the Conrad.

I received a confirmation email from, Vera, the front office manager explaining what was going on at the Conrad DC and what kind of safety measures they would have in place during our stay. I responded and let her know we would be coming there to celebrate an Anniversary that we had been hoping to go to Amsterdam for. We corresponded and she graciously upgraded us to a suite. That would have been more than generous by itself.

When we arrived and went up to our room. (All the staff is wearing masks and they're are sanitizers everywhere you could think of) On the dining table in the Suite were pictures of the Waldorf in Amsterdam as if we were being welcomed there for our Anniversary. - Please see the pictures below. She also had a couple bottles of Heineken and some Dutch Caramel Wafers waiting for us and a handwritten note welcoming us and recognizing our Anniversary.

The next day they also treated us to a half bottle of wine on the outdoor terrace. Vera, Stephanie, Raylee and Rebecca were all amazing and made us feel special and welcomed in the midst of all that is going on in Washington and a global pandemic. No request was too big and nothing too small. I can't say enough about the staff. The thought they put into our stay and the attention to detail in incomparable.

The room was incredible too, it was the perfect space to relax, watch the rain, drink a Heineken, take long baths and sit in the chair opposite the fireplace. The curtains and sheers as well as all the lighting could be controlled from the wall which made everything so easy. It was a wonderful 4 nights and we were sad to leave.

If you are thinking about traveling to DC and have any concerns about safety or anything else please reach out to the staff they would be more than happy to assist you. The Conrad is a gem if you can get out and take advantage of it!

I stayed at this hotel through the AMEX Fine Hotels & Resorts program. Overall, this is a great hotel, but it could work out some kinks to provide a better stay next time.

My Digital Key did not work. The app said that I could not register a digital key because my credit card on file needed to be updated, but it was the same valid credit card I used for my booking and to pay for the room, and my digital key never worked.

The AMEX FHR program offers a room upgrade if available. Although upgraded rooms were available in the hotel app for purchase, but I did not get a room upgrade at check-in. My TV remote was not working when I checked in, but the service team changed the batteries and fixed the issue while I was at dinner. I returned from meetings the next day, and the room had not been serviced, and I had to specifically request that my room be serviced. I also asked for extra water bottles, because I ran out on the first night, but I did not get additional bottles, and I finally had to go to an area convenience store to purchase more.

The room was clean, comfortable and quiet, but there were several of these small issues that lessened my stay. I also found that the internet service throughout the hotel was not very strong, and this became a problem because phone service was even worse.

I found the food and drink at the hotel restaurant and bar to be good, but not memorable, and definitely not worth the very high prices charged. Breakfast entrees and cocktails at the bar both were in the low $20s. Upon check-out, my folio was incorrect, and I was overcharged by over $190, which I had to request as a refund after checking out.

Stayed 4 nights for work, absolutely loved. Staffs are very polite and happy to help, housekeeping was absolutely amazing. I left a note asked for a comb, the housekeeper left me 3 different kinds of combs. My laptop cord was left on the plug untie, the housekeeper actually helped tie up the cord with Conrad's own cord ties was just cute and very professional. I was also surprised by the amount of bathroom amenities they had because providing packaged make up remover is definitely not a standard American hotel thing (although pretty common for high-end hotels in asia), but they got everything ready for you.

We had a fabulous 4 night rewards stay at the Conrad! The hotel is a beautiful property in a great location for shopping and to see the sites. As a Diamond, we were upgraded to a Corner King room with floor to ceiling windows on the 4th floor. Room was very clean with lots of closet space. The Nespresso machine was quite useful to have in the room for a afternoon caffeine lift. The complimentary water bottles were replenished regularly. Black out curtains were very easy to use with button on each side of the bed.

Hotel has modern architectural features and art on display. I appreciated the extra level of security by having check-in and guest room elevators on a higher floor.

We received $50 food credit for 2 people at breakfast. It can be enough if you go continental style. We usually paid about $10 more if one of us ordered an entrée. They are about $20+ each. Service is very good. They pour the coffee right away upon entry.

We tried room service for a late dinner one night and food was delicious and warm.

We walked to shopping and the White House with no issues. Area is very safe. Everything is a short Uber ride away. I also liked how you could text if you need anything. I asked housekeeping for a couple things via the app and they were in the room when I returned.

Highly recommend this stylish, well kept property and would definitely stay again!

I relished every moment at the Conrad. They thought of every detail to make your stay more comfortable, more convenient, and truly enjoyable. Some were practical: being able to turn off every light in the room with a button by your bed or by the door; being able to open or close the shades from your bed; a wake-up call with a snooze feature; weather forecast displayed on the TV. Others were more luxurious: turndown service; shoeshine service; robes and an espresso machine and other comforts. And some simply made things more comfortable, like being able to turn on the water in the shower without standing under it so you could avoid that blast of cold water. The beds and bedding were super-comfy, and the room had everything you could need or want. Best of all, the staff was wonderful. Literally every person was friendly, helpful, and genuine. I recommend you quit researching and simply make your reservation.
