Hotel Washington's enviable location is a hit among travelers, allowing easy access to DC's attractions and dining on foot. While the rooftop bar provides stunning views, it also contributes to the noise that some guests find bothersome. The rooms, noted for their unique decor and cleanliness, are criticized for their size and occasional uncleanliness.
Service at the hotel is typically friendly and professional, but some visitors have encountered unhelpful staff and delays. Despite these setbacks, the prime location remains a high point for guests.

Our stay at Hotel Washington during the busy Christmas season was nothing short of amazing. The hotel’s prime location, right next to historic monuments, made exploring the city effortless and enjoyable.
Despite arriving during an incredibly busy time, with a game adding to the holiday rush, the staff provided exceptional customer service. Although check-in was delayed due to high demand, the team went above and beyond by upgrading us to a luxurious suite and including a $65 credit for the on-site restaurant—a thoughtful touch that truly elevated our experience.
Special thanks to Larry, who took the time to personally tour us around the suite, pointing out all its cool features and ensuring we felt right at home. This extra care and attention to detail made us feel incredibly valued as guests.
The cleanliness of the hotel was impeccable, and the room felt like a sanctuary after long days of sightseeing. The bed? Absolutely divine—it was like sleeping on clouds and provided the most restful nights.
Hotel Washington exceeded every expectation, turning a busy holiday season into a memorable and relaxing experience. We can’t wait to return!

There are many hotels to choose from for seeing DC, and for us, The Washington was the complete package. From the Valet to the front desk, to the funky rooms, the Spa, and fitness area, the icing on the cake was Omar and the team at the breakfast area. We enjoyed our three nights there immensely and will absolutely return. Try it!

The Hotel Washington is in a prime location in downtown DC, across from the Treasury Building and a block from the White House. It's a beautifully restored historic hotel with a rooftop bar and a stylish and comfortable lobby. I was there over Christmas and the hotel was nicely decorated for the holiday. The housekeeping staff left a stocking filled with little candies and other goodies for me on the doorknob on Christmas morning, which was a delightful surprise. The room I was in had a good view onto 15th Street (I've also stayed in a smaller room at this same hotel with an airshaft view, so having a street view was appreciated). The hotel has its own restaurant and a bar in the lobby, as well as eateries on the rooftop. It is located near several good restaurants and casual dining places in the neighborhood. I like this hotel very much and would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends.

The valet and bellhop service was amazing. I think when you eat or have drinks they push for you to put it on your hotel bill because each time they charge a service fee. I suggest paying cash instead because those fees add up fast. The food is ok but better places are on the same street. The standard king room is VERY small with no real place to put clothing and if you are a woman, forget finding a place for makeup, hair products AND toothbrush/personal care items. If you are a couple, flip a coin to see who gets to hang up a few items and use the 2 tiny drawers provided. The loser will have to keep everything in their suitcase or put things on tables and chairs. But the rooms are clean and quiet. Coffee maker not so great. Sometimes it will break open the little coffee dispenser but other times it would just fall through and drop to the bottom. Just give me an old fashioned coffee pot that works. The location is great as long as there isn’t a movie being filmed..,then your whole block is cut off and no Uber or taxis while they film. You have to walk (it was closed off from 6:30 p.m until about 0630)..just hope it doesn’t rain. The rooftop bar was always packed and very loud in the evenings so don’t go if you want to relax. It’s more for partying. The staff up there was not as friendly as downstairs. The downstairs lounge area is more relaxing and quiet with more room and you can eat there as well or go to a neighboring hotel for good food.

It’s been the best experience ever! “You’ve got a surprise waiting for you!” And surprised we were! Stunned and amazed at the generosity of the hotel! It’s my second time to stay at Hotel Washington and I will definitely be coming back! The location is perfect; the view is mesmerising- you can sit and watch it for hours absorbing the architecture of the nearby buildings and the WWI memorial and a park. Truly they say that people make your experience unforgettable and so was our experience at Hotel Washington. Now about the room. When I reserved it, I was hoping to have a room with a view of the city. However, the website didn’t specify (that’s why it’s so important to call the hotel itself) and I reserved a standard room. When I requested and an upgrade to a deluxe one (with an outside view), I was pleasantly surprised with a suite!!! The room had the most gorgeous view! It was also sparkling clean and spacious, had a supply of water and coffee. A bathroom included a shower and a bath tub, also two robes and two pairs of slippers. Love it when hotels provide them. I want to express thank you to the staff of Hotel Washington for making our trip unforgettable!

We stayed at this hotel just a 5-minute walk from the White House or the Washington Monument and just over 10 minutes from The Mall for 3 nights. Its location is extraordinary to visit all the places of interest in the American capital. Maybe we were unlucky but we have marked it with a 3/5 since the reception staff as well as the bellboys did not have, in our opinion, an elegant treatment or, at least, what we expected from a hotel of this kind. this category (and with this price) The people at the front desk responded reluctantly to the questions we asked them and the bellboy stayed waiting at the door until we gave him a tip, which, furthermore, he did not like and for which He showed a slight discontent, thus causing a moment of tension that had not happened to us in any other hotel recently. The room was very spacious and provided two queen size beds that were very comfortable and nice with a selection of pillows. The bathroom had all the necessary amenities for personal hygiene and was decorated very elegantly. The room had a refrigerator which was also very helpful to have fresh water in the morning for the different visits. I don't rate the breakfast since we didn't request this service, but I can say that the hotel gym was very complete and I was able to enjoy a good workout with everything I needed. In short, a hotel with great facilities, an excellent location and a very good room but in which we were unlucky not to find the elegant treatment that we expected from the workers.

Our family is not the type to leave reviews (even poor) but we feel that it’s necessary to urge folks not to stay here. We stayed for one night a Weds, in Aug. We arrived after travel around 11:30pm with a 2 and 4 year old and it took almost an hour to check us in to a room. The front desk staff was careless and downright rude, we were told the system was down and after 30 minutes of waiting we tried to explain that we would take any vacant room even one with a single bed due to our toddlers waiting in the lobby after midnight and were told “I told you I’m trying to check you in”. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and have never had such a negative experience anywhere. We finally got a room and when we approached the door there were used room service glassware/dishes sitting in front of it. At checkout the following day we were about to drive away and realized the staff forgot to give us one of our pieces of luggage that they were holding. After our experience (without knowing the rating of this hotel) I would have guessed it’s a max 2 star hotel. I’ve called 3x and left messages trying to reach a manager on site and it’s been radio silence. Not sure what’s going on at this hotel but save yourself the trouble and book elsewhere.

Location: Hotel located in a historic building in a busy downtown district. Our party of 6, ages ranging 14 - 72, walked to monuments, national museums, and dining spots. Hotel is an easy walk from Metro Center Station; we took the Metro from Dulles Airport and back. Perhaps not the best neighborhood for dining, but still plenty of options. While having a drink in the rooftop bar, my sister and I amused ourselves watching security services doing whatever they do on the roof of the White House, as it is just behind the Treasury building, across the street. Room: We stayed in a double room, not large, but comfortable for 3. Our widow closely faced another building wall, but our room was quiet. Family stayed in a different room, same floor, with a view of the treasury building. Great view, brighter room, but a noisy from street traffic. Hotel decor is unique & humorous, tying into the between World Wars-era the hotel was established. Linens clean, beds very cozy. Bathroom sink was small, but shower was sizable, with great water pressure. The bathroom & room were very clean. Amenities: We did not use the spa or exercise facilities. We ate at the downstairs restaurant one dinner and one breakfast. My sister and I enjoyed a drink in the rooftop bar. Prices are moderate to expensive, food was delicious, fresh. We received, and easily redeemed, discount coupons for the downstairs restaurant. Although the downstairs restaurant was open for dinner, the dining room wasn’t open, so we were seated at a table near the downstairs bar across from the elevators. That felt a little odd, but the food and services were commendable. The lobby downstairs is large with many sections for seating. Lively in the evenings, especially around the large downstairs bar. I worked from my laptop in the lobby comfortably, while my family slept in. Old elevators charming, but slow. Service: The reservations department responded quickly to my emailed request that our family’s rooms be located on the same floor. Everyone working at the hotel (save the rooftop bartenders, who did a fine job but were a little robotic) interacted with us in a warm and responsive way. This includes the housekeeping staff, doorman and valet, front desk and the downstairs waitstaff and breakfast maitre d. All the staff were welcoming and professional - in the nicest way. The service really does make the experience. We enjoyed returning to our hotel room each evening.

Nazia does a beautiful job and took care of the room and myself with love and kindness! We stayed here for week and got to explore DC. We really enjoyed coming back to a gorgeous room that consistently had water, coffee and a freshly made bed. The atmosphere is amazing throughout the hotel as well.

Great boutique hotel! We needed a place to stay close to the White House because we had a morning tour schedule. Hotel Washington is about a 2 minute walk! If it wasn't for the trees, our room would have looked right at the White House! Please know that the rooms are very small, even by NYC standards. There is a tiny sink outside of the bathroom, and the actual bathroom is just big enough to hold the toilet and shower. The shower is a generous size and the back wall is fogged glass that looks into the bedroom. Not bad - just be aware. Also, the marble floor in the shower is slippery. The king bed was very comfortable and there are lots of USB outlets in the room, plus coffee, 2 bottles of water and a small fridge. The breakfast in the restaurant off the lobby was pricey, but incredible. There is a large comfortable lobby with a bar, and the rooftop bars and restaurant is very lively at night. Friendly doormen and front desk staff and a great location!

Our proximity to the White House provides us a great location and access to many of DC's historical sights. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you enjoyed your tour as well. We apologize about the room size, shower door, and marble floor. We do provide an option of different rooms and hope to better accommodate you on your next stay with us.

We stayed in a deluxe king, but it was one of the smallest rooms I ever slept in. The bed, while comfortable, was very low to the ground. Not sure what made it "deluxe" ,...I guess it had more shiny finishes. It had a frosted glass wall between the bedroom and the shower. So, you could kind of watch someone shower, and forget leaving the bathroom light on at night!
They limit the amount of time you can stay on the upper deck, but you could see it from there I think. While we were there you could stay for no more than 2 hours. Space is limited. There might be some rooms on the 10th floor that would give you a view.
There are more places to choose from in the Washington DC area.
