Hyatt House Washington DC / The Wharf garners praise for its professional staff and cleanliness, along with its variety of breakfast options and stunning views. However, the hotel's atmosphere, while lively, sometimes comes with noise complaints and room wear. While its prime location near dining and sightseeing is appreciated, some guests mention difficulties in navigation and the bustling environment. Room sizes are noted to be on the smaller side with occasional maintenance issues. Additionally, the value is questioned by some due to steep parking fees and room rates.

We arrived late in the evening and were greeting by a friendly face as soon as we checked in (I WISH I could remember her name), we got to our room and I was immediately impressed with the cleanliness as well as their detail to ensure that guests were safe during this pandemic in the public areas. Ibrahim at the desk was also super friendly and helpful to us when getting into and out of the garage.

The location is ideal to enjoy the Warf and the sites (what were open) are located close to the hotel. I cannot say enough about how much we enjoyed our visit and cannot wait to return!

The Hyatt House, Washington D.C. is normally my hotel of choice when visiting. The accommodations and customer service are exceptional. They also have a really nice breakfast which is complimentary. On a scale from 1-5, with 5 being the highest. I'll give it a 4.5. The only reason that I did not give it a 5 is because the shower pressure in my room did not work, but the staff corrected it immediately. All other stays were a 5 (hands down). You absolutely cannot go wrong with this hotel. Having said that, the location cannot be beat. What I love most about the location is that it is picturesque and safe. Make sure that you request a room that overlooks the Washington Channel which spills into the Potomac River. Also they have plenty of eateries and restaurants to choose from. The only drawback is that parking in the garage is expensive, so my recommendation would be to park your car in the garage, leave it there and use the public transportation which is easily accessible to visit any of the sites. I also believe that there is a complimentary shuttle, but check with the from desk of the Hyatt to confirm and see whether there are start and stop times. In the Spring, Summer and Fall it would be a beautiful walk for the young at heart. That's just my 2 cents. Enjoy! :-)

I stayed at the Hyatt for 6 nights - part business, part leisure. The location at the wharf is convenient for me for work and it's also more happening and lively than other parts of the city. Rooms are modern and well equipped with a small kitchenette, if needed, but there aren't many drawers for storage. There is a grocery store within a 10 minute walks and the closest subways are 10-15 minutes away. You can walk to the mall and to the monuments if you are up to it and I believe there is a city bus and the hotel has a shuttle to the metro and the mall. Breakfasts are hearty and pretty good and certainly a great value. Views for the rooftop pool are quite nice. There are lots of restaurants, some a bit touristy, but the food is good at several of them and the prices are reasonable given the location. And at least one stays open late on he weekends. I would say housekeeping is okay - we only had our room cleaned once during our stay and it was fine but there was no vacuuming. The hotel does seem to try and keep up with maintenance of the common areas and fixing broken things. Although the ice machine on our floor remained broken despite efforts to fix it and a piece of plastic molding remained on the floor in the hallway outside our door the entire week. I did enjoy my stay at the Hyatt overall, despite these minor flaws. But the front reception desk staff could use some improvement and certainly a few smiles once in a while.

13-17 Jan 2020 Guest. While this hotel is located in a great area, the other nuances are as follows. The room is tiny with an Ikea furniture decor no exaggeration. There is smoking in the rooms, which means non smokers smell the chain smokers cigarettes within their rooms. After I asked to relocate to a different floor e.g. highest floor, end room, I was given a middle floor room not quite on the end. Keep in mind this is their slow season and this hotel is not full. During the process of relocating my luggage to my new room the Housekeeping Manager came to my old room; entering without knocking because she had the list of rooms that indicated that I had checked out and proceeded to tell me that the Front Desk should have never checked me out before I transferred my luggage. Not sure how that information is important to a customer that is transferring rooms due to the hotels inability to mitigate guests that are smoking in their rooms. Being as she was present I asked why her staff had not emptied the two trash cans? No explanation, but instead she asked me how many days had I been in my old room. This is not an extended stay with minimal service so I'm not sure how that question was relevant to housekeeping not emptying the garbage. BTW I had only stayed one nite at this point. This was followed with a mumbled I'll speak to them but no explanation was provided. Again her focus was on the fact that the Front Desk had checked me out. At this point it is after 5pm. Housekeeping Staff are gone for the evening does it matter if I'm checked out? My old room can't be cleaned until the next morning. Since I made my own bed that morning, house keeping only changed out the towels with ones that should have been thrown away as they were kinda grey instead of white. In the new room I pulled back the covers, the white sheets are dirty "dirt smudge" and had a stain that was either blood or food that did not come out after being washed or the sheets were never changed. The nite House Man was nice enough to assist me in changing all of the linens. My thoughts are ...why are the two of us changing sheets in the middle of the night in a hotel that costs over $200 plus per nite? Why isn't someone checking the rooms during the day? The breakfast needs improvement. The eggs are powder or a liquid, bacon is fatty and limited selection. Food, service and accommodations do not support a three or four star rating. Supposedly the Canopy Hotel is the nicer of the two properties same management. I can't attest to this but if that is the case, you will get the same view and a better room.

Dear 967KBP, Thank you for your review. I am very sorry to hear that you had a disappointing experience and sincerely apologize for the areas we fell short of meeting your expectations. I regret that you detected an odor of cigarette smoke in your room. We are a smoke-free hotel and do our very best to obtain guest compliance but cannot control if inconsiderate guests decide to smoke in their rooms. All associates have been trained to respond to potential violations of the policy and there is a significant room recovery fee for guests who do not comply to cover the extensive cost of restoring guest rooms to a smoke-free condition. Please be assured I will be discussing your comments with our management team to work on immediate improvements. We take pride in providing the best accommodations and service so our lapses during your stay are being taken very seriously. Again, on behalf of the staff and management - I offer our apologies. Sincerely, Michael Anderson General Manager

The night stay is too much for the service and the room. Please if is necessary change the towels that are stained. Make sure that you please the customers. I am sure we will be happy to spend our money in a friendly environment, have options for breakfast. The location is nice. The washer machines needs to be cleaned, check the rooms make sure that the light fixtures, refrigerator, and other appliances work.

I recently spent 41 nights at the Hyatt House during the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, certain parts of the hotel were closed. Prior to my arrival I emailed the manager (John) and asked for a few items (kettle, yoga mat, etc,) to have in the room. John responded quickly and the requested items were already in the room when I arrived. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. They took the COVID-19 guidelines seriously which put me at ease. The staff at the reception area always greeted me and let me know when packages arrived. The housekeeping staff (Michelle and Jose) were helpful and approachable. They fulfilled any request I had. I was there for work and did complain about about a loud party in the room next to me on a Friday night. The staff were very receptive this this complaint and did put a stop too the noise.

The bed was comfortable and it was really nice to be able to cook using the stove top. Agree with others that the water pressure in the shower could be better but it was still hot and this wasn't a deal breaker.

Would recommend this location individuals who need to stay for a few weeks.

If you are staying here for the sights, be weary. It's a bit of a walk to the monuments and museums from the hotel and they do not offer a shuttle. Also, make sure your room doesn't have a ventilation shaft going through the middle of it. Room 531 had a huge pillar going through the middle of the room.

The towels had some questionable stains and they did not supply wash cloths until we finally put in a request for them.

Bring your own trash bags as the room only had a single tine trash can in the bathroom.

Breakfast is decent if you get there at the right time.

This hotel would be very cool if they fixed these few things.

Staff was rude. I was charged for valet parking even after I was promised during my checkout it would be removed from my bill because we did not park at hotel. I tried calling hotel after leaving because the $55 was still being charged to my bill for valet parking and no one answered phone after trying for several hours and the phone just ringing I had to call Hyatt 1800 guests services number to get them to email the manager of Hyatt house to remove my charge for $55 for parking I never used. Housekeeping knocked at door at 10 when we were still there because checkout was at 12 and we were still using room and had not checked out. Why does house keeping come at 10 when we we’re clearly still in the room!! Very unhappy and will find another hotel close to anthem next time we are at a concert there.

Location cannot be beat if you're looking for directly on the Wharf. Parking is available directly under the hotel for $45/day & is clean, secure, and up to 8' 2" height of vehicle. No need to pay valet parking, as it's super easy to self park & the elevator is right there to go directly to the lobby. This hotel (and the Canopy and Intercontinental) charges a premium cost compared to other DC hotels, but it's located directly on the waterfront at the Wharf and right in the middle of it. The location and ease of parking made it worth the extra cost. Free breakfast was decent and all the interactions with Staff were excellent. The room was clean and surprisingly quiet, considering the location in the middle of all the activity

I am only giving this place 2 stars because of the location literally everything else was pretty horrible for the price per night. We stayed for 5 nights they never once cleaned the room I had to ask for toilet paper 3 times because they never brought it the first time then they bring me paper towels. Also when we booked the room we picked the one with the "sofabed" it was neither a sofa or a bed my 16yr old son had to sleep on the floor. I seriously do not understand how they are charging 300 a night for this crap hotel I've stayed in better rooms in Manhattan for way less. I would recommend looking elsewhere extremely disappointed for so many reasons I can't even list them all.

There is a metro bus a couple blocks away. You pay when you get on the bus. We also used Uber/Lyft but be careful about choosing pick-up location. Bit tricky. The water taxi to Georgetown is right on the wharf. Have a nice trip.
