The Courtyard Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol hotel garners praise for its prime location, with many guests appreciating the convenience to dining and transit options. While opinions on value vary, with some feeling overcharged, others find the pricing fair for the amenities provided. The hotel's service is often lauded as friendly and efficient, although a few note inconsistencies. Rooms are typically celebrated for their spaciousness and cleanliness, but noise and occasional maintenance issues are drawbacks for some. The cleanliness and modern amenities, such as the Bistro bar, consistently receive positive remarks, despite mixed reviews about the lobby's loud music atmosphere.

The hotel has a great location, and the service is very good.
As we were during the summer (temperatures above 35oC) on the return of a day of trips there was almost always a kind of scratch (ice with cover / dye) to refresh as well as cookies for the guests.
The room was quiet and met well to expectations. The sofa bed was a bit hard, and could have a mattress a bit softer.
The negative point started during check-in. According to the hotel's policy, on Booking booking, "a deposit of USD 100 is required upon arrival. The amount must be paid by credit card You will receive the refund at check-out." At check-in, a deposit of $250.00 was required, but as we were tired after 18 hours of travel, we agreed. After the check-out, we were waiting for the return, and nothing happened. 10 days after check-out, I contacted the hotel, which informed that, as the reservation was made by booking, it was for booking to request the refund. After contacting the booking, in 48 hours, I received the refund of the charge.

This hotel is great for a long weekend in DC. Located less than a block from the NOMA/Galludet train stop for the red line, you can go back and forth to downtown attractions with ease. The hotel is new and well kept, and despite its proximity to the train station felt safe - there are doormen keeping an eye on the entrance. The rooms are spacious and well cleaned. It is close to a lot of train traffic, and that might be a problem if you're a light sleeper but it didn't bother us. Being in the very up and coming NoMA area, there were tons of great restaurants within walking distance, making the location even better.

The bed was fabulous! I have a sleep number bed at home and was nervous I wouldnt get a good night sleep on a flat mattress, but the bed was fabulous! Bedding was clean and comfortable. Room was clean..bathroom especially. I was thrilled. Nice to see large mounted bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body wash instead of those crappy little bottles. Loved the central AC instead of a window unit! TV worked great! Fridge, coffeemaker and microwave worked great! We were in room 808. Our stay was very comfortable...I am very particular about coming "home" from a long day sightseeing to a clean comfortable room. Oh..rhe front desk rep was fabulous when we checked in...cant remember her name, but we were there Fri around noon. She was patient, polite and knew her stuff.
Subway (subs) and deli across the street, 7Eleven next door and the Metro stopp 500 feet from the hotel. Even the valet gentlemen were polite and made us feel welcome. .Housekeeping was very accomodating...she even organized our toothbrushes, comb, brush on top of a washcloth for us while we were out...very thoughtful! I was very impressed with this Courtyard hotel and will stay again when we come to DC. Thank you for making our stay great!

I stayed at the Courtyard Marriott hotel last week and had a wonderful experience particularly with the staff. The hotel is located literally outside the NoMa Metro station which is one stop from the Union Station (central station where Amtrack trains come from New York and other locations). It is thus well connected to all the places of interest. The staff were very helpful and I would like to give a shout out to Adam El Bakkali at the reception who checked me in and offered to change my room as I wanted to avoid the street side which is usually noisy and I have read previous reviews about 5is inconvenience. Because of this help I had a peaceful stay. Further, I had a meal at the in-house restaurant and not only the food was good the lady serving me Dynasia (bartender) was having a pleasant personality and kept checking with me on how the food was and if I need anything else. She always had a smile on her face while dealing with other customers and was very efficient as I could observe while having my food and drink at the bar. Thank you Dynasia and Adam for making my stay at your hotel memorable.

I booked this hotel for my family's spring break trip because of its proximity to public transportation and because I had Marriott points to use. However, I had no idea it was THAT close to the train, which was a huge plus for me! We found it incredibly satisfying to walk out of the train station and basically ride right up the elevator to our room after a long day of sight-seeing and walking. Most of the other hotels I had been looking at would have added another 10-15 minutes of walking to and from the train or bus onto our day so the immediate gratification of landing right at the hotel door was an unexpected blessing. This convenience also meant we didn't have to spend any money to rent or park a car and didn't have to waste time driving around looking for parking near all the sights. Besides the convenient location relative to public transit, I found the accommodations to be clean, comfortable and updated. My only complaint is that we had a room in the back corner of the hotel, located directly above the train platform, and there was a fair amount of noise from 6 AM through midnight every day. My family was EXHAUSTED from our long and busy days so we were able to sleep through it with no problem, but if you are a light sleeper, I'd suggest asking for a room on the opposite side of the building or at least not at the end of the hotel that's closest to the train platform. But, again, it was not a problem for us and we would stay here again anytime.

Beware of this hotel!!! Reservations are simply cancelled unilaterally by the hotel shortly before arrival without informing guests. As a pretext, we were called an alleged overbooking of the rooms. It's just a pity we weren't the only guests on the day whose booking was simply cancelled. On site, during the time we were there (about 1 hour), 4 more guests were turned away on the same grounds. So it seems to be a ploy of the hotel to resell rooms for a higher price and simply cancel the “cheap” bookings. Unfortunately, neither the Marriott Guest Relation nor the organizer (in our case stayforlong) gives you any support and no one gets back to you for days. Thus, you have to look for a hotel yourself at short notice during the valuable holiday period and bear the additional costs for the time being. We've been waiting for Marriott feedback for 4 weeks now. It's a shame, because so far we've only had good experience with this hotel group. No one has yet reimbursed us for the additional costs incurred (for booking another hotel on the same day at short notice), even though the hotel Courtyard Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol allegedly paid a $1,000 penalty fee to the organizer for the cancellation. We cannot say what is true here, as our organizer has not yet commented on the case. Even the payment of the prepaid amount for the booking, we had to proactively claim from the Stayforlong hotline after the trip. Except for a negative review via a rating platform on the Internet, no one from Stayforlong had responded to our messages and emails. It was only 3 weeks after the first email that we were written that you needed the booking references and security code to process the case.

The staff at this hotel are very friendly and courteous. They are truly the best aspect of this hotel. The location, next to the metro station, is convenient for getting around.

Beyond that, I found this hotel lacking in many areas. First, cleanliness. My room had gross stains all over the carpet, mold in the shower, and some unknown substance on the bathroom floor. It smelled strongly of cleaning products. The towels are old, hard, and small.

The room was extremely dated. There are no USB charging ports, so you need to bring multiple charging bricks. The desk still has Ethernet ports, which shows how long it’s been since the room has been updated.

For the price, this is a poor value. It feels very much like the hotel is taking advantage of the government workers who have to stay nearby. When your hotel has a captive guest roster who have few/no other choices nearby, there seems to be no reason to improve the rooms. It’s hardly better than a Motel 6.

Conveniently located near the NoMa metro stop and nearby food hall at Union Market. All the staff were very friendly, but we did notice that security (1st floor) was ALWAYS in their phone, and casually chatting with others, which gave the appearance he wasn’t paying attention at times.

Bistro/Breakfast: very good. It seems like many of the ingredients are the same, just presented differently (ie) a burrito, sandwich or bowl. The seating area is spacious and comfortable with lots of charging stations. Drinks: a double bourbon was $26. Asked for a double with diet…the bartender opened a FLAT 16oz bottle of Diet Pepsi. It was really not good, but didn’t want to complain. There is a 7/11 next door if you want your own things.

Lobby: located on the 2nd floor. All were attentive and friendly. There was a fruit infused water container which was nice, but at times needed to be refilled. It would be nice to have a plain water to refill water bottles.

Room 732: was told this was an upgrade. It was at the end of the hall and very quiet, but it seemed very, very small. Despite being on the 7th floor, you could still hear a lot of street traffic, so if you want quiet, ask for a high floor. It did not have room for a couch or chair. It had a king bed, armoire and desk with office chair. It had a fridge and microwave which was nice. It was clean and comfortable.

Great hotel, perfect location!

We could easily switch rooms when we found that our ventilation in the room was making too much noise.

Mr. Marquette (working in the lobby) is TOP !!! A very friendly and welcoming person!:-)

Mo definitely has a fan club, he's awesome but I am a real person with 185 reviews over the past 15 years of travel. I'm not sure I took any pictures of my room at this Courtyard, but if I did I will add them to my review (Classic Courtyard Review of Courtyard by Marriott Washington, DC/U.S. Capitol - January 2023) or to this answer if possible. The point of my review was if you have stayed in a Courtyard, you know what you are getting. Clean, safe, buffet breakfast... I had a comfortable queen size bed and a couch (sleeper I think), a full desk, desk chair that was built right up against the dresser, which was right up against the wardrobe (with iron & ironing board). Basically, when you entered & stood in the doorway, once you passed the bathroom, the entire right-hand side of the room was this wardrobe, dresser, and desk combo - great for my work week! Past the bathroom on the left was a small nock with the mini-fridge/coffee maker/ice bucket set up; the bed followed right behind a 1/2 wall. The ONE thing I did not plan for is the outlets, there are plenty in the room but they did NOT have USB ports, just good old outlets. My bad for assuming that like many (Marriott) hotels they would have added those, just be sure to bring your plugs, not just your cords! Ladies, please note the "conditioner" in the shower will not do the trick if your hair is longer than 5 inches! But the body wash is decent. Found pictures - also not my room faced the back of the ATF building. Also note, the red (Fargaut) metro line stops a 1/2 block from the hotel.

Wifi should be free. if you are worried about night safety, stay on your side of the metro tracks. Area looks like it is in the process of gentrification to me as I have been told it was noted for crime years ago. If you head southeast on Florida, toward Union Market, the neighborhood looks a little sketchy over there. My friends did not want walk back to the hotel at night from dinner we had over there. Personally, for safety I'd be worried about being across from ATF headquarters (think Oklahoma City April 19, 1995).
