The LINE DC hotel garners mixed feedback, with guests lauding its stylish atmosphere and splendid views but knocking its sometimes noisy environment. While the rooms are often praised for their uniqueness and comfort, criticism arises regarding their state and amenities, with some guests suggesting renovations are needed.
The hotel's cleanliness and prime location near restaurants and nightlife are consistently celebrated, though the value proposition is questioned by many who find the costs steep for the service received. Service quality varies, with reports of both attentive and unresponsive staff.

When we first chose The Line for our wedding reception, the main selling points were the classy-but-comfortable decor, the decadent menu selection, and the panoramic view from the rooftop. What we could not have expected was the experience that came with all of our guests staying at the hotel for the weekend. Every day, the sweeping atrium on the main floor was full of people we loved, gathering and visiting with one another. Everyone we talked to raved about the location and surrounding neighborhood, as well as the service they had received from the hotel staff. As for the party, the Line was everything we could have hoped for. The rooftop cocktail hour provided incredible pictures and we had countless compliments about the quality of the food served for dinner.
Finally, a huge shout out to our on-site coordinator Lauren and her team for guiding us through the months leading up to the event.

Unique boutique hotel in a popular restaurant area of the District. In a converted church, the building has some unique features. The rooms are comfortable with an eclectic mix of furniture. The rooms were also remarkably quiet—no sound from the other rooms and the A/C was actually quiet, unlike the constant drone of units in lesser (and must other) hotels. The bed was comfortable. The hot water was plentiful. Our new go-to hotel jn the city. And your dog or cat can stay with you…for free.

We stayed for 1 night and the hotel accommodated our early check in request. We stayed in room 519 it was a good size room with 2 double beds which were quite comfortable. Bathroom was good size with shower only, no bath. Location is quiet good however would not recommend public transport, nearest station is around 15 mins. From Union station it’s around 20-30 minutes by Uber and cost us around $25-28. It’s better to use UBER. Housekeeping disappointed us as the cleanliness was an issue and we reported this to the management. The only reason I have scored 4 stars is because the way they handled the complaint was great. Assistant Front Office Manager Ebanisha was great in resolving the challenges we had during our stay. We left disappointed however the way the situation was handled made me score 4 star. Thank you Ebanisha.

The hotel is fine. The location is conveniently walkable to local nightlife and transit. The place is comfortable but feels a little worn in. It’s pretty clean, though there is a weird damp/musty smell in the hallways. If you’re sensitive to mold maybe skip it. The reason for the low score is the service. Staff is helpful, if not necessarily friendly. We booked directly through the hotel and were offered a package with $25 per day worth of credit at the hotel bar and restaurant. We had a snack at the bar (it was fine but I probably wouldn’t On checkout I realized that the credit hadn’t been applied. Fine, okay things happen. So I emailed guest service to request an adjustment and was told that the F&B credit I was promised was actually reflected in the room rate. Except that math doesn’t work out and it’s not what I was promised when I booked. I responded with a screenshot of my booking confirmation and the text of the offer, and was ghosted. It’s now been several weeks and I haven’t heard back from the hotel at all. Not the kind of service I expect from a hotel that bills itself as four stars.

We hoped this hotel would be our new "home away from home" on our regular trips to DC. We were excited that it was within walking distance of family and favorite restaurants. The price was more than we had been paying at a previous hotel we frequent, but the expected elegance and convenience seemed worth the difference.
Ha! Not. As frequent travelers, the experience was one of the worst we have ever had. When we arrived in the rain, we were shunted around to the Registration Desk which was in a basement entrance on a side street, not through the grand looking front entrance doors we first approached. The person who checked us in, for a reservation obtained two months in advance, said, "I have a nice large room for you!"
The room, which was large, seemed cavernous in its sparse furnishings. One set of windows was covered in partially peeling plastic. Uncovered windows on the adjacent wall overlooked the dumpsters. This was by far the noisiest room we have ever endured, including NYC! All throughout both nights of our stay, numerous local bars made repeated trips to the dumpsters to dispose of their glass bottles. In between the periodic shattering glass, we listened to multiple arguments each night between locals hanging out in the alley.
The inside of the hotel was no better. When someone knocked on the room across the hall the sound reverberated and seemed like someone knocking on and entering our door. When the upstairs guest moved around in their room, we heard it all, including late night basketball or jumping jacks??? and early morning jogging.
The halls, elevators and common spaces were dark and cramped, in sharp contrast to the open and light pictures on the website. We were given one complimentary bottle of water for the two of us and told we could refill it in the gym, if needed.
This supposed 5 star hotel's brunch was a joke. My daughter ordered the Cheese and Jam Board ("a selection of local cheese, seasonal jam, cultured butter, buttermilk biscuits") She got one biscuit, a small container of jam and 3 small triangles of the same kind of cheese.
The staff was indifferent at best.
A perfectly horrible stay in DC.

Room was clean and the lobby dinning"No Goodbyes" was excellent. Beware of hidden fees: Hotel Amenity fee of $27.00 + Tax 15.95% $4.31= $31.31 per nigh added on. (the amenity included that you could eat at the lobby restaurant or order room service, no real amenities were provided). Before arriving I called the front desk and asked about parking. I was told yes, they have a parking garage. What they do not tell you is there is no self parking and the valet parking is $55.00 +18% tax of $9.90= $64.90per nigh to park. My $345.24 room charge with $151.28 of add on fees (parking, tax, amenity fee) came to $496.52 per night. The lobby staff could barely look up from their person phones to help us. We could never find the valet when pulling up to the hotel, had to get out of car and go find them in their break room. They also did not wear any clothing that indicated they were the valets, so a key could easily be handed over to anyone in the driveway.

We stayed at The Line DC for our anniversary weekend. When I asked via text (in response to an initial text from the hotel) to arrange for champagne and flowers, I was met with a response that we needed to use “the app,” which was not introduced or evident to us. In the end, we did not get what we wanted. Upon arrival, we were greeted by surly front desk staff. Although there was no one else in the lobby, one of the people merely played on her phone while we waited to check in. We were met with a nasty response when I inquired about checking in, so the other person, who was not much more friendly, checked us in. The other front desk person lost her temper and left on her “break.” When I asked for the person’s name, the other did not know it and merely informed us that she was “new.” We asked the manager to contact us, but this never occurred during our entire stay. We arranged for a late checkout for an additional fee. However, the housekeeping staff twice entered our room inquiring about when we were leaving, interrupting our early afternoon and asking if we had informed the front desk. Of course, we did – and we were charged for it! The only time service was on par was when ordering extra coffee pods which were delivered quickly. Even so, the staff were not in uniform and had no name tags. The coffee was delivered in a brown paper bag.
The Line may have a unique design, albeit a bit dated and tired, but the customer service was a major letdown. We strongly advise against staying at The Line DC. There are numerous other superior options in Washington, DC.
Despite the hotel staff's lack of hospitality, the restaurant staff at No Goodbyes was terrific. Kudos to Hannah, our server, and the bartender. The food and drink were delicious. Go to the restaurant and skip the hotel.

We stayed here with other family members over Christmas in order to be close to family in DC. The room rate was excellent but the cost of having valet car service was almost equivalent to the room charge given all the taxes and fees. Buyer beware. Room was adequate but warm. We even turned off the HVAC but it was still too warm to sleep with the comforter on. The restaurant area is spacious and inviting, however, the food was disappointing especially given the cost. Lobby was dark and we had a hiccup at check-in which caused a delay. Exercise room was very nice.

My son and I stayed here as part of a family gathering and picked the hotel because of its proximity to our family’s get together. We absolutely loved the hotel and would wholly come back here.
It was my son’s first time ever visiting Washington DC and the hotel graciously gave him a cookie at check in along with a bottle of their water. He was so happy and the cookie was delicious.
The rooms are boutique-like with upper tier amenities and comfortable furnishings. The bed was soft, shower water was hot, and daily housekeeping did a phenomenal job.
As others have mentioned, theirs a pay as you go breakfast option in the lobby that was about on par with what you’d spend at a local restaurant in the area and the food quality was good (I.e $6 for a medium latte and $12-14 for a breakfast sandwich). The staff was all supremely nice and accommodating.
The only downside to the hotel itself was on the Friday night we were there, there was super loud music, which kept my son and I up until about 100am, followed by the drunk guests hollering in the halls on their way back to their rooms.
The hotel is safe. There’s a small park where the local addicts hang out, but it didn’t detract from the hotel and is common to DC these days.
Overall, we would happily stay here again and definitely would recommend it.

Our favorite DC hotel with a great neighborhood vibe. The hotel is immaculate, the staff is exceptional, and the restaurant/coffeehouse is always buzzing. The rooms have hardwood floors (no dirty/questionable carpets and the bathrooms have walk-in showers - two features that we really value. Lots of great restaurants in the Adams Morgan neighborhood and easy access to the zoo which is a 10 minute walk away.
