I came here to celebrate my birthday(early). Staff was very friendly and eager to help. Room super comfy and clean as a whistle:) Lots of towels and great water pressure. No complaints, just wish I could've stay an entire week.
Looked over a few reviews and noticed the General Manager responded with an email and phone number. I've stayed plenty of places, and this GM goes above and beyond to make sure guests are taken care of. I'll gladly stay here again in the future. The is no other choice for me at the Wharf:)
Kudos to entire staff for making my stay one to remember:)

We stayed here on our visit to Washington DC recently and really enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very well located on the wharf and has excellent views across the Potomac. It is within walking distance of all the main sights but if you don’t fancy the walk then there is a free shuttle bus to the national mall.
The Potomac river taxi also stops here just a few yards from the hotel and can take you to Georgetown, Alexandria and national harbour.
We found the room to be an excellent size and well appointed. We had a small balcony with a view of the wharf and river.
Our room rate included breakfast which we enjoyed although for an extended stay there isn’t a huge choice. The waitstaff where very good and friendly - particularly Daniel and Oscar.
There are quite a few restaurants on the wharf but prices are inflated here and for a more reasonable priced meal head to the down town area.
The gym is well equipped and also benefits from the great views of the river. We’d definitely stay here again if in DC.

A lot to digest? Read an AI-generated summary of recent traveler reviews.
The glistening marble floors, the ample lobby space to relax in, and the unique lights on sky high ceilings transformed my wet and gloomy travel day into a bright and eye-catching arrival experience at Intercontinental The Wharf. I stood in awe observing the people, the staff, the architecture, and the front desk/concierge area and felt a sense of place and sense of belonging. I approached the front desk staff where Mariam and Tyler greeted me with the most memorable smile and enthusiastic welcome to Washington DC. Having not been to the DC area in 9 years, I initially felt out of place because The Wharf is an area I hadn't been familiar with. However, everyone I spoke to at the front desk provided me with the best tourism and restaurant recommendations in The Wharf and the entire city! When I returned one evening, someone had asked me how my day was and my walk along the Potomac River which resulted in a joyous conversation. Judging from the way all the staff made me feel, I realized that Intercontinental The Wharf isn't just a hotel in a cool city, but a home away from home where I always will feel welcomed at any time of year.

My colleague and I checked in around 1 AM on a saturday evening, and the hotel was ready to greet us and took very good care checking us in quickly and expeditiously. The breakfast service at Kith/Kin was efficient and professional, again as we were there for work they got us in and out quickly with delicious food and hot coffee at the ready. Housekeeping did a great job keeping the room properly stocked and ready to go.
My one regret is not having to stay longer!
I can't wait to return with the family to enjoy DC in the summer months.

What can you say about an Intercontinental Hotel? The brand requires a certain level of quality and comfort and The Wharf in Washington DC does not disappoint.
I generally would not stay at a hotel this pricey but it was a business trip and on somebody else's tab. This hotel is definitely a five-star experience. The staff was friendly and courteous and the concierge was especially knowledgeable and helpful in helping us plan our after hours tourist excursions.
There are a number of restaurants on site as well as 24-hour room service. even the restaurants in walking distance or kind of pricey, but there are a variety of fresh seafood choices just a couple of blocks away for reasonable value.
But the big surprise was the Kith/Kin, a world class restaurant that James Beard heralds as one of the best in the country. No question the menu is expensive, but if you are into a culinary experience this is the place. The offering is a unique take on an afro-carribean cuisine but some things may be a bit spicy. I am sure they will make any spice adjustments upon request.
The only issue is it is very popular and you will need a reservation on the weekends and, even after being seated, be prepared to wait as your dish is being prepared. We had a large party and shared different dishes with each other. We were so impressed that we treated ourselves to another meal the next night. Among the favorites were the curry goat, gumbo, and chicken wings, but the star was the deep fried whole snapper. All in all it was worth every penny!
Back to the hotel, if you stay here you will not be disappointed.

The entire team really went above and beyond, from Front Office to Housekeeping, the new restaurant and in-room dining (who did a follow up call to check on the service).
Very conscious with COVID-19 and it’s procedures. All in all, very happy with my experience.
Only critic is the iron in my room (733 or 734) was rusty and it stained my shirt (favorite shirt). I did mentioned this during my checkout to the FD. Housekeeping should revise these items on every room inspection.
I’ll still give you a 5 star rating because I know how much this means to the operation :)

We stayed at this hotel during the coronavirus out break so all the normal services that a nice hotel would provide were not being offered and all of the common areas were closed to hotel guest, so no pool, restaurant, gym etc... The areas though looked very nice and the guest room was well designed with a very nice bathroom. We did book a suite since we weren't allowed to visit or hang out anywhere in public. The hotel had made appropriate changes to make guest feel safe. I would not hesitate to stay at this hotel during the coronavirus again. The rates were obviously adjusted lower since guest could not use many of the hotel amenities.

Stay Report - 10/17 to 10/18
Location: A really nice aspect of this hotel. This was my first time in the Wharf District and I really liked it. Lots of places to eat and drink at, a nice outdoor promenade to walk around on and you're away from the DC tourist traffic. The lack of public transit is a little annoying and not one of the half dozen Ubers I took knew how to get to the hotel so I had to meet them on the street but overall it's a great place to be. There's even a CVS on the same corner as the hotel which is a bonus.
Hotel: A really nice modern property. Huge, airy lobby, very modern style rooms, a complete opposite look of the Willard. Sadly a lot of the hotel's features are closed right now including the bar and restaurant though they had some kind of pop up option with food until 7 PM.
Check In: I arrived a little after 1 and was able to get checked in right away. Sadly the only upgrade I got as a Spire/Ambassador was from a King Deluxe to a King Superior but the staff were very friendly which I appreciated.
Room: Despite the lack of upgrade this was a really good room. A large bathroom with a great shower, large bedroom area with a huge and comfortable bed with outlets next to it, work space, huge TV, small sitting area and a great view of the Wharf. There are no noise issues either and and the blackout curtains were great. It was an excellent room especially for a luxury US hotel.
Dining: the big drawback of the hotel right now. As I mentioned the restaurant and bar are closed. I had a $20 Food and Beverage credit and the minibar was limited to a few packaged snacks. I ordered a smoked salmon toast, side of bacon, coffee and orange juice for breakfast which came to $53 before tip. The OJ was $8 and was literally an 8 ounce bottle of Tropicana from concentrate that would have been $1.79 at CVS.Â
Overall though it's a very good option in DC and I'll be back.

We played "tourista" with our grandchildren in early October, booking two rooms with river views. The hotel is in a very convenient location with numerous restaurants in the area, from fast food to expensive. Included in price (I believe it was an additional cost when we made the reservations) was daily breakfast which was very good but inattentive staff and slow service. We had drinks at the bar one evening, great service. The front desk and all the support staff were great, kudos all of them and special shoutout to "Ridi". The rooms had a great view with a small outdoor seating area, the rooms though somewhat small were fine and clean. Internet service was good. I would stay at this Intercontinental Hotel again.

Just came back from a delightful weekend at the InterContinental at The Wharf. Can't beat the location and walking proximity to the National Mall, as well as so many great restaurants on The Wharf. Our King Superior room was clean and comfortable with a fantastic view of the Washington Channel. This was our first venture out since pandemic lockdown last year and we just wanted to feel safe and comfortable - we were so grateful for all of the attention to details exerted by the hotel staff. Highlight of the weekend was dinner at Moon Rabbit. We enjoyed it so much, we came back for a 2nd night with friends. Shout out to Edgar and Jeremy for offering great suggestions and being attentive without being intrusive. And thanks also to the front desk staff - both Rachel and Marian answered questions about how to navigate the local area, as well as setting up our reservation. This stay was a master class in hospitality.

I assume that is possible but there are 12 floors so you then better book a room on a lower floor. Best check with the front desk in advance.
