My four stars are for what I consider to be five star service. The hotel refunded our entire stay (booked through Expedia) due to the issues that we had during our stay. But only four stars because we really should not have had the issues in the first place. Hopefully though this will not repeat in the future. My best friend and I booked one night Saturday for Memorial Day weekend to do a staycation. The staff was amazing, they really made you feel appreciated and as if you were being provided with five star service. We had originally booked a room that was higher up with a water view. Our room was not ready and so we went to get some food. While dining the front desk called and let us know that they could upgrade us to a room with a full balcony on a lower floor, which the front desk said was the better room. Upon arriving in the room we were very pleased to see that the balcony was huge, with a full sized table and chairs and an amazing water view. We were on the 4th floor. Unfortunately the outside of the door was covered with mosquitos. There was no screen and there would be no way for us to open the door without them coming into the room. My friend called the front desk, where we were told they could do nothing about it, that it was because we were on the water and the time of year, and we were directed not to open the balcony door at all. It was odd since we had eaten outside several times and had zero issues with mosquitos. There was a bush and patch of grass on the balcony and I suspect that was the source. But waste of a balcony entirely. The mini bar was also unmarked. They had a can of pringles and something else in a cabinet under the TV, but it looks like drawers as does where the fridge is. So we had opened it. Upon check out we were told there were two charges for the mini bar to which we immediately responded no, I suspect it was because we opened these not knowing. Most hotels that have a charge for just opening the fridge have the fridge clearly marked, this was not so be careful with that. They removed the charges. There is also no fridge to store anything in, it is full of the mini bar items. The shower was quite nice, good pressure. I loved that the bathroom had a chair with a vanity. Unfortunately all of the mirrors are in the bathroom, including the full length mirror, that does not work well with two women. Robes were in the room on arrival but we had to call for slippers and extra amenities. Housekeeping was really nice though and brought us an entire basket of amenities to pick from. The staff did not speak English though so it was a bit difficult to communicate with them as we do not speak Spanish. But they were delightful. The reason the room was comped though was because there was a VERY loud wedding going on at the hotel. The music began at around 7:00 pm and did not end to closer to 1:00 am. I believe because we were on the floor right above it we heard it. It was literally like we were at the wedding that's how clearly I could hear the music. The floor was shaking. I first called at 11:00 to complain and was told they would be done by 12:00 and offered nothing other than they were going to ask the DJ to turn down the music. It only got louder. At closer to 12:00 am I called again and was told that it was actually not going to stop until closer to 1:00 am and they were not sure whom I spoke with. To their credit they did offer to comp the entire room. And they called the next morning to apologize, and apologized again at checkout. The charges were refunded very promptly. This is great but if you needed to sleep or had small children, it still would have been a massive issue. We did attempt to go up to the rooftop deck to try to see the sunset but were told it closed at 8:00 pm. There were protesters for a few hours in the afternoon but the hotel warned us about that, as there was a permit and it was not very disruptive as we were out and about for most of it. I do think the hotel handled this very well. But I do wish we had not had the issue in the first place. It is a great location and the rooms are quite nice, wonderful view, great staff overall. Hoping this is a one off but wanted to let others know.

The hotel itself is lovely and the staff are very welcoming. The view from the rooftop is pretty amazing. The drinks are quite overpriced, but that is to be expected for the area. Everything at the wharf comes with a markup. The beds are quite firm and there are no exhaust fans in the bathroom, which can make it a little uncomfortable with 2 adults and 2 children trying to get ready for the day. The valet option, should you choose to use it, needs a bit of a refresher on communication. 4 times we requested our vehicle and every time they tried to charge me as if we were checking out. I do not think that should be a deterrent from staying at the hotel, just wanted to make people aware of our experience.

I could not believe IHG's callous and outrageous reaction towards the restaurant workers unionization! Closing down Moon Rabbit just when they got nominated as one of the 10 Best Restaurants in the US by Food & Wine, a finalist for the 2023 The RAMMY's Upscale Casual Restaurant, and Chef Kevin Tien as a finalist for The RAMMY's 2023 Chef of The Year was the biggest mistake they made. Not to mention, doing this during the AAPI (Asian American Pacific Islander) month! Chef Kevin Tien has brought lots of accolades and honor to IHG. He and Moon Rabbit were certainly the biggest crowd-drawer for IHG! This doesn't present well for the IHG Corporation. In a span of of 6 years, you've lost two big name restaurants!

Absolutely phenomenal hotel. Wouldn’t change or thing or ask for anything different, the hotel management and staff were incredible and the hotel was immaculate. If you haven’t stayed in DC in awhile, I highly recommend passing by this hotel and the wharf area, it’s definitely worth it.

How to think about a hotel that shuts down its thriving restaurant (rated by Food & Wine as one of the 10 best in the country) to try to prevent its employees from unionizing? If a hotel doesn’t care about its employees, then how can it care about its guests? I will never stay there again.

Location is nice and building is also nice, but service is lacking. For example would request car from valet and would have to ask again as they seemed to get distracted and forget. Front desk was not very friendly and made mistakes on bill. No turn down service, no bottled water in room. Breakfast was not enjoyable as there was a protest/rally against the hotel right outside were we were sat for breakfast (union vs IHG Hotels.) Hard to enjoy your meal under such circumstances. There are several other reasonably priced hotels or may try the Pendry next time.

Excellent stay. Location, room accommodations, bed and pillow comfort all superior. Only complaint is a courtesy complaint. I was not alerted upon check-in to the fact that the room I was assigned to had an adjoining room to another with a pass through door. It was Georgetown Graduation weekend, there was also a professional Soccer team and several wedding parties staying at the hotel. Because I had an 'adjoining room' to someone unrelated to me, partying for whatever reason, I endured the late night partying shenanigans, slipping through the door, chanting 'OMAHA' and drunken shouting, etc., of those in the adjoining room well into the night and early morning hours, specifically 3am. Other than that noisy challenge on one of a two night stay, I have no complaints and only raves about location, accommodations, service, etc. One side note, we left three signature cocktails at the hotel bar's hightop table area unfinished because they were watery and not worth consuming. We were never served a glass of wine we ordered and got tired of waiting for. Bartenders were obviously over extended and couldn't meet the needs of the variety of patrons.

I come to this hotel quite often while on travel for both personal and business stays. The InterContinental Wharf gets everything right...EVERY TIME; from welcome to good-bye! I asked for a special request on my most recent visit for my Mother's Birthday and I was overwhelmed with the thoughtfulness and execution of my request! I couldn't have done better myself and my mother and family were all wowed! Food & Drinks are both excellent at their restaurant, Moon Rabbit, location is ideal to tourists attractions and the staff are more than friendly. Rooms are quiet, views of the Potomac River and the Wharf are a great touch and the design is super modern. Khristine, their Guest Relations Manager, has been nothing short of spectacular. A true master of care and recognition is the gold standard of her class. I appreciate the training of her staff to ensure IHG standards are met and exceeded. I can't thank her and the staff enough :-). Fun, professional and attentive! If anyone is on the fence of what hotel to stay while in the DC area, don't hesitate, just book this hotel. You WONT be disappointed.
