Just wanted a convenient place in the vicinity of the town as we were doing the Queen Charlotte Drive the next day, which is a must. Site was clean and up to the usual TOP10 standards. Ideal location for those arriving or departing for North island

We stopped here in a motorhome prior to using the InterIslander ferry to Wellington. The site is extremely convenient for the ferry terminal. It is very good, with very clean facilities and fairly generous sized pitches for motorhomes. It was perfect for our purposes. But we

We were very happy with this top ten park, one of our favourites and we stay in many, so we will come and stay again! The park is in a wonderful spot as it's an easy 10 minute walk into the centre to cafes and shops and a lovely foot bridge to admire the harbour from

We stayed here and went to the mussel festival in Havelock. Perfect for a group of friends. You can walk to the restaurants and cafes and to and from the ferry. The rooms are lovely and there was plenty of space for all of us.

You will be able to walk to the Ferry but it would take 30 minutes. Driving about 5 minutes. Because the camp is behind the marina I don't think you have a good view of the ferries.

We toured NZ (both islands) last year in late February-March in a camper and most of the time we would either make reservation the same day (over the Internet through our phone), or we just turned up. We have never ran into any problems. We have almost always got in sometimes in the afternoon before dinner so we had time to cook and chill, but have noticed that by later evening most of the places filled up. It worked really well for us, because if we liked it somewhere, we stayed longer without having to worry that we would have to rebook our places further down the road and the flexibility was great, however we did go a month later than you are planning, which may have been a little further into the off-season. NZ - what a fantastic place!!
