I don't normally do this sort of thing, so I'll be brief. But the point is my stay was so idillic that I felt it was essential to give it the thumbs up to anyone who may bother to read this.

We decided to finish our three weeks in NZ with a stay in Akaroa and I have to say it was the perfect ending to our trip.
The house itself is stunning with, superbly decorated rooms with lots of little finishing touches that really make a difference. The communal areas are again, stunning, obviously cared for and maintained by the owners. What amazed me the most was how comfortable I felt here. I believe you can judge a host on how 'at home' you feel' and for me it really felt like it was mine for the night.
The hosts themselves are very knowledgeble about the area and are willing to share what they know. They were very attentive, but at no time did we ever feel our privacy was invaded.
They informed me that they have had the B&B for nearly 7 years. I do hope they continue long into the future.
Thank you both for a really memorable stay.

Had a fabulous stay - the period and style of the house were very to my taste - rooms & decor very much in keeping, but with all the modern amenities! Lovely comfortable bed.
Even though the weather outside was very cold, the house was warm & toasty.
Owners Greg & Teresa were most hospitable - thoroughly enjoyed their company.
Concluded my stay with a very yummy eggs benedict to set me on my way.
Would highy recommend to all who venture out to this gorgeous wee village of Akaroa.

We stayed three nights in March. A large room in an elegant B and B was the perfect accommodation. The location affords a short walk into the charming center of town, on the sea the host was excellent in his recommendations re activities and served a delicious breakfast.

Lovely room with ensuite. We had a comfortable and relaxing stay. At one end of town, quiet but easy walk to lots of restaurants. Hosts were welcoming and friendly and gave us lots of advice on local landmarks and restaurants. Excellent breakfast which set us up for the day.
Spent our evenings sitting on the balcony with a glass of wine.
Would highly recommend.

My husband and I enjoyed a perfect stay at Oinako B&B. The seaside setting is sublime, and the decor and accommodations are serene and beautiful in every way. Owners and proprietors, Greg and Teresa, warmly welcomed us and were perfect hosts throughout our stay. They are present when needed and discreet at the same time, allowing us our privacy in their beautiful home. Greg provided lots of wonderful “concierge” advice about best places to go and how to optimize our 4-day visit. Breakfast was both delicious and inventive, different each morning, and served in a magnificent dining room in the grandeur of this antique house, which has been completely redone post-earthquake, incorporating modern freshness with all the vintage touches. The decor of the Lodge is marvelous and sophisticated, with tasteful attention to use of historic colors and materials. Each room and public spaces are outfitted with thoughtful details, such as a ‘frig with complimentary wine and cookies, high-end toiletries and inviting NZ reading materials. No higher compliment than to say that we felt that we had been welcomed into the home of dear friends. We loved our visit and you will too!

We stayed here with two other couples for two nights at the end of our trip to New Zealand. It was a wonderful way to finish the trip. This Historic home is beautiful and the owners, Greg and Teresa were delightful. The full breakfasts were delicious. The rooms were spacious with comfortable beds and linens.

Everything was fantastic! I have one recommendation and that would be to put some sort of stand or shelves in the bathrooms. There is no place to put toiletries.

Response from Oinako, Manager at Oinako Bed and Breakfast
Responded Nov 21, 2017
Hello to you all! We are so pleased you enjoyed your stay with us and it was a pleasure to meet you all. Hopefully you are well rested after your long trip home. Thanks so much for your thoughts on the bathroom storage. The bathrooms have either a pull out drawer or cupboard underneath the bathroom sinks to store personal items, however, we had ordered shelves for extra storage and Greg installed these yesterday. They already appear to be a useful addition. We wish you all the best for future trips together and hope to see you again one day. Warm regards and happy travels Teresa and Greg Oinako Bed and Breakfast, Akaroa

Teresa and Greg made us feel so at home we just didn't want to leave! The house was stunning, rooms cosy and luxurious and a real sense of history. We loved the tranquil garden and the views from the balcony of port and pier rooms were sublime. Breakfasts excellent and generous. Our favourite place and favourite people made this an idyllic end to our holiday. Anybody flying home from Christchurch should definitely stay here! It's only 1.5 hours from the airport.

We were only able to stay here for one night, which was a serious oversight on our part. Greg and Teresa are the consummate hosts who welcomed us warmly and made us immensely comfortable immediately. The house is meticulously restored and a masterpiece. A conversation with Greg about his restoration of the sculpted plaster ceilings revealed his love and dedication to this glorious old landmark. Our room (Jasmine) was elegant, comfortable and afforded a spectacular view of Akaroa harbour. The bath was similarly inviting with a huge comfortable tub and nice big towels. Breakfast was delicious in a charming period dining room with lovely views of the garden. Having read the one "average" review of the Oinako Lodge here on Trip Advisor, I can only conclude that this individual has a mistaken view of what Bed and Breakfast accommodations are about as well as a skewed view of a truly luxurious and impeccably operated facility. This is a five-star facility, without doubt. We will be back and will consider this a "must stay" when making recommendations to friends.

This is an upmarket B&B in a restored historic home with wonderfully thoughtful hosts, Greg and Teresa. We stayed 3 nights in the Magnolia Room with garden and bay views (these would have been a bit obscured when the Magnolia tree is in leaf or bloom). The room was oversized and the bed very comfortable with small but functional bathroom. The house was well appointed and very clean with a large guest lounge and dining room. Teresa's breakfasts are delicious and the coffee hot and strong. Akaroa is very quaint and nice and quiet at night for a great rest. We were a bit disappointed there wasn't more overt French influence.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Oinako Lodge - our only regret was having to leave. Akaroa is truly beautiful and the unobtrusive and yet warm hospitality of our hosts, Greg and Teresa, ensured that Oinako Lodge is a place that we would definitely wish to visit again.

The stunning harbour views, the attention to detail of our hosts and, of course, the fantastic cooked breakfast made this B&B a memorable place to stay.
