Detailed Reviews
Rosemary and her home are warm and welcoming. Situated within walking distance of south Akaroa the house has a beautiful garden and views of the bay.
Our room was large with a comfortable bed and plenty of space. The bed came with electric blankets which were great. There is a shared bathroom with toilet which wasn't a problem for us.
Guests are welcome to wander the house. The lounge has a wonderful fire place and is a nice spot to enjoy a red wine or curl up with a good book. The veranda also has seating overlooking the bay but it was a bit cold when we stayed,
Breakfast was lovely with home made bread, croissants, & yoghurt.
However, the highlight of the stay was definitely Rosemary who is informative, funny, caring and a pleasure to meet. She has a fantastic outlook on life and is still very young at heart. Rosemary is just like your favourite grandmother ( or the one you wish you had).

After another great day at the Akaroa Cooking School we had booked a night at the, close by, Room With a View B&B.
It was a lovely stay.
One does not pay for polished marble, nor for shiny ensuite, spa bath, mod cons, etc.
No, you pay (little) for a comfortable warm bed, a true New Zealand character villa, a great view, and most of all, a lovely host.
Rosemary made our short stay a pleasure. Rosemary will tell you all about Akaroa and life on the peninsula.
I highly recommend a stay for those that appreciate character.

We returned to Akaroa to walk the Banks Peninsular track for a second time and had enjoyed Rosemary's "Room with a view" B&B last time so we chose to reprise the decision to stay there.
Great location a short stroll to Akaroa village combined with a host who made us feel welcomed and provided the best local tourist information that could be hoped for.

Stayed with Rosemary in her humble abode, and it was indeed home away from home.
We were given good directions as we had called before arriving and located her house with no issue! Each rooms sleeps 2 max so with only 2 rooms you might not be able to find too large a crowd which would be manageable for Rosemary. Shared toilet between both rooms.
Just a 3min walk to the small
Town of Akaroa where you can also take the habour cruises. The town boasts of having the best fish and chips in town! Go
For the hoki, fresh and value for money.
Most importantly Rosemary made our stay very comfortable, breakfast was simple with freshly baked crossiants and toast and muesli to name a few. Just feel free to hang out in front of the fireplace or at the deck facing out into the sea. Talk to her a bit and you'll be able to understand a little on the history of and what Akaroa is all about.

From the moment we arrived we knew our stay would be perfect. Rosemary is so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area and was very willing to help us with any transport needs. The rooms are spacious & comfortable. The outlook over Akaroa harbour and surrounding area is beautiful. Rosemary serves a delicious breakfast which includes produce from her garden. Rosemary is the perfect hostess and makes you feel at home.

What a lovely experience to stay there. Rosemary was so friendly and helpful, such a lovely lady. Room was nice, and clean and a very comfortable bed. To see the sunrise in the morning from our bed was magnificient.
Good breakfast and only a 5 minute walk into town.
An old house, full of character, open wood fire, lovely garden, Lovely verandah to sit out and enjoy the warm sun, with a glass of wine or a cup of coffee, reading a book, just lovely.
We did have doubts about the shared bathroom, but we were the only guests so it did not matter. We found out that usually it is only one couple who stays or a family, so the shared bathroom is not a problem.
Will certainly stay there agian and recommend this place to all our friends and family.

Arrived in Akaroa Mon 9th January after a long flight, Rosemary was not in but left a lovely message on the door let yourself in and make yourself at home. Our rooms had our names on them so we could unpack after about 45 minutes Rosemary arrived a lovely lady who made our stay a true joy, Nothing was to much trouble for Rosemary she was on hand if you needed anything, but also gave you plenty of privacy. I will always remember chilling on the veranda looking over the bay and at Rosemary's beautiful garden. I would just like to say Rosemary you are a lovely, lovely lady and made Marie, Jim, Jill and myself's stay one we all will truly remember. If you would like a warm relaxing great value for money accommodation this is the place for you.

Rosemary was warm and welcoming, and we felt immediately relaxed in her homely old villa with the veranda looking over a pretty garden. We loved the breakfast that included hot bread and fresh berries. A very reasonable price. We'll be back!

My husband and I stayed with Rosemary at the Room with a View B&B on our recent trip to Akaroa. We couldn't have been more pleased .... not only was the historic house lovely and the views phenomenal, Rosemary herself was the true gem of our stay. She was so warm and friendly we didn't want to leave! If you are looking for a home-stay in Akaroa and really want to feel a part of the community, then look no further. Rosemary's gardens are absolutely amazing ... lemon, avocado, apple, and tangerine trees as well as lovingly-tended roses and flowers. If you are lucky, Rosemary might even introduce you to her garden chicken. We will absolutely be back!
