We have stayed here twice and plan to stay here a lot more. The house is beautiful, tastefully decorated with everything from a log burner to high quality furnishings and toiletries.
However it is not the quality of the accomodation, which is excellent that makes this place so special. The hospitality is unrivalled , friendly and makes you feel at home, but without all the hassle .
I can not recommend this place highly enough.

Stunning property that is at the luxury end of the market and achieves it. The room was wonderful and comfortable as well as welcoming.
I wish I had 25% of the decorative flair that the owner has. Our only regret was that we were staying just the one night.
If you are staying in Akaroa I doubt you will find a better option.

Our chilly weekend trip to Akaroa was warmed by an amazing stay at Villa 114. Wonderfully hosted by Ali, she makes you feel welcomed and comfortable the moment you walk in. The Villa is modern, fresh, cosy and the rooms are beautifully presented. This is one of the few places where the accommodate is the real experience - it is a must for anyone staying in the area.

There is plenty of room in the kitchen/dining room, and each couple has an identical spacious bedroom/ensuite. The location is a short stroll from some good restaurants/bars, and for those that prefer a longer stroll (15 mins), there are some more good restaurants/bars to be found.

Villa 114 is a beautifully renovated, comfortable cottage full of style and charm. It is well situated close to restaurants, cafes, shops and the jetty. As nice as the premises are, the star of the show is Ali, the proprietor, a great hostess and awesome cook. Her breakfasts are a highlight - nutritious and delicious. The kitchen is well stocked and we purchased some meat from the excellent local butcher and tasty vegetables from the small supermarket and ate in 2 of the 3 nights we stayed.

Villa 114 is such a special place to stay. It is obvious that Ali has an eye for detail as nothing was out of place and it was immaculate. Being able to bring our dog and have him lie by the fire while we had a glass of wine was an added bonus. Finding a dog friendly place that is still worthy of 5 stars are very rare. Ali's hospitality is second to none and made us feel at ease and comfortable. Will definitely be back for another stay and wouldn't recommend anywhere else in Akaroa.

Our few days in Akaroa were made extra special by Ali and Villa 114. A beautiful intimidate property with highest standard of accommodation, cuisine and hospitality.
Loved the position, décor, gardens, bed, breakfast, homemade delicacies by Ali and even had a big hug from Bo. Thank you Ali and congratulations we will certainly recommend to friends and be back.

My husband, son and I recently had the pleasure of staying in the fabulous Villa 114. This historic cottage was recently renovated to bring it to modern standards while preserving its French heritage charm. The cottage oozes appeal with an inviting porch and front garden, two en-suite guest rooms, a cozy living and dining area, and comfortable outdoor seating on the rear deck.

Ali, the owner, worked tirelessly to ensure all of our needs were met to provide a most pleasant stay. Our suite was impeccably clean and tastefully decorated. Ali added lovely touches, such as luxury bath products and vases of fresh flowers. A bottle of locally produced wine chilled in the kitchen refrigerator. In college, Ali studied the culinary arts and she shared her talents with us every morning at breakfast time. The communal dining table was laden with fresh pastries from the local bakery, succulent white peaches from the tree in the backyard and delicious preserves made by Ali herself. She also prepared delicious hot breakfasts using local ingredients.

The cottage is centrally located within easy walking distance to most Akaroa attractions. We walked a very short distance to the quaint movie theatre. The beach, restaurants and shopping are just a couple of blocks away.

Villa 114 was definitely one of my favorite accommodations during my family’s two week trip exploring New Zealand. If you’d like to get away from the typical hotel room, treat yourself to Ali’s fine hospitality in one of Akaroa’s historic homes. You’ll be glad you did!
