Detailed Reviews
We stayed for 4 nights (Fri-Mon) in a king sized bed room with balcony. The styling and furnishings are beautiful, and the room spacious, with high ceilings and cleaned daily - it was immaculate. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony, taking in the sights. Parking offsite in a nearby Secure parking station was reasonable @ $24 per day, with unlimited access. The location is right in the centre of town, surrounded by restaurants art galleries, book shops, vinyl record stores and life.
The roof top bar has spectacular views and great cocktails. The public bar has live music every day. We dined there on Monday night and the singer/guitarist Ari Davis is a fantastic musician. The dinner was delicious and reasonably priced.
There were ear plugs in the room as sound does infiltrate from the music downstairs and occasionally from revellers but the double glazing ensures it is muted. We didn't use them and had great nights sleep in the most comfortable bed. We thoroughly enjoyed every aspect of our stay in this exceptionally well run and beautiful boutique hotel.

We chose "the Nash" (as some of our local friends refer to it) for the great location and the wheelchair accessible room. It exceeded all expectations. The staff were super friendly and helpful - everyone from housekeeping, bar staff and front of house were very professional and a pleasure to interact with. The accessible room was BIGGER than it had appeared in the photos and very functional (a few minor improvement suggestions were welcomed by staff). The decor throughout the premises is very funky and interesting, including exhibited artworks for sale. Food was great (in house and room service, including vegetarian options). Live bands (not too loud), quiet inside the room, generally well maintained and clean throughout. Couldn't be more conveniently located for places to eat, drink and wander about in downtown Freo. Loved it. We hope to be back!

We stayed at the National Hotel in a Deluxe Queen room (room 7) for three nights in March. The hotel rooms are modern, clean and spacious. We were the floor below the rooftop bar/restaurant and we didn't experience any noise - the earplugs provided were a nice touch but even with a St Patricks day event we didn't end up needing them.
The location is fantastic for exploring on foot, we had a hire car but didn't end up using it while in Fremantle.
The staff were wonderful, we left a couple of items of clothing in the room after check out by mistake and they contacted us and arranged them to be mailed home. A big thank you to Janine for arranging that!!
Would also recommend the rooftop bar for dinner and cocktails.

While watching and listening to the music and the Company of 3 other 50-60 yo couples the table waiter not only cleaned up the table we were standing beside, but also removed 2 x 3/4 full bottles of wine in ice buckets. This has happened when we had our backs to table and watching the band. I was within 500mm of the table!!!!!!
When challenged we were told by Management that we should be more responsible for our drinks. Fair dinkum -Their customer service is appalling and after emailing my concern 3 weeks later I still haven’t had a reply.
Stay away !

The stay at The National in Fremantle was another highlight of my month long trip. A Heritage Hotel right in the center of this attractive historical town, in the corner of the two main streets: High and Market, thus with plenty of restaurants, breakfast places and all the main sights in walking distance.
By concidence I happened to be there on Nov 28th 2019, when the 'Freo Long Table Dinner' event takes place, with plenty of music and parading, of eating and merrymaking. When checking in the friendly lady at reception informed about this festivity and told me to participate. Since my room was facing High Street I saw that the hotel had provided ear plugs. In fact I didn't need them, since i had been out myself that night and everything got pretty quiet way before midnight.
There are only twelve rooms in this accomodation, distributed over two floors. From the hotel's fire escape plan I could see that all rooms were of different shape. Mine was No 12, not the largest, but with a well sized bathroom with a separate from the shower bathtub. It was also the hightest up and the only one facing the backside, just above High Street.
Just a few steps above my room was the fantastic rooftop bar with a 360 degrees view and very special drinks. Thus I enjoyed a 'Modern London Twist', a pink Gin with a slice of Grapefruit and a Rosemary branch. On the ground floor, but with a separate entrance than the one to the hotel is a more casual pub.

We Stayed over night to take in a fringe show and visit some of the new bars that have popped up in freo. The National hotel is in a fantastic spot in the heart of town .The room was spacious and newly refitted bathrooms and sound proofing .The bed was very comfy and the towels fluffy .
Take your own tea and coffee though .There is tea and coffee making facilities in the room but only 1 black tea each and no instant coffee .
Finding a parking spot near the hotel to check in was an issue . If you know your arrival time buy you parking prior to going .The staff at reception were friendly and helpful.
The roof top bar is worth a visit if the weather permits ,just don’t order the squid .

We visited the National Hotel for 4 nights and thought it was a great room in a top location for a Fremantle stay. The room is super clean and the staff were really helpful. We received a $150 voucher to use for food and drinks because we booked directly with the hotel. We also received 2 drink vouchers for The Old Courthouse, which is a beautifully restored building that has a pub style bistro and bar and is an easy walk a few streets away. There was a band playing on the first night at the National Hotel and the muffled sound did drift up to the room but on the other nights it was much quieter. There are complimentary earplugs provided if needed! Our room was a Deluxe Queen with balcony and the verandah was huge and has a couple of seats to sit and enjoy a quiet evening drink! The rooftop bar has amazing views across Fremantle too. It was handy to all the cafes, pubs and restaurants in Fremantle.

My husband and I were in Perth as part of a larger trip for our honeymoon. We booked a 2 night stay at the National and I wish we stayed longer! Before arrival I had contacted the hotel and asked for a surprise bottle of champagne to be put in the room for my husband. Janine at the front desk was so helpful and gave me a few recommendations before organising it for me.
The Hotel itself is very well decorated, I loved the style. They have managed to keep it very traditional but also very modern. We had the Queen Deluxe room and it was huge! As was the balcony with fab views over the rooftops of Fremantle. The bathroom toiletries were a nice touch too.
In check in we were also given a $20 voucher to spend in the bar or restaurant, so we made a trip to the fabulous roof top bar and tried a couple of cocktails. Again great views from there and a nice vibe. The bar was very cute too.
The best thing about the hotel was the staff, they were all extremely friendly, helpful and welcoming. I would 100% go back and 100% recommend this to hotel friends and family.

We stayed on a Saturday night. For $315 a night, we found the room to be very basic and not like the ones in the photos so were a little disappointed. We were also between the music of the roof top bar and music of the live band on the bottom floor so didn’t get to sleep until they stopped playing… that should probably be mentioned before booking. Finding the packet of supplied ear buds in the bathroom does not suffice when you are paying $315 a night.

We spent 4 nights here at the end of a long tour of Australia. This is a lovely historic hotel in the centre of Fremantle. We were given a top floor room which was clean, large and bright. There was air-conditioning, a fridge, coffee making facilities a safe and a big comfortable bed. The bathroom had a large walk-in shower.
Many reviews mention the noise. We were directly below the rooftop bar on a Saturday night when there was a private function with loud music. However, we knew this was likely to happen as we'd read the other reviews. The hotel provides earplugs which blocked out most of the sound. The music stops at midnight, it doesn't run into the early hours, so there wasn't much of an issue. The rooms are separated from the staircase which improves security and reduces noise from that area. There will always be noise in a city centre, but they do what they can to mitigate it.
The hotel is close to all of the restaurants, bars, cafes and shops of Fremantle. It is also within walking distance of the station. The staff were very friendly and helpful. All in all, we were very happy with our choice.

The reception is small but I think they lock it up when no one’s at the desk, best to ring them, the staff are so nice and helpful
We do not have onsite parking, but we do have an arrangement with a local car park provider. We can give you discounted parking at $25 for 24 hours, 3 min walk away from the hotel. Spaces are limited so if you wish to use it please let us know when booking. Thanks
