Detailed Reviews
Our family of four, two adults and two teens, spent six days at Qi Palawan end of December. We were picked up by the hotel at El Nido Airport , and it was an approximately 50 minutes drive to the hotel. Qi Palawan is located at the east coast, which is not that exploited as the west. Qi Palawan has a very nice pool, and that is good because the sea is very shallow and you need to wear shoes to be on the safe side when going into the sea.
We went on one snorkelling trip at the east coast, organized by the hotel and including lunch, drinks and everything that you need. The corals are really untouched, very nice to see. There was one or two other sightseeing boats out, but you feel almost complete alone (as contrast to the west coast tours...).
At qi they have the environment in focus and do not use water in plastic bottles, instead they provide cold, fresh water in the rooms twice a day in a jug.
The restaurant is ok and they make very nice drinks. For breakfast there is no buffet, instead you order what you would like from a menu. This is also good from a food waste perspective. The restaurant is open all day until approximately 9.30 PM.
They have free yoga classes every morning. There is also a Kite instructor located at the hotel. They used to have a diving boat, but unfortunately it was broken when we were at the hotel. They also had SUPs, but only two were available (the others on repair). The mountain bikes were also on repair...
You really feel welcome at Qi Palawan. They have a lot of staff, many of them live in the neighbouring villages. There are new managers taking over in January 2020, a very nice French couple.

Three times our flight to Palawan was canceled as a result of the Tall volcano and we were unable to take up our booking. Matt kindly agreed to let us rebook without charge and his gesture was much appreciated. The hotel is in a remote location, natural and unspoilt. The bamboo casitas are large with a good sized bathroom and separate toilet. They have their own individual patios with chairs, table, sunbed and look straight on to the ocean. We enjoyed the food which was delicious and very well priced. Portions were generous. Unfortunatel we were not lucky with the weather but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The resort is located about an hour drive from El Nido with little around but what it has to offer on site. Situated at a shallow bay on a part of the island with a frequent high velocity on shore wind, it was established as a kite surfing destination. Since then, owners have changed and the resort currently doubles a a dive resort.
If you re not into either of these two disciplines you may seek it out for its remoteness or friendly staff. It should be noted that the beach is not great for swimming as it is very shallow, at low tide you can walk out more than 150 meters and there s no on site snorkeling.
Excursions to beaches and islands are arranged via the resort and always incl about 45min - 1hr drive each way.
Bungalows are clean and simple with nice shower facilities. We never had an power issues or no hot water. Beds come with mosquito netting so comfortable nights should be available also in the wet season.
Foods not bad and better than the other places we tried but Philippines is unlikely to be anyone s foodie destination.
As anywhere on Palawan, the beach and resort area is ripe with sandflies, courtesy not least by the many more or less domesticated dogs. Be careful to apply plenty of repellent, courtesy of the resort. The sand fly bites can seriously affect your stay in the itchiest way possible.
Overall , we recommend the resort and its friendly staff but visitors should be mindful of where it is and what it is specialized in. We could wish for healthier options for breakfast (just bran cereals or similar) and a better coffee. A board for sharing guest plans in the reception area would also be helpful in coordination between guests for rides and activities.

Dear Rune, Thanks for staying with us you and taking the time to share details of your experience. Thanks for recommending Qi Palawan and your nice words regarding our dedicated staff. We apologize for the inconvenience you have experienced with the sandflies as we do everything in our power to get rid of them: daily beach cleaning and regular treatment, complimentary natural repellent available in all rooms, stray dogs being chased. We are also exploring other options that came up from our emails exchange to eradicate them. Unfortunately, sandflies are everywhere in Palawan and our remoteness implies a prolific nature. Your feedback is valuable to us, as we strive to improve with each and every stay. Thanks for your suggestion regarding the breakfast, we reviewed the menu and are now offering additional options (smoothie bowl, fruit salad, etc.). Thank you once again for staying with us and we hope to have an opportunity to welcome you back to our resort in the future. All the best, The Management of Qi Palawan

Following the great reviews at Trip Avisor, we booked this hotel thinking we would stay at a 5 star luxurious accommodation, to find ourselves in a dark, humid and old hut with flimsy creaky floors no internet connection and mediocre service. The management is uninterested in their guests, the hotel staff ignore guests requests and so do the managers. Getting clean towels seem to be impossible here, and the 20 minute wait to place your breakfast order is the norm. We missed the boat trip we had paid for because it took them one hour to serve breakfast, we were told not to worry because it would only take 45 minutes to get to El Nido and it took more than one hour. They charged us 70 euros for the car and still refused to give us a refund. Very unfair and arrogant manager, I don't recommend staying at this place

We stayed at Qi for three nights at the end of a Philippine holiday. We wanted it to be a restful few days and it hit the right spot.
On arrival we were welcomed by Matt and given a full lowdown. Our first impressions were great.
The beach houses were private and well sized. If I was to say anything negative it would be they were quite dark and had little draw storage.
We had booked two private island hopping tours through our in country agent. At dinner on the first evening Matt advised us they had been cancelled but he could arrange replacements. A quick WhatsApp conversation with the travel agent proved that to be false so not sure what happened there.
The restaurant was nice with a small but varied menu and was similar prices to other hotel restaurants we ate in.
The beach was amazing. Over a mile of nearly pristine sand. On our last morning Matt took out some staff on a rubbish pick which we thought was great and would have helped had we known. The water was very shallow but I borrowed one of the hotel canoes and went for a nice paddle.
Local staff were all friendly and very helpful.
All in all a great quiet, out of the way, place to stay.

I stayed here with my partner in May and again in June.
It's been hard during lockdown but we felt at home in QI as soon as we arrived. Matt and Julie the managers made us feel so welcome and it felt like we already had made some new lovely friends. They are a breath of fresh air.
The resort itself is so beautiful and our cabin had everything. Big bed, air conditioning, fan, TV, WiFi and lovey bathroom and shower area. You go out of your door and are met with amazing nature, beach and swimming pool. This has been my favourite place on Palawan.
Julie does morning yoga sessions which I really enjoyed and Matt is ready and waiting to offer coffee and breakfast, or another staff member is there.
The food in the restaurant was so tastey and the cocktail options are brilliant, Matt is very passionate with food and drink and as a French person myself,I really appreciated this.
My only regret is not being able to stay longer, we will be back!
Thank you Matt and Julie and all staff for making our stay so enjoyable and for making the lockdown so much easier to handle.

+1
Qi is a nice, little resort outside of El Nido on the East Coast. The resort features 8 bungalows, directly at the beach. The management and the service is very polite and friendly - always tries to fulfill any wish a guest may have.
The resort, however, has seen better days already and is quite “aged” at this point in time. Everything is quite old - starting from the beds, throughout all interior available. Bathroom is nice and big though.
We have been very disappointed by the beach, as water is flat and you can’t really take a proper swim or see sunrises/ sets.
Food is also rather “okayish” and no restaurant nearby. In comparison to other Filipino restaurants also expensive.
All in all, we had a nice stay at the hotel, it’s very cozy with a good atmosphere in the evening. The hotel definitely needs some upgrades very soon, both on the resort, as well as on the Dinner menu

Dear Sven, Your honest feedback is crucial to us and we really appreciate you taking the time to leave a review. Thank you for your nice words regarding the management and the service! We are sorry to read that you found our resort “aged”. We will take your remarks into consideration as we already started refurbishing some cottages. We are sorry to read about your comments about our restaurant. We do try to offer a wide selection of choices for our guests from Vegetarian/Vegan food, Fish, Seafood, Meat, Spanish- and European-influence, as well as Filipino food. As for our set of prices, it is comparable to other establishments in El Nido. We hope you otherwise enjoyed the rest of your stay, All the best, The Management of Qi Palawan

QI is without doubt one of the most amazing places I've stayed throughout my travels.
The resort is beautiful with everything you could ever need and is only surpassed by the staff and amazing managers.
Matt and Julie are the friendliest, kindest and most generous people you could meet. They are professional but approachable and only want your stay to be as lovely as possible.
The cabin we stayed in was newly refurbished, with a king sized bed, air con, a good fan, tv, lovely bathroom and nice shower area. Fresh sheets and cold water. Not to mention a 10 metre walk to the swimming pool or the beautiful beach depending on how you feel.
The restaurant has great food, freshly produced. Matt is a great chef as are his staff and they prepare a fantastic menu. He is also a very good cocktail maker and has his own specially infused rum with various flavours to choose from, delicious and his passion shows in the quality of the food, drink and service.
There is a good pool table which we made good use of and a range of activities, even whilst we were in lockdown.
Julie is a very good yoga teacher and even offered me beginner sessions as I'm useless! She made it fun and relaxing and really made me want to get more into it.
I can't recommend this place enough, and am troubled by some recent reviews I've seen here, as I was staying there at the same time as some of these people and observed the true experience they had, which was no different to mine from discussions I had with them.
It's a shame some people seem to be two faced and happily take advantage of generosity with a smile on their face whilst then feeling the need to make up negativity out of greed and the need to try and soil the reputation of kind places that give them everything. Shame on them!
If I come back to Palawan, I will be staying here again and hope Matt and Julie are still there as I would very much enjoy spending some more time with them.
Bloody amazing.

travelling during the Pandemic: getting in to elnido from manila is now a bit different, you would need to have the ff: Negative Rt-PCR swab test taken 48hours before the flight(only LIO airport is open), confirmed hotel booking, travel itinerary and upload all of them in the elnido tourism website and wait for QR codes.
Qi was just the perfect place to unwind and relax after being locked down for a year and a half for us, we stayed for 8nights and loved every minute of it, the place was beautiful, quiet, and new for us as we have never been to that side of Elnido before, our room was nice and big, bed was comfy, outdoor shower was great, the pool was nice, the food was great! big menu selection, the staff were all very nice, polite, and professional, the boat tour from Qi going to darocotan island was definitely one of the highlights of our trip, the boat tour with their partner in town was also great! the land tour to Duli beach was one for the books, the wifi reception is fast! even on the beach area.
We had such a great time here and would love to come back just for some peace and quiet.

Food selection is great. Service is great. Rooms are great although ACUs often breakdown. Soaps are amazing. The area is your quiet place in paradise. The employees make it even move delightful. Sand flies are just annoying and their pool is not that clean.

Yes, they offer transfers but they are over priced. Go stay somewhere else, it's not as nice as it looks in the photos.
We do not have over water bungalows
No there is no fridge in the room, we are an eco resort and try the best we can to minimise electricity consumption (although we have 24/7 electricity available and air-con on every room).
No you are not supposed to bring your own snacks and alcohol, but no we are not going to search your bags. We make a significant effort in keeping our packaging down so we ask that you take your rubbish with you.
No you do not need to bring your own towels, we provide bath towels and beach towels. You can always ask us for extras if you need.
We are between San Fernando and Sibaltan. About 1 hour from El Nido proper and 45 minutes from Lio airport.
Yes we are in El Nido. We are 250km away from Puerto Princesa
