Fantastic hotel and the staff on reception were so friendly and yes they SMILED!! Happy to help with any information required and the location is just the best as so close to the square. The bedrooms were totally adequate and the bathrooms are huge. We was in room 5c so this was an upgraded room! The beds as previously mentioned by others could be better and bigger sheets but wouldn't at all put me off from coming back. The breakfast selection was fantastic and yes not your full English but I come away to get away from all the typical English stuff. Rooms cleaned daily and yes in the evening you could hear some noise but again nothing major and what do you expect with being so central. My advise to the hotel is that you advertise Poland Active tours as they are just incredible and offer the thermal pools trip and so much more. Having worked in travel for over 25 years, I can honestly say that this has been my best city break EVER! So easy to get around, food amazing, people amazing and so relaxed for a city. The polish are lovely and so hard working but some just need to work on their smiles more in some of the shops.. I understand they mean no harm and its their ways but as visitors we appreciate a warm welcome that's all. Everyone must visit Auschwitz to totally understand what happened and yes it broke me but its a must as we can never allow this to happen again. Thank you sooo much to all at the Hotel Jan and I am already looking at coming back again but with my children as they really want to vist the ski resorts also..

Please ensure this is passed on to your highest management as you all deserve so much credit. Well done everyone...

Pretty little hotel in an excellent location just off the main square. Very clean throughout and the staff are very friendly and helpful. The problems started with our room. We booked a standard room and whilst looking at the rooms on the website they all looked sizeable so presumed a standard would be big enough but we were wrong. After deciding to take a full size case as well as hand luggage we found we barely had enough room to move , we were allocated (5b) - it was very small. Then came the problem with the noise at the front of the hotel in the early hours with deliveries being made to nearby shops. At 5am i went downstairs feeling tired and frustrated to a very sympathetic receptionist. I asked to switch rooms but the hotel was fully booked. She was very kind and did hand me ear plugs which helped for the rest of the stay. If you are a light sleeper i highly recommend asking for a room at the back of the hotel. Breakfast was lovely and had a beautiful choice of cereals, fruits, eggs, sausages, meats , cheeses and even smoked salmon in a nice little conservatory setting. Overall i think i just hoped the room would have been slightly bigger and a little quieter so i would consider returning but id make sure i had a superior room at the back

Hotel Jan is a fabulous hotel, literally a 1 minute walk from all the great bars & restaurants in the market square, & close to taxis to explore further away. The whole hotel & rooms are really nice & are all modern & exceptionally clean. Our room (24) was an apartment room on the 4th floor at the rear of the hotel with a lovely large terrace which had flowers around it with a table & 4 chairs overlooking Krackow rooftops & church spires. We had great weather while we were there & the terrace got the sun all day & the sunset at night. The apartment was a great size with a comfy low double bed, lovely bathroom, wardrobes, table & chairs & mini fridge which was stocked up with water each day.
My parents had a delux room (15) on the 3rd floor overlooking the main street into the market square (great if you like people watching). It was another fabulous & spotless room with a low double & single bed & a massive modern bathroom you could have had a party in ..... Even though it was overlooking the main street, you couldn't hear any noise when the windows were shut.
Breakfast was plentiful each morning with tea, coffee, scrambled egg & varied sausage each day, selection of bread, meats, cheese, jams, chocolate spread fruit, waffles & crepes on different days. We had booked a trip to Auschwitz with an early 7.30am pick-up so would miss breakfast, & the hotel kindly provided us with a great packed lunch instead with croissants, butter, jam, chocolate spread, a boiled egg & 2 sliced sausage & cheese bread rolls & a bottle water. All of which was really nice kept you going for the day.
In all we couldn't fault this hotel at all & would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Krakow. The staff couldn't do enough for you, it was immaculate, great location, & can,t wait to return to Hotel Jan & see more of the fantastic city of Krakow.

The hotel Jan is perfect in every way . We stayed for 3 nights and were really impressed by its cleanliness , location and staff courtesy . We were welcomed by a cheery and kind receptionist who very efficiently organised our room on the first floor. A lift is provided to help with luggage. On entering our deluxe room we were most impressed. Spotlessly clean with a double and single bed . The bathroom was wonderful. Very large , beautifully tiled and clean with bath and separate power shower - very impressive. Breakfast was self service in the attached courtyard style restaurant and was lovely with a choice of hot and cold foods etc.
The hotel is literally a stones throw from the old town square so restaurants are plentiful . Below the hotel is a very unique bar with an Alcatraz theme. You can enjoy a drink in a cage with dismembered body parts !!
I thoroughly recommend this hotel

I'm writing this review with reluctance as it may encourage more people to stay at the Jan and then there won't be room for me!!
I guess it's a small hotel, about 27 rooms, but you know the saying "small but perfectly formed". I've stayed here a number of times as a 'mature' lady travelling alone but this time was accompanied by hubby who was very impressed. The staff are helpful and friendly. The hotel is immaculate and I did comment to hubby that over the years I've been staying there is no show of deterioration or need for redecoration etc so Hotel Jan is obviously doing something right. It's in an ideal situation just off the main square. Obviously rooms at the back are quieter than the front which overlooks a main street.
I've stayed in 3 other more expensive hotels in Krakow but Hotel Jan will always be my first choice, hopefully will be there next May.

Hotel Jan is beautifully situated right in the square, our room was at the front of the hotel and did not have any issues with noise! The staff were very helpful and friendly with supporting us getting out and about! There was a large variety for breakfast where again the staff were checking and refilling promptly. The rooms are small but this made them cosy, the only issue was that the top duvet was a bit small however there was a top blanket.

Great stay!

We stayed her with Family 8 in total 4 rooms. each room was exceptionally clean, though one was very small, probably worth paying the little extra for a superior room.
Hotel is supported by a 24hr reception and we were very impressed with the helpfulness & professionalism of all the staff we dealt with. We booked our trips via the hotel & again very organised with pickups from the hotel, so no time wasted, this is important when you have a group. Breakfast had a large choice with something for everyone and as mentioned in a few comments, the location is superb, straight of the main square. I would most definitely stay here again.

Stayed at Hotel for a long weekend. All staff were friendly and helpful, making our stay so comfortable. They also organised transfers to and from Cracow airport at a reasonable price.
Rooms were immaculate and bathrooms gleamingly clean and fresh.
Breakfast was a tasty experiance that we all looked forward to in anticipation. No one left the dining room feeling hungry, there being something for everyone.
I'm planning to return.

Just spent four days in this splendid little hotel bang in the middle of Krakow's beautiful old town. It was ideally located as a base for exploring the city; my room was comfortable and spotlessly clean, as was its en-suite; the hotel was very reasonably priced; the staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful and spoke excellent English, and the self-service breakfast (included in the rate) was generous and hugely varied. I was particularly touched, when I had to leave at the crack of dawn to catch an early flight to Spain, hours before they had started serving breakfast, that a generous lunch bag was provided for me instead at no extra charge. Can't recommend this little gem highly enough if you are planning a few days in Krakow.

We stayed as a group of 4 and 2. We had rooms on the 1st, 3rd and 4th floor.
We enjoyed our stay at Hotel Jan and found the rooms to be clean, comfortable and warm.
Breakfast was really good, it was self service with a great selection of various food. I feel there was something to satisfy everyone. However I would have liked to have had white bread for toast, but they only gave us brown.
The hotel is in a fantastic location just meters from the main Square and is situated in a pretty street with shops of all kinds nearby.
We found all the staff friendly and helpful.
We would definitely return to Hotel Jan as we would like to visit again one summer.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Krakow. We visited Zakopane in the mountains and took a trip to The Salt Mines and Auschwitz.

Hotel Jan has a lovely breakfast. Lots of good restaurant just walk a short way down each of the numerous streets leading off the market square to find cheaper restaurants serving Polish cuisine. There are also many restaurants on the market square.
