You love ...calm places? ...romantic sunsets? ...relaxing, calming down? ...cooling off in a beautiful pool? Then the perfect place is only minutes away from town proper of San Vicente!!! Our resort is located in Macatumbalen (meaning "The place with many chili" in the local dialect), which is a Sitio of the Barangay Poblacion of San Vicente. It`s only around 3 minutes with the motor bike from nearby town proper, which also offers a bus and van terminal, tourist information, local market and shops. The walking time is also just 15 minutes. The building started in spring 2013 with the water tower after fencing and leveling of the area, followed with the Five apartment construction which was crowned with the swimming pool. Most of the construction offers high German standard, like the electric installations, plumbing, carpentry, landscaping or designing. Since March 2014 the resort is finished to operate, although the enhancements may never end, as we constantly looking for further perfection following our vision. Since January 2015 the electricity is 24 hours and we can offer now also free WiFi for our guests. Our visions main drive is to ensure your stay will be one of the very best! Only when we achieve to see you happy, relaxed and satisfied, our main target is fulfilled. We would be happy to welcome you soon at our Sunset Beach Resort here on Palawan! Thelma & Robert(o)

We loved our stay at Sunset Beach Resort. Everything was very clean, beautiful and tranquil. Roberto himself greeted us an showed us our room when we arrived. He was also present the whole time during our stay if we needed something. We felt as if we were quest at their home.

Food and drinks were delicious and affordable.

Beach was very clean and well maintained. Water was warm. We enjoyed waking up early in the morning, walking barefoot on the empty beach and then had our fresh breakfast at the terrace which had immaculate views of the ocean. In the evenings we enjoyed drinks watching the beautiful sunset.

Roberto has motorbikes to rent for a affordable price. We rented one and followed a map he draw us to very beautiful places; san vicente village, beaches, beautiful forests and other.

We will definately return in the future and recommend this place for everybody visiting Palawan island. We enjoyed this place far more than El Nido!!

Palawan and San Vicente in particular was badly hit by Typhoon Odette in the beginning of the year. Initial photos that we've received were horrible.
So when we came here we were more than pleasantly surprised how nature together with people rebuilt this area. We came here after 4 years and this resort looks even more stunning then before. Roberto, the owner, really invested his time and money to renew the place during the pandemic lockdown of the Philippines. All five room are spotless, the AC is new and silent, the water pressure and electricity are in service 24/7 which is a luxury in this area of Palawan. There is also a gorgeous breakfast/dinner place and a bar with really affordable prices.
All the stuff goes beyond their way to please you and they are genuinely so friendly. Roberto went with us on two island hopping trips and he took us to two fisherman's villages to see the real local living. Two of his girl staff even showed us their home and introduced us to their family while Roberto brought some school books and pencils for the village kids which our two kids help distribute. It was quite a humbling experience for them and us adults too. They also prepared a delicious cake surprise for our friends birthday.
In conclusion if you are planning to visit Palawan we recommend you to make Sunset Beach Resort in San Vicente you base to explore this gorgeous island.

Roberto is a charming host, simple rooms but very nicely done. Menu also simple but good. We often bought fresh in the market and the girls cooked it for us. The area is remote but has lovely beaches. Bring plenty of cash - ATM is unpredictable. There are money changers in town. Roberto’s beach is cleaned daily although swimming is difficult as the bay is too shallow and has a lot of dry areas at low tide but spectacular sunsets. Really nice beaches for swimming and surfing are all a short tricycle ride away.
There are other places you can stay but you would be disappointed I think. Sunset beach is priced well and is the nicest place we saw - we had 8 nights and would have stayed longer if time allowed.

Room Tip: Bring baby oil/insect repellent - sandflies are on some of the beaches - not Roberto’s. I think...

This place is a real gem in the middle of Palawan Island. We were here in 2018 so on this year’s trip to the Philippines we just had to come back for a few days. They had quite an adventurous year prior to our visit with covid restrictions as well as typhoon Odette but being there, you really couldn’t tell that they were struggling just months before our visit. The owner of the place, Roberto took the tourist absence to good use and really improved the resort with additional building serving as isolation room, redesigning the main building on the beach with a small coffee shop like hanging area as well as an overall maintenance around the property and the rooms. Roberto and his staff are so nice and they really make an effort to make you feel like home and to take you to most amazing trips away from the tourist crowds. The food is delicious, there are plenty of choices and the prices are reasonable. We even had pizza night and it was one of the best pizzas I had in a while. Absolutely a must place to stay in while in Palawan.

Great location that gives you peace and quiet which will definitely give you the sleep quality. The rooms are well placed, and are really clean. The owner Roberto along with his lovely team have a very keen attention to details. Given we stay during the low season, we had the experience of having the place to ourselves. The breakfast was very filling and quite tasty.

The rooms have everything, TV, hot and cold shower, toilet bidet and everything one wil need with a fully stocked minibar.

When you plan your trip to Palawan you always think El Nido first. After spending a week in Palawan we are convinced that our strong recommendation would be to choose Sant Vincente as your base. Roberto, April and the team of Sunset Beach Resort is no doubt the key reason for this choice. This place has only 5 rooms, so you will feel like on a private island comparing to chaotic buzz of El Nido. Sunsets you will see here would be smth you won't forget for the rest of your life. For island hoping do both - the one from Saint Vincente and the one from El Nido ( Roberto will help you with both). You can rent a car from Roberto to go to El Nido. Take an early morning walk on the Long Beach, do go to 100 steps.
The food prepared by April ( Roberto's partner) is amazing and very reasonably priced (sizzling tuna and Mango float are must). We did do our own bbq as well ( bought fresh squid, fish and veggies at the market of Saint Vincente).
Transfer from Puerta Princessa Airport to Sunset Beach Resort is about 3 hours and cost 4500 pesos.

Enroute to a long vacation at nearby Bai-Bai Inn Resort at Long Beach, it has piqued my interest why Sunset Beach Resort is named as such. And indeed, it offers one of the most beautiful sunsets in San Vicente. Its owner German engineer, Roberto would quip that "The sun sets better in Sunset Beach."

Mouth-watering steaks and pastas are available for guests together with a wide range of choices for drinks. Surely all the right mix to enjoy a relaxing sunset on a picture-perfect vacation.

From the moment we arrived to a warm welcome from Roberto we felt like family! Communication with the hotel had been superb from the moment of booking and Roberto is a brilliant source of information whether you want an organised tour or just to potter around on your own. The rooms are modern and spotless - and everything works. Roberto and Thelma (and all their staff) work incredibly hard to look after everyone. It’s very sociable, great fun and totally relaxing. For food I’d highly recommend the sizzling plates and Thelma’s special risotto but it’s all really good! Thank you both for a fantastic 9 days - so glad we decided to spend the time being thoroughly spoilt by you!!

Roberto accommodated me on a special mission to visit my brother in San Vicente. He went above and beyond any expectation you could have of a resort owner. He and his wife run an incredible resort that is terrific value for money. First world accommodation in a tropical and relatively remote location.

A sparkling clean pool, well designed rooms and so many details are done so well. It's clear that building this resort was a labour of love and exceptional capability.

I had the pleasure of spending time with Roberto's two friends from Germany, Helmut and Calle. The three friends helped my brother get a special booking in the nearby clinic for a vaccine. They welcomed my brother at the resort to visit during the days and we spent many fun evenings playing poker and swapping stories.

It was an unforgettable start to my Philippines adventure and I'll always be grateful to Roberto.

Sunset Beach Resort is the best place to relax and enjoy in a calm paradise. The resort is cosy and beautiful, as well as well mentioned. Very clean room and amenities. Tropical garden with a nice pool. The german owner Roberto takes personally care of all guest and reads every wish from his guest eyes. The location is perfect for island excursions. This is the best place and end-location after a full Philippines tour trip. I will come soon again.
