We stayed 3 nights in the Estancia. Alfredo at the réception was the the nicest host we came across during our 2 week tour in Argentina. The rooms are large and in a quiet environment some 1.5 kms from the main road. The breakfast was however probably the lightest we had during our tour. They offer lunch packets at US$ 18 pp, but it is recommended to buy bread at the panaderia and make your own sandwiches.

Overall a good stay. The Manager, Alfredo is helpful and has his sense of humour of going about things in terms of helping the guests, which is great to lighten up matters, but can be a hit or miss.

What was Very Nice - good property, clean and supported by a courteous staff. Restaurant was great with some delicious food. Breakfast was good as well. Common room area especially the second floor offers a comfortable setting to relax and a great view as well. Manager was accessible to help us out with transportation arrangements when we were in town and needed to get back to the hotel. Manager did offer some tips and connects for things to do and see in El Chalten and El Calafate. Availability of parking for those with rental cars (most guest had a rental car, and we probably would get one for any future travel to El Chalten as the property is 3 km away from town)

What needs a bit more attention - heating/cooling in the room being functional can help. The advertisement in the Trip Advisor says Wifi available, but the reality is that it is only in the common area. That clarification should be provided on the site. Availability of tea/coffee in rooms, or in a common area will help, as there are guests who do need it.

Net-net, a good stay.

Estancia La Quinta in El Chalten area is a beautiful and peaceful place, with very nice rooms, everything is very clean. Food is delicious and owners are very kind. Beautiful nature all around hotel.
The place is 2 km away from the hustling and bustling city of Chalten, with a beautiful garden and a breathtaking view od the landscape from the living room in the first floor. If you need transport to/from Chalten, owners accommodate it.
We stayed there 5 days, enjoyed the breakfast with home made yogurt, calafate jam etc., relaxed atmosphere after we returned from treks, and tasteful dinners.
I would highly recommend.

Nicely located hotel 5 km from El Chalten with nice rooms, Friendly helpful host and staff. But regularly no towels in the room. There's not always cleaning. Dirty towels are hung up again before use. Breakfast is basic / standard without orange juice. No wifi in the room. The food in the restaurant is very expensive. The 1.5 km road to it is extremely bad. The worst road of our entire trip.

Disappointed with the hotel. The decor is very tired, there were holes in the carpet in our room and the ceiling had been patched with plastic. The choice of breakfast was very limited and the food in the restaurant mediocre.
The location was lovely and the owner was helpful.

Unfortunately, the reality of this accommodation hardly corresponded to the description.
Wi-Fi had it only in the general area, not in the rooms. The connection was often so bad that no reasonable WhatsApp phone call was possible

The promised air conditioning consisted of a radiator, which was only switched on for a few hours at 18h00 in the evening. Unless they asked to stop earlier.

The water in the bathroom (shower, bath, etc.) was really brown, but at least warm to hot.

Breakfast was a barren buffet without fresh fruit. Something warm (eggs or something) could not be ordered because there is no kitchen in the same building.

The view from the breakfast room, through dirty windows, offered a (probably some time ago) started construction site, during which there are now newer, beautiful hotels in the village of El Chalten with a view of the unique mountain backdrop.

The owner, Alfredo, is the sweetest! He will go out of his way to make your stay better. On our first night here, he noted the spectacular view we'd get of the stars and milky way outside of the inn and even accompanied us to point out the various constellations in the sky. The rooms are pretty basic and since the inn is located in a remote area - it will take a while to walk into the village - ideal to have a car. But the remoteness will offer serenity and quietness, perfect for winding down after a long day's hike. Do note that the power is turned off from midnight until about 5am/6am every night so make sure you get your charges in earlier in the evening.

I have known Estancia La Quinta since 1983, when there was no Chalten settlement. Staying in the current hotel is a wonderful experience enjoying peace, beautiful views, excellent food and extremely friendly staff led by Patricia and Alfredo. It is better to rent a car in Calafat, because Chalten is 2 to 3 km away. I recommend Estancia La Quinta!

We (2 adults and 2 kids) booked a 3 nights staying at Estancia La Quinta, trough an Agency own by a dear friend, from the 25 to 28 Jan 16. It was a whole journey well planned in advance from Pto Montt to Pta Arenas 3 weeks in total. At our arrival at Pto Montt in Chile, our doughter suffer a very seriouse health problem. We need to take her to the Hospital and wait several days in Pto Montt. Of course we had to cancell all booking previously made and the whole Trip. We started to send email with all certificate from Chilenean Doctors and Clinic of Pto Montt and Pto Varas. We receive 100% refund from every Hotel, also some that received the cancellation just 48 hs before our arrival. Everybody has really helped us! Everybody except el Senor Alfredo de Estancia LA Quinta. Our Agency send the cancellation email on the 18 of January. They didn't reply, so they called them and the reply was 100% penality for the 3 nights. They didn't accept even the idea to refund the breakfast !!! since for sure we were not having it. Plus we discovered that they do not have any Penality politic or Refund politic published. We took a look to their rates but nothing is written about cancellation penality. I repeat for a cancellation of 3 nights staying made 7 days before, on a very high season period, we receive 100% penality so we lost Usd 600. In some cases maybe this is fair, but I underline our last minute emergency situation and the fact that they didn't accept to refund at least the servcies we were not using. In the end I do not care at all about the Usd 600, but yes I do want to inform you about their behaviour. It is plenty of places to choose, also in El Chalten. We always consider foundamental the relation with the owner of a place. I hope you will well consider our experience before booking this place.

Dont be put off by the one or two bad reviews. El Chaltan is an amazing place -- a remote valley with a tiny frontier town. There is no cell service in the whole town, no chain stores, no chain restaurants. The difference between El Chaltan and Calafate are staggering and I will take El Chaltan every time. La Quinta is a real estancia still owned and operated by one of the oldest families in the area. The hotel itself is built into the frames of the old sheep sheering sheds. Its lovely and remote and you book it knowing you are two km from town. You could walk it, but you can usually get a transfer or a ride from your hosts on the way in and pay for a taxi on the way back (they will give you the number and any store/restaurant in town will call for you). The payback is watching the cows and horses graze as you eat breakfast and the enjoying the countryside instead of the dusty cluttered town. yes,the place was created as a hotel in the 80s and its well done, clean but the style is a bit dated. But you can live with red rugs when you have the mountains at your feet and breakfast includes preserves made at the estancia with local strawberries. They really care about visitors and go the extra mile -- A gluten intolerant visitor was surprised by special bread from one member of the staff while we were there. We also we thrilled to participate in a mate ceremony after touring the estancia. This is a lovely real working estancia and everyone is welcoming and friendly. They will do their best to make your stay enjoyable and i highly recommend it! In town try La Ceverceria and La Tapera -- the best food in town. For hiking, skip the box lunch and hit a bakery in town before heading to the trails -- Que Rica (2nd best) or the place next to Seyenra on Lago del Desierto (amazzzzzzing). It is very worthwhile to book four days five nights and plan laguna de los tres for the best weather day. Taxi to the north side of the park for a one-way hike back to Chaltan via LDLT is a great way to do this hike -- you will have the trails to yourself until the half way point and the terrain is more varied in the north part of the park. Dont skip the Viedma glacier even if you are doing Big Ice in Calafate -- its better here though bigger there. have a great visit!!!!

You can order a bag lunch to take with you which includes a sandwich, a cereal bar, a hard boiled egg, an apple, a bottle f water and some hard candies. I can't remember the price, but it was reasonable. There are also shops in town and Che Empanadas.
