It is the ideal place to relax, recharge your batteries and discover the culture and nature of Morocco. I highly recommend Kasbah Itran to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable experience.

Our stay was wonderful. The staff went above and beyond to make our Christmas memorable. The view was spectacular and we loved that there were many terraces up and down the property which made it feel intimate and cozy. The food was delicious as well. The rooms aren't super luxe but are interesting, have authentic charm, are clean, and we were warm as well. Our rooms had small private balconies, each with a great view. We really have nothing bad to say about our experience and would definitely go back and also recommend.

Beautiful kasbah with stunning views. The dinner and the breakfast was amazing. And all this for a good price. Possibility to book excursions to the rose valley with the local guide Mohammed (to view the rose gardens, beautiful nature and a berber village).

This kasbah has an amazing location with great views of local ruins and surrounding oasis. The rooms are all different with quite unusual arrangements. Our room was unfortunately quite small and not very clean. There was hot water in the shower if you waited long enough. The food was fine and the terraces and balconies were fantastic and set up well for meals al fresco. The internet was available only in the lobby unless you were very, very lucky.
In spite of the non-perfect room that I had, I would highly recommend this place because it is so unusual. You have to be willing to go out of your comfort zone a bit but it is worth it! I got the sense that COVID had really devastated their business and they were just getting back into the swing of things.

We stayed one night at Kasbah Itran on our way to the desert and it was just amazing. The staff was very friendly. Many thanks to Madani, who made us feel like home. He is the reason we are definitely coming back. The rooms were spacious and clean with small private balconies, each with a stunning view. The food was delicious and traditional!!! Highly recommend this place for everyone who loves to stay in authentic Kasbah

Yesterday I went to Kasbat Itran for its beautiful view. But infortuntly my liitle aunt of 17 years old and I (18 yo) were victim of an verbal sexual harrasment and intimidation by a group of boys ( visitors) , which turned out to a physical fight . And The responsable did not call the police . So my aunt was terffied ,she went into a respiration crise infront of his eyes , and he ordered to his collegue to kick her out using a really bad word.
So today , my family and I went to he kasbah to ask for clarifications so he said that he will not receive us .
Saying that we are the source of the problem because #respectful# girls do not get out of their houses after sun set 🙂. Instead of apologizing .
So I can understand that:
## If we are girls we can’t be safe if we go to the Kasbah after sun set #.

In December 2013, we stayed in a small room on the ground floor. The room was heated by a fireplace lit by the staff using burning coals from the larger fireplace in the hall. In the night, my girlfriend felt ill and we both had trouble breathing. We turned out to be suffering from carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the badly ventilated chimney.
The proprietor, though trying to help, did not realize the considerable danger he put us in. In fact, after we explained the situation to him, he misled us on several occasions. Therefore I am not confident that he will fix the defects which could easily have been lethal if we hadn't been lucky enough to wake up during the night.
I have focused on the safety problems; I see no objections to Kasbah Itran otherwise. You're probably safe in the warmer months.
WARNING: if you choose to stay at the Kasbah Itran during the winter, do not allow the fireplace to be lit in your rooms while you're sleeping.

We stayed one night as part of a desert tour. As many reviews have said, the inn is beautifully located, charmingly quirky and romantic: very much a memorable Morocco experience. Our room was traditionally decorated with heavy Berber rugs and very dimly lit, so we were unable to see what was lurking in our mattress but realized in the morning when my husband and I woke up with what we thought were a few mosquito bites. These developed over the next two days into huge, blistering welts over our necks, shoulders and legs in the common patterns of bedbugs. Infernally itchy and disfiguring - we still have marks and it was an uncomfortable start that took the edge off what would otherwise have been a pleasant stop over.

My partner and I did a 12 days' road trip through Morocco. Thanks to Tripadvisor, we stayed at wonderful Riads and Kasbahs. Kasbah Itran however is by far our favorite: magnificent views over the valley; friendly, welcoming staff, good food, after-dinner entertainment and the super cozy terraces for awesome chillin'... We were actually very sad that we only stayed 2 nights. The first night, we were given a small, basic but very comfy room with shared bathroom (which is spacious and clean so no problem at all). The second night, we moved to a big, beautiful and romantic room at the other end of the building... Can't really describe it, it just took our breath away!!! Pictures to follow later :-)
We also decided to do a 1-day trekking through the gorges/vallee des roses but were quite last-minute about it. But no problem for the guys, they did some late night phone calls and the next morning, we were ready to go. I really want to thank them again for arranging this for us as it was a trip never to forget...

Lured by all the good reviews, a love for this region, and a deep set faith in Moroccan hospitality (everywhere else we have ever stayed at in Morocco has well exceeded expectations), our expectations could not have been more off target. This was the only place we stayed in where we were met with a smirk and immediate denial that we had a reservation. Once one of the managers had checked his computer, he conceded that we did have a reservation, but only, eyeing our kids derisively "for two people", which set our kids off into panic. I later showed him the email chain between me and the person who deals with Kasbah Itran's email comms (incidentally who is based in Spain and has no discernible footprint in Morocco) and it was only then that the staff conceded we weren't at fault.
We were then showed the room we had booked - a double bed in a traditionally built Berber building with kitsch covering every shelf, old plastic food wrappers littering the floor, a cm's worth of dust on everything, a lock that didn't work (when I told one of the managers the look to our room didn't work he was incredulous and insisted on coming to test it with me, before smirking embarrassedly and just walking away). We were offered tea on countless occasions which never actually came (whether we wanted tea seemed to be the question asked to appease us), played live music right outside our room til 10pm with no option not to participate, or get an early night (that wouldn't have been possible). At the end of it all, we were charged EUR 40 for a night (EUR 10 each - despite having to put our kids on the floor to sleep) and trust me, that buys you luxury in this part (or most parts) of Morocco. The price was completely off kilt.
So, why the rave reviews? A few things set us apart from the other guests at Kasbah Itran, none of whom admittedly were either friendly or very happy looking.
1) we started out speaking Arabic to the staff. While they later answered our issues and complaints in Arabic - demonstrating they could speak it - they initially ignored us and spoke back in French. Just about understandable given that I look English, but not helpful or logical to insist on speaking to my Syrian husband who doesn't speak French in French when they could easily have used Arabic. This seemed to set us off to the wrong start and wasn't anything we encountered anywhere else in Morocco, including in the AMAZING rival hotel just up the road (Kasbah Asafer) which we escaped to after a terrible night in Kasbah Itran.
2) We were independent travellers. All the other guests were on tours.
3) We had kids. Admittedly there was another family with kids there, but I am guessing our reception would have been very different if we looked like we were up for the adhoc disco that popped up after the managers (and their staff who seemed extremely over worked) played tabla outside our room for most of the night. It was definitely the sort of place where Western women who shake their hips are the preferred guests, and in marked contrast to the other hotels around, there were no female employees at the hotel at all.
All in all, I would emphatically recommend you stay somewhere else - our problems here were unique to this hotel, and nothing to do with the usual grumblings of tourists not familiar with "the way things are done" in this part of Morocco. Everywhere else in this region was much better value, clean, with tasty cooking (the cooking at Itran was rushed, inauthentic and tasted more like English school dinners than Moroccan cuisine).
