This place is very big and homey. There are 3 rooms and there are also beds in the living room. Ideal for big groups. But I was alone when I stayed here. But it doesnt matter as it feels safe in Calayan especially if you have Mommy Tess as your host. I definitely recommend this place.
When coming to Calayan Island the options for accommodation are limited. There are no hotels here. But one very good option is TPS Homestay, owned by Mam Tessie. The homestay is located at J.P Rizal Street not far from the pier. Just walking distance. Her helping hands are Medy and Arlene. Medy can assist you as your tour guide and driver around the island. We paid total 500 PHP for going around with Medy. The gasoline was included. With Arlene you can arrange so she will cook all your meals under your stay at an additional cost of course. There are some sari sari stores around where you can buy your own food and use the kitchen at no extra cost. Since we were here under low season we were the only guests here at the homestay. We were very well accommodated and well taken care of. It almost felt like our home. The electricity was limited here. There was only electricity for 5 hours in the evening from 5 to 10 PM. Beware also about the cellphone coverage and the access to internet can be sporadic. Hey! This is a remote island out in the middle of the sea after all.…
really good place. It's Php 250 per night per person (food is not included). Clean, well ventilated and the owner Mommy Tessie (0929 837 5737) is very hospitable. She gave recommendations on places to visit in Calayan and activities to try. She also arranges lampitaw going ang leaving Calayan island. Don't forget to try TPS Banayuyu wine it really tastes good.
In terms of hospitality, nothing beats Tita Tessie. She really knows how to take care and entertain her guests. She arranged most of our needs from the lampitaw to/from mainland, tricycle contact, recommending Kuya Medi (her nephew) for our tour and choosing our caterer. She let us taste her homemade Banayuyu (and the fruit itself) and Mango wine for free over her funny stories. She invited us over at her house, introduced us to her son, and entrusted her homestay to our group. She's simply the best host I ever encountered! Girls' dorm room has its own restroom. Boys can use shared toilet and shower at the back of the house. There are extension cords provided. Beds are very basic and same with the blanket. Water runs okay and available throughout day and night. Electricity runs from 12nn to 12mn only.…
