The owner is what makes staying at the Bridgewaters Inn so great. They go out of their way to make you feel like you are visiting family, instead of being away from home. We booked 2 rooms for work purposes. Rooms are spacious, clean and comfortable. The added bonus was the owners friendly dog coming to visit each morning to play! Thank you Rob!!

Don’t judge by the outside if sign still broken from earlier storms! The owner Rob is lovely and has been waiting several weeks for the sign to be fixed. Rob turned on the AC before our arrival to cool the room down on a hot, humid day.
The affordable rooms are very nice with comfortable beds. Mine had lots of shelves. Nice to have a kettle which seems lacking many places these days. Lots of soft towels and a great shower!
The house to the left acts as the office. Ring the bell there if Rob doesn’t notice your arrival. Exceeded our expectations. Would stay there again.
Check out Nick’s Restaurant in nearby Prescott for good home-cooked meals -Greek, Italian and Canadian.

A very nice and comfortable little motel. We were driving to visit family for Christmas and got caught in some freezing rain. We found this motel, called the owner and said we were 30 min away. He warmed up our rooms and made sure everything was ready for our arrival.

We were traveling on the weekend to hockey games in Montreal and Smiths Falls. Being tired of paying the high price in Montreal for hotel + parking we decided to spend Sat night somewhere in between the two points. Cornwall and Smiths Falls were almost as expensive as Montreal, and the budget hotel in Brockville had some pretty unappealing reviews. So we decided to stay at the Bridgewaters Inn in Johnstown and were very glad that we did.

Location is great it's only a couple of km off of the 401, near the exit to 416 (Ottawa), down by the St Lawrence near the bridge to the US.

The new owners were very friendly and helpful, and are definitely making an effort to fix the place up. We were able to check in early, on our way to Montreal, without any issues. We were given our choice of 2 rooms, and chose the more modern decor, although both rooms were very clean and both looked recently painted. Loved the decor in our room, very bright and cheerful - seemed like staying at a friends house and not a formal hotel room. Our room had a comfortable queen bed, 2 easy chairs (also comfortable), small fridge, microwave and kettle. Bathroom was small and only had a shower, which wasn't an issue for us, but may be for some.
Only thing missing would be a couple of larger glasses, as they only provided 2 small cappucino cups. Also it took us a little while to discover that the ceiling light/fan was controlled by the dial on the wall.

As mentioned the location is very close to the 401, but if you have the time take the drive down CR 2 along the river, through Prescott and Maitland, the countryside is gorgeous.

We would definitely stay here again

I stayed here with my 11-year-old son in July during a cross-country trip. The motel is great. Everything is remodeled and the owners make a big effort to be helpful and are very friendly. It is also one of those nice motels where you park right outside of your door so you do not have to carry things a long way. The location was perfect and it is less than an hour from Ottawa so I would have loved to have stayed another night and driven up there. The motel is right on the St. Lawrence River so it has a great view. We were driving between Montreal and Toronto so it was also perfectly located between those two places. Plus, they had cappuccino in the rooms which for me was a nice treat because nobody in the world would believe how awful some of the coffee is at some of the chain motels that we stayed at during this trip!

I had booked this resort through booking.com and followed up with a telephone conversation with the owner concerning July 3 & 4, 2018. When I arrived the entire building was under renovation with workmen on the property, doors to units wide open, and obviously unable to accept guests. I could not believe that the owner had not advised me of the situation when we spoke on the phone. In person, he was friendly and accepted my comment that we would not stay there. Accommodation in the Prescott area is very limited and I was left to find something immediately - which I was able to do - fortunately. Not a good experience.

We found Bridgewaters on TripAdvisor as we were nearing the end of a long road trip. I called late in the evening and Rob, the owner, said he'd have everything ready for our arrival. In fact, he greeted us in the driveway near midnight and had gone into the room to start the A/C unit prior to our arrival on this blistering hot day. The building is old, but the room was completely renovated and welcoming and SUPER clean. The bed was perfect. In the morning, Rob greeted us outside again and a long, friendly and enlightening discussion ensued. Rob was born to be an Innkeeper and I would much prefer to stay a small family run place like this than any of the chain hotels/motels along the 401 which are always a crap-shoot for comfort and a decent sleep.

Very accommodating pleasant owners, who make an effort to make you welcome. The rooms are small but nice, and clean, some with microwaves some with fridge and coffee maker. I found the room a little cool for my liking ( temps were very cold outside ) but the bed was very comfortable and lots of hot water.
The water is not nice to drink though - bring your own ! The Wifi was weak in my room - ok for email but not much else.
And if travelling with dogs - they are welcome but there is a fee and no where to let them run off leash. Lovely view of the bridge across the St Lawrence river from the front of the motel.

Very clean, was definitely expecting worse since it is a motel, but exceeded my expectations on cleanliness and hospitality. The owner is super nice and it's a great stay for a low price. I would definitely stay here again if I was ever in the area, and I would definitely recommend this. I was coming in late so the owner turned on the heat, lights and TV for me which was very welcoming on a cold late night.
