Prior to our vacation in Boracay, as usual, I did my research on accommodations. Since I would come with my family, I have decided to opt for something where we would be allowed to cook.

I saw good reviews about Sheridan so I decided to take it. The staff was very nice and really accommodating.

The room looked clean when we entered but we could immediately feel (and smell) the dust. Seemed like our villa had not been used for few days. I felt my throat started to itch but since we arrived late night, I decided to be patient and forced myself to sleep.

Kitchen equipment had to be requested also. These items were not readily available. However, the staff immediately provided the items once we requested.

The place is recommended for families, especially for those travelling with children who are naturally picky and would only eat fried chicken like my nephews and nieces.

We checked in on the Sunday evening after a long trip to het to the island, and found that although it looked great on the internet, the reality was quite different.

While the external appearance was quite satisfactory, the interior left a lot to be desired. We walked inside and found that our fridge was not working, and we had food items to be refrigerated straight away. The bathroom light was out so the bathroom was dark, and the aircon in the bedroom was not working properly. The sofa was wrecked and needed replacement (you almost fell through it), the stove had 2 burners but only one was in working order, the cooker hood light didn't work, there was cutlery only for 3 people even thought we had booked for a party of 5, the showers barely worked, ... you get the idea. For the price we paid (and yes this was peak period), we expected a lot better than this.

Looking on the bright side, the beach was its usual beautiful self, we were provided with free breakfast, and the staff were friendly and helpful and fixed the problems when they were pointed out. The beds were comfortable, and surprisingly large. The place was very safe.

We stayed in two different locations during our 7 nights in Boracay. The first time we stayed away from the white beach area and for the last few nights we stayed here at Sheridan Villas at Station 3. Station 3 is definitely a more laid back and quiet area compared to Stations 1 and 2. The accommodation is cheaper and it has a more backpacker, relaxed type feel to it. We stayed in a Villa with a bedroom upstairs with two double beds and a kitchen and lounge area downstairs. This was perfect for us as we were travelling with kids. It also had a small table outside and an area to dry clothes.

Other members of our party stayed in a junior villa which had a double bed and lounge area with bar fridge, but no cooking facilities or outdoor seating.

Breakfast is included in the rate however it can't be reviewed as our 08:00 requested breakfast delivery still hadn't arrived by 08:30 so we cancelled it. We then chose to get breakfast at cafes close-by.

The room was not serviced during our stay.

PROS
• Friendly staff, we had no trouble with our transfers and no request was too much trouble (I’m not sure why the previous reviewer had a problem as we didn’t. The office was usually manned between 8:00 - 18:00 and this was over the New Year period).
• 1-2 minutes walk to the beach.

CONS
• Room did smell a little musty, but it was clean.
• A kettle for tea/coffee is not provided

We booked two rooms for three nights during the last week of Jan 2020 via booking.com. Because it was our first trip to Boracay, we were not sure about airport pick-up logistics. We checked the google map. It seemed that the Caticlan airport and the hotel are located at the different island. So we tried to send message to the hotel to check out the airport pick-up a few times via booking.com. No reply. We called the hotel a few times. No one picked up the phone ever! We wonder whether the hotel really existed! Because we were very unhappy about the hotel service, we decided to cancel the booking and requested to waive the cancellation fee. Again never heard from either booking.com or the hotel. It was a very terrible experience! I don’t expect we would receive any service if we stayed there!

I felt cheated and tricked! I spent about 22 thousand Pesos for a two nights stay accommodation that i thought was a 5 star hotel. I was convinced by a travel agent (my aunt's travel agent) that it is located either at station 1 or station 2. I was also told that the accommodation comes with 2 bedrooms with breakfast worth 600 pesos per person and that we will only have to add a few hundred pesos per child. Also, the package included pick up and drop off from and to the airport. I imagined a 5 star accommodation situated in between station 1 and 2, so i was more than willing to pay that much. However when we arrived, I was feeling confused after walking 10 to 15minutes to the hotel. I didn't think an expensive hotel would be that far. The neighbouring surrounding didn't look like the boracay i imagined. Upon arrival i asked where we were. I was told by the receptionist that we were in station three. I got even more confused cause it was not the hotel advertised to me. The receptionist told me a complete different story. I quickly called the travel agent who arranged our accommodation. Since it was our first time in Boracay, there were a lot of things i didn't know about the place. When I told my agent that there was some kinda of a mix up that we were brought in Station 3, she quickly changed her tone of voice and pretended as if she didnt know anything and told me to direct my concerns to the hotel admin manager in Manila. I attempted to speak to the manager but she refused to speak to me. After hours of trying to get my money back, the management of the hotel was unwilling to return even at least half of what i paid. They talked about policies which were never presented to me at the beginning. No matter how much i fought for a refund there was nothing i can do because they already have my payment and signature. Then adding insult to injury, the distance to everywhere else was a long way away. Imagine walking for hours to get a decent meal. It was terrible! I didn't go to boracay to lose weight, I was there to enjoy the place and not have all the trouble to find a good restaurant. Walking for the first time along the beach to find a decent inexpensive restaurant, I realized that the hotel must be so far away that even after 30 minutes, we couldn't even find a good restaurant. At this point, I thought the hotel must be right at the end of station 3. I asked other hotels or people around if they knew of Sheridan Villa Hotel. It's funny because a lot of people havent even heard of the hotel not even the locals. So here at the end of first day, i found that the hotel was indeed right at the end of station 3 were all local residents from angol live.Dragging two kids to walk so far did not help the situation at all. At the end of first day, I felt frustrated and annoyed. I wanted to move somewhere convenient for us but we were stucked in that place. I said to myself i will never stay in this hotel again. Never ever again. Firstly, there was only one room where we all squeezed in together. The expensive breakfast they offered was nowhere close to 600 pesos per person. It was not even enough for us. The breakfast arrived late that i always have to asked for it. It was as if I had to wake them up first so they can cook our breakfast. The bathroom stinks with pee. Molds in their bathroom and kitchenette. It was disgusting. They have nice furnishing but not good enough for the amount i paid. Yes the villas look nice from the outside but so does everything else in Boracay. The fact that it is at the very end of station 3, its unfair that i was charged so much for something that is only worth $1500 pesos and deceived to staying there. If i had accessed to the internet before committing to this hotel, I don't think I would have picked this hotel at all. I also found that there were a few other guests who thought that the hotel was at the high end of boracay. This is a warning to international travellers. DO NOT STAY IN THIS HOTEL. There are a lot of nice affordable hotels in Station 1 & 2 or even at the boundary of station 2 and 3.

offers apartment type of accommodations good for a number of guests. Stove, ref and other kitchen utensils are provided so we just bought food from the market and we kooked viands for our bfast, lunch and dinner. Cable TV is also available, and whole unit is air-conditioned.

1-2 miute walk away from the beach(station 3-calm, less people and establishments, less green algae)

20-minute walk away from station 1. But the long walk was so worh it.

I had the good fortune of getting it right all this while when it comes to booking accommodation online, but the lucky streak ended here at Sheridan Villas in Boracay. It has a nice location, near the tail end of Station 3, and a short walk to the beach, as with most of the properties along the beach stretch, and seemed to have garnered decent reviews. But perhaps the management has changed, or have become complacent. I don't think it is what it used to be anymore. This is possibly the first time I am actually writing a bad review of a hotel I've visited, but justice has to be done, so here it goes. My disappointment lies with three things.
(a) Why is it so poorly maintained? When I checked into the room, the furnishing is old and the room reeks of a musky smell. There was no wardrobe, and the air conditioner wasn't working. When I switched on the lights to inspect the bathroom, I saw an adult cockroach scampering across the toilet floor.
(b) Where are the supposed friendly and "accommodating" staff? Have they all packed their bags and left for better work opportunities elsewhere? I arrived to an unmanned reception counter, and an elderly gentleman (who I suspect speaks no English, and is probably the housekeeper) had to be brought in by the kinder security guard. Even an email I sent days before asking for an arrangement of airport transfers was only replied after I had left the accommodation (I'll be happy to show you the email correspondences, if anyone is interested)
(c) (This part gets me the most) Unscrupulous practices. Upon my encounter with our cockroach friend, and realising that the room is very much not like what was shown on the online photos, nor claimed in the stellar past reviews, I had indicated that I wanted to cancel my stay with Sheridan Villas, even volunteering to forfeit the deposit that I had paid few weeks before. I moved to a property a few metres up the beach (please see below later). Things were fine, had a great stay at Boracay - beautiful beaches, lovely people - but few days later, I was told that Sheridan was charging a no-show fee: the full rate for the three nights I had reserved. Even with my claim to the agent (thanks so much for nothing, DirectWithHotels) that I had "showed" up and cancelled my reservations with them, they insisted that I hadn't, and that I am subjected to the policies. I replicate the policies in the DirectWithHotels's booking form here:
CANCELLATION POLICY: No additional charge if you cancel 7 Days or more before your arrival date. For cancellations less than 7 Days before the arrival date, the cost of the first night will apply. NO-SHOW POLICY: Guests who do not arrive within 24 hours of check-in date and time of the hotel will be charged the full amount of the reservation.
So the question is: now where did I go wrong?

Anyway, I had already been charged by the agent (DirectWithHotels) and the property (Sheridan Villas) the full amount of near to USD200, for services that I did not use, and for services that I had indicated clearly to the ground staff that I did not want to use, against my consent and protest. I will have to take this as a lesson learnt, but I think future travellers and service buyers should wary. This will not my last time to Boracay, but it will be last time I am making a booking with AsiaTravel/DirectWithHotels or the Sheridan Villas. Perhaps Sheridan Villas had a Golden Age, but I'm sorry to say that I think it's way passed now.

Sheridan Villas is a place i would think of when visiting Boracay. With its cheap rates and room that can accommodate up to 10-12 people (with extra beds), air conditioned all throughout, and spacious rooms, i couldn't ask for anything more in an accommodation.

I stayed here almost every summer or anytime of the year we visited Boracay. I must say that this place is really safe and clean. The staffs are very hospitable and friendly. There had been great improvement in the service and facilities since the first time we stayed here. This a very homey place. This is where ill be staying in every time I am in Boracay. No where else.

It is expensive to go Boracay especially on peak season. Hotels and resorts rate are getting high. Imagine if you are 8 and the room costs 1,800 and up good for 2 pax only, how much will it cost?
This place is very affordable and complete in facilities. It’s like a real house with free breakfast served daily. This Villa is beautiful and clean. The place is safe and well lighted.
