After one week at Sulu Plaza, we loved it enough to sign up for another week. We stayed in one of the suites so that we could have our own kitchen. The location, right on the sand, was fantastic. I barely wore shoes the entire time we were there. Also, it's kind of on the edge of the busiest part of white beach, not the loudest and not the quietest. We liked it for that balance. But the best part was the staff, so helpful and accommodating. I would describe it as modest but adequate and very clean. And, if there's something you want or need, just ask the staff and they'll get it for you if they can.

We spent 15 days on this paradie island and the day we decide to come back, I'll book the very same apartment in the very same hotel. Don't get me wrong though, it's not a Hyatt or something but in this price range there is no better choice. The apartment is big, with 2 TV sets, kitchen, wonderful spacious veranda and another veranda almost directly on the beach, every evening we watched sunrises and then listened to the music without even going out (or we would done that if only the beach wouldn't been so great). There is a korean diving school in the same building, it's close to the main street (well, it's only street there). The staff is smiling (although the owner, of suiss origin seemed somehaw sad all the time), very helpful, I think it's owner's filipino family, our kids got along with his son. The hotel is situated vis a vis boat station so to stratch legs on this wonderful beach you have to walk a little bit, for, well some 30 secs :). Overall, we were delighted, we didn't like it's thai restaurant though so after 2 or 3 meals, we decided to avoid it but that's all, after all, you have many places to eat along the beach both ways.
Hope it's helpfull

23 &24 Dec 2010..Stayed at the Sulu Plaza resort where the host, Wally and his family gave excellent service .
This resort is at boat station 3 away from the noise of the action end of the beach .though not the swankest roomI have ever stayed in it was clean functional and very reasonably priced .I had heard some bad reports about Boracay being a dirty beach but there is now a ban on smoking on the beach front.and this problem has been eliminated .My partner Vivian and I did lots of walking ,and swimming in the Chrystal clear waters and Wally arranged a sailing trip aboard the"LOVE SONG" the skipper Noynoy and his trusty crew Jose ,gave us a wonderful sail to the crystal caves nearby . only wish we had been able to stay longer .

I went to the Thai Restaurant at the Sulu Plaza after getting a recommendation from a friend for some authentic Thai food. When I arrived, the five ladies seated at the back seemed more interested in having a tooth pulled than getting up and serving me! However, I was eventually seated, and the restaurant is located right on the beach in station 3 with a beautiful view of the beach. The menu included most of the usual, & i ordered chicken with chilli jam & vegetables. What i got was chicken & cashew nut, with vegetables and curry powder! It was okay and I ate it as I was hungry, but Chilli jam & Curry powder are two very different taste plates, and as such I was very disappointed as this was not even close to authentic Thai, or in fact what I ordered!

I stayed here for 6 nights.

The location is good, nice and quiet enough. There's a bar and a thai food restaurant in the lobby.

The rooms aren't great. No fridge, they changed our sheets almost everyday. The bathroom was always dirty and there was mold. We encountered multiple cockroaches in our room. Had to ask for basic things like clean towels and toilet paper.

Staff was hit or miss, some were so friendly and some were the opposite.

We switched hotels for the remainder of our stay and were way happier. There are definitely better places to stay on the beach for a similar price!

We check in to find a depressing room with blood stains on towels and bedding. This place was so bad we checked out the same day without staying even one night. When we informed the owner about blood stains he didn't apologies just asked the maid to verify this was the case and then wnet onto to complain about losing money. What sort of manger does that!?! Seedy little hovel of a place with much much better options at same or less rates along beach front.

I booked this place because of positive reviews at Agoda. But in fact this place appeared to be terrible. Dirty, dark room with cockroaches, blood stains on curtains, no place to hang wet close, staff sleeping just outside of the room at the balcony.

The only plus is location near station 3. We moved to another place after two nights and were happy to escape.

Far from the Nightlife scene but its beach front! So I couldn't care less.
They have their own restaurant downstairs so if you don't wanna walk far.
Spent 3 nights, and they provide room service everyday to clean up my room.
The owners were really nice!

We booked the deluxe room as we are a family of 3 and the deluxe had a double and single bed. Room was right on the corner so we had a decent sized veranda to sit outside, protected from the wind on those not so pleasant days....

Room was a decent size, bathroom too - had hot water and not bad water pressure = felt human again after a day in the sea... room was clean and the staff were friendly.

Location = boat station 3 and right on the beach, we were far enough away from Party Central yet not too far from the restaurants, etc.

Breakfast was not included, whIch was not big deal. There were no tea/coffee making facilities which was a little disappointing, however we were able to get a thermos of hot water and a couple of glasses so were able to make our own.

It was a shame the guy at reception wasn't particularly approachable as this was our first time in Boracay and chatting with the proprietor and/or staff is how we get the local intel; he appeared disgruntle when we checked in, having booked through an agency????? The staff seemed friendly enough.

We were met at Cataclan airport (not a pre-arranged meeting) by a woman who claimed to have a few hotels with great deals worth looking at. She guided us to the ferry, showed us where to buy our taxi/ferry tickets, accompanied us on the trike and led us to Sulu Plaza Beach hotel. The entrance to the restaurant/bar (Thai food) is right on the beach only a few steps from Boat Station 3 (literally... like 10 steps).

There were three of us traveling together and we were on a tight budget. We asked to see the "apartment room" and it looked fantastic -- a living area with a fold-out bed, a small kitchen with stove top and fridge, a nice-sized bathroom and a nice-sized bedroom with a small air con (VERY necessary in Boracay!). We agreed to stay and bargained down to the off-season rate since we were staying for 8 nights (thinking we would just leave if we didn't enjoy the place after a few nights).

The room ended up being great. What you sacrifice in luxury you get back in space and convenience. The two separate rooms were great for privacy, the kitchen was an awesome money-saver (we hit D*Talipapa for fresh fruit, eggs, bread, etc. for breakfasts and lunches), we had our own outdoor seating area (see photos) and the location was perfect for us (a ten minute walk along the beach to boat station 2 -- the active nighttime area). We were certainly surprised at the quality of room we got for 1800 pesos per night (dived by 3, that's only about $15US per person). Oh yeah, free cable and wi-fi!
