At the Pagoda Resort and Spa in Como, it's easy to pretend you're somewhere in SE Asia and not the outskirts of the Perth CBD. As you walk through the front entrance, you're surrounded by oriental style decorations which continue on through the wide corridors to your room. I was on the top floor and enjoyed the specky views of the Swan River from the big windows along the corridors as your step out of the lift. They also have secure on-site parking or you can park out on the street if you prefer.
My Pagoda Suite was a good size with a lounge room, a separate king size bedroom and an ensuite with a double sized jetted tub. It had a subtle oriental theme and a warm homely feel with proper furniture and pictures on the walls. I had an East facing balcony, perfect for enjoying your first cuppa in the morning but sadly the view of the adjoining property's carpark left a lot to be desired. I requested a room on the top floor with a balcony and nice views so I figured 2 out of 3 ain't bad. The room was very clean, especially the bathroom and everything worked well. There were 2 TVs, one in each room with Foxtel and the free WiFi worked well and continuously. The coffee machine was a welcome bonus but sadly, the complementary mini bar is not worth mentioning for a 4.5 star resort.
The food I ordered from the room service menu was very good and well presented with the only negative being the $6.50 delivery charge (again) for a 4.5 star resort, considering you're already paying GST.
Thank you Pagoda Resort and Spa for a wonderful couple of days of complete R&R and for acknowledging healthcare workers in this Pandemic with the promo you so generously offered. It was truly appreciated.

I can’t particularly fault too many things with Pagoda, the staff were friendly and helpful, the rooms were clean and well appointed with all things you may need for your stay.
Only things I can say as feedback: I was expecting FOXTEL on the TV but could only seem to get standard channels. The room doors were not very well sound proofed and we could hear lots of movement outside our room. The car parking was a little tight and filled up fast, it was also interesting to be able to see lots of the extra furniture and maintenance items clearly in vision of guests in the parking area which did look a bit untidy for a 4 star establishment (I have worked in hospitality).
The beds were comfortable and the hallways, common areas and rooms are tastefully decorated. Great big aircon unit that cooled the whole room very effectively! The hot water and water pressure was really good too.
Overall a pleasant stay was had by my husband and I on a night away from the kids!

Reception area is nice. Rooms quite nice. Got a river view room but only had a little glimpse of the river as the trees covered the view Definately not a resort but more a motel. Stayed on the 1st floor. The entire floor reeked of strong bleach smell and I gained a sore throat from breathing it in. There was biscuits on the floors and plenty of bagged rubbish and room service trays and plates in the corridors. The fridge in room was dirty and had crumbs in it. About 5pm someone cooked a steak in there room and the smell and smoke was so bad the corridors were filled with smoke that I'm surprised the fire alarms did not go off. I did complain to reception, so did someone else, and they tried to disguise the smell by spraying toilet spray. The pool area was nothing special, and the tables were filled with dirty empty plates and empty glasses, another guest told me they had been there for two days since they arrived. Overall I was not impressed with my stay and won't be checking in again. It's a shame because the place does have potential and reviews of the place seemed quite good. So very dissapointed.

We have stayed here numerous times over the years, in fact we had a lovely stay here only 12 months ago. Things have changed.
The pool area is still fabulous, common areas of the hotel are clean and well presented and room service was of good quality.
I think the main problem here is that management seem to have stopped caring. We had numerous maintenance issues with our room, when raised with staff they didn't seem to care, no apology or anything. The dishwasher was so old you couldn't pull out the trays to load the dishes and then it leaked all over the floor. Items missing from kitchen eg: no chopping board. Bathrooms smelled very musty - could be fixed by simply providing a doorstop to keep the door ajar. Bathroom door was broken at bottom hinge. 2 light globes were out in the room when we arrived. External door handle on balcony was broken and hanging by a thread. Housekeeping did not service our room on day 1 (even though a housekeeping staff member literally watched us walk out the door of our room, still didn't bother), day 2 I had to ask at reception for the room to be refreshed at 3pm.
In the past we have found the staff to be lovely, but current staff working at the Pagoda do not care about paying guests. I raised a few maintenance issues with staff, they didn't care (oh wait, 1 light globe was changed), when I asked if housekeeping had missed our room i was told they had gone home for the day (5pm), on checkout I was not asked if I enjoyed my stay or even greeted politely, just asked for my room number. I don't think it's too much to ask for things to be functioning in the room and to be treated with respect by staff.
We also had issues with intimidating and rowdy guests on our floor - kids allowed to run around unsupervised, unsavoury characters barging into the lift and piggybacking with us to get up to floors where they were not registered guests, drunken loud guests yelling in the hallways at 5pm on a Sunday night. I did not feel like it was a safe environment for my children.
We will not be returning.

Response from Team Pagoda, Guest Services / Front Office at Pagoda Resort & Spa
Responded Jan 18, 2022
Dear mezperth. We are disappointed to hear of your experience during your recent stay. We are addressing all the concerns raised. Our Front Office Manager is addressing this immediately with added training given to our staff on customer service where appropriate. We have also raised the housekeeping issues with SILK Hospitality, who has been contracted to service the room to ensure the delivery of the level of service we expect for our guests. The Hotel has noise and anti-social policies in place but some guests may choose to ignore, We do however endeavor to address them as soon as they are reported. We wish to assure you that the issues and concerns raised have been taken on board and will be addressed. Thank you for your support over the years and we would be happy to discuss this further and hope we have the opportunity to have you stay again and have have a much different experience to this. Thank you.

Booked three nights here in a Pagoda Suite, when we arrived the floor smelled really bad, no room service trays cleared from night before. Bathroom tiles yellow stains near toilet. No smoking hotel but ash trays at front entrance full of cigarette butts and unsavoury people going through collecting them. Booked a table in the restaurant for dinner, told we had to wear a mask due to COVID, understand, decided to get room service instead as it’s a bit impractical trying to eat a 3 course dinner with drinks trying to wear a mask at the same time, so we ordered room service, food was cold when delivered. Went to go to sleep could hear the person above us walking around, using the toilet and shower, it wasn’t the guests fault just no noise insulation.

My wife and I have just returned home after spending a pleasant couple of days at the Pagoda. Efficient check-in, great advice and explanations from reception, rooms clean, bright and airy, ample toiletries and tea/coffee supplies. My wife enjoyed her ensuite spas, the beds were comfortable, décor good in both the unit and common areas. Could hear water running when guests in adjacent rooms or overhead had showers running, but not unduly noisy. Staff service excellent and friendly. Gym, spa and pool off limits due to Covid restrictions. Seamless check-out. Good location and no noise from the freeway.

The outdoor pool area is really lovely although lacking in sufficient pool towels. The buffet breakfast isn't great quality for $30/pp and the food was not always topped up in the baymarie. The hotel is a little run down with only 1 of 2 lifts working.
However the most disappointing part of our staycation was that the room we stayed in smelled like cigarette smoke. We informed the staff who "rectified" the situation by spraying air freshener. The next day when we were checking out, we were told to wait whilst other people got to leave their room keys and leave. A different staff told us that our room smelled like smoke and was going to charge us $100/pp for it. We were absolutely appalled at the accusation considering we are both non-smokers and that we had reported about the smoke in the room the night before. Turns out that the night staff did not communicate to the day staff about what transpired the night before.

We stayed for 7 nights at this hotel in a 2-bedroom.l unit. This is one of the few in Perth that has aircon in both bedrooms & living hall which is important for us as it is summer. The bedrooms & living hall is normal but the bathrooms in both rooms are quite impressive. They are quite spacious & have a jacuzzi each & one of them has washing machine. This hotel also provide good Wi-Fi as we have no lagging issue when we streamed World Cup matches. The staff are friendly & engaging. The only downside was the cleaning standard which has room for improvement. On the location, it is near to the freeway & easy to access to anywhere. If you are lucky, you may get a room facing the swan river. For those driving, the hotel charges $15 per day (unlimited entries) for parking in their compound. As for the breakfast, is normal & nothing to shout about.

I booked the “Romantic Getaway” 2 weeks prior to our stay in April.
Check in took forever, the receptionist disappeared for 5 mins then came back and said there been a miss communication- no flowers, no choc coated strawberries, no chocolates!.. how disappointing.. I asked about the wine, oh yes the wine is in the room, not it wasn’t. If came 3 hours after we checked in, the package included Chandon, we got a $10 bottle of sparkling white! The room was a disappointment too (room 333) it must have been above the kitchen, all night we got cooking smells thru the room. The fridge was turned off when we arrived, the A/C in the bedroom was either on or off, the remote would not adjust the temp or fan speed.
The package was $397.00 and I was charged $250.00 and given a bottle of Chandon on check out. This stay nowhere as good as the first and due to this we won’t be going back.

We enjoyed a lovely overnight stay at Pagoda last night for a wedding.
The timing worked perfectly as the ceremony was at 2pm and reception at 6pn so we got to enjoy the resort in between. We went for a swim and had a spa, both were great. There could have been more chairs/lounges at the pool though, it wasn't even that busy and they were all taken.
The spa was a surprise, we only had a basic room so I wasn't aware it was included.
The room had a nice layout with a small couch, large bed, large ensuite and wardrobe.
There was also a mini bar fridge with free water and mini kit kat which again was a nice surprise.
We had breakfast at the restaurant in the morning which was ok, could have been a bit cheaper for what it was, but it was fine.
Not sure we would stay again but if you have a wedding to attend there or want a cheap staycation, I'd recommend staying overnight, especially as rates were very reasonable.

There are stairs however everything is accessible with out as there is a lift. Whilst I was there I actually observed the staff going above and beyond to assist someone who was in a scooter who appeared to be able to move around the hotel with ease including the use of the lifts.
Hi Wendy. The Pagoda does have rooms with balconies - just make a request directly with the hotel when you make a booking. The mini-bar is free and includes a couple of beers, soft drinks, water and a confectionary item, it's replenished daily. The hotel is non-smoking, so you can't smoke on the balcony.
2pm, but if the room is available they will generally let you book in earlier
