Detailed Reviews
What a great spot and well appointed room for a getaway! With views out across the Bay of Islands all the way to Waitangi and a 450m stroll downhill to the village for great restaurants & boutique shops this place gets 10/10 for location in Russell. The rooms have everything you need to either self cater or just lap up the luxury of beautiful linen, bathrobes & bath products. We sat on the balcony while a storm rolled through but between showers could easily whip around a local walk via flagstaff hill and back around the bay. Great hosts and what a place to go post lockdown! #backyourbackyard

We stayed 3 nights here and WOW whats a fabulous room and view! The room was very spacious, even the bathroom was large with two sinks, and plenty of spaces to put your things. It was so well equipped, there was nothing they did not provide, they have thought of every scenario and provided what you would need. I loved that there was two luggage racks so you didn’t have bags on the chairs. Very comfortable chairs, dining table and outdoor seating, also with the addition of two comfy loungers. There was a very large comfy bed, and you could pull the curtains in the morning and look at the beautiful view. The view was stunning from the deck and we spent many hours sipping wine and taking in the view. There was also a laundry you could use next to our unit. The location was excellent, right in Russell town, there was an uphill walk up the short drive, and like 2 minutes walk and you were in town. Its such a beautiful place Russell on a nice day. The hosts lived upstairs and were very friendly and helpful!

The property overlooks the little village and our room had water views as well. It is secluded and quiet and an easy stroll into the village- be prepared to walk off your dinner on return as it is uphill! The owners were welcoming and friendly offering recommendations as requested and local knowledge. The room was spacious and decorated and fitted to a very high standard The shower pressure was amazing and plenty of hot water. The bathroom had double basins and a bidet along with heated towel racks. There was a kitchenette that provided ample options for staying in and cooking along with a draw dishwasher. The Nespresso machine was appreciated. We loved the fact that there were comfortable lounge chairs as well as a veranda with table and chairs. The king size bed was extremely comfortable as were the pillows. A nice touch were the robes. There is a guest laundry available which we used and it was clean and everything provided for a nominal cost. DVDs were available there as were books for guests . We would love to stay longer next time as 2 nights was not enough.
These are passionate hosts who know how to run an establishment.
From our many trips to both Islands from across the ditch this establishment is up there with the best.

We stayed in Bellrock Lodge in February, one of the first stops on our tour of the country, and we simply couldn't have wished for better. You get a studio, with kitchenette, dining table, armchairs, etc and it's beautifully appointed - everything of a high standard. As soon as the studio door was opened for us our breath was taken away by the amazing view, which got even better once you stepped on to the balcony. There were lots of lovely little touches, like chocolates, and a lovely jar of biscuits each day, and coffee, tea and milk supplied. Lorraine even went out to buy some decaff coffee for me! There are laundry facilities, and we even had our washing done for us one day to save us waiting around. Because we'd booked through a travel agent, we got delicious breakfasts as well, in a beautiful dining room with - again - lots of lovely little touches. Peter and Lorraine were incredibly helpful, with Peter giving us lots of ideas for places to visit on our way down to Auckland, all of which were great, and which we wouldn't have known about without his advice.
We'd like them to know that everything they did was very, very much appreciated.

We spent a few days up in the Bay of Islands staying at the Bellrock Lodge, which was wonderful. The accommodation was A+ and the furnishing were top class. There was everything you needed in the rooms, and the equipment was top range. The bathroom assessories were fantastic, especially the white large fluffy towels. Peter and Lorraine were wonderful hosts and went out of their way to make our stay perfect. The Views from each room was breath taking, and it was lovely sitting on the deck watching the boats sailing up the harbour and the sun setting with a glass of wine. The lodge is very close to the town centre and is walkable, but a steep climb up to the lodge. Highly recommended.

This was our most recent of several stays at this delightful property overlooking Russell and the Bay of Islands. The rooms are well-equipped, with a big comfy king bed, large bathroom and a kitchenette and two lounge chairs with footstools. The verandah has a table and chairs and is a great spot to watch the sunset.
The owners have changed since our last stay, and the new owners are much more hands-off, tending to leave guests to their own devices. (The previous, more convivial hosts offered unique breakfasts upstairs, whereas the new owners will simply provide a continental breakfast the night before for an extra charge).
However, we were happy to stay once again at what is a very nice lodge.

Fantastic hosts, with stunning views over the bay. Peter and Lorraine made me so welcome at Bellrock Lodge, providing me with lots of information on Russell and surrounding area and helping me arange trips to surrounding area. The accommodation is superb with kitchen facilities so if you don't feel like walking into town in the evening you can always look after yourself and eat outside on the great deck overlooking the bay. As a single traveller they made me feel a friend rather than a guest.

We stayed at Bellrock Lodge for 3 nights in January. It was brilliant in every way. We had email communication with the hosts before our stay and they kindly arranged all our tours and had excellent recommendations. The room was big and sunny and had a wonderful balcony. The glass doors to the balcony opened up completely across the room giving a panoramic view of the Bay of Islands. Can highly recommend!
