Detailed Reviews
Good value for money accomodation. Doesn’t blow the budget. Have stayed here multiple times and always found it comfortable, clean and tidy. And friendly service from all the staff. Is our go to place every time we have to come to Nelson. Not too far away from town. But far enough away to be relaxing.

There is not much to be said about this place that hasnt been said by other people, the place is clean and simple. Nothing to dislike but not exactly wow. Just very plain and straight forward, free wi-fi, breakfast and parking make this place a four star instead of a 3.

Short stopover in Nelson and we stayed at this excellent motel next to the beach. The best thing about this motel is that it is very close to Tahunanui beach and the second best things is that the rooms are comfortable and clean as well as being well equipped. The breakfast was nothing special but that was okay we didn't book the place for its breakfast. Staff were friendly and they left us a key in a special place to allow for our late check in. If you want a nice place next to the beach in Nelson then I can highly recommend this place ...

2 weeks prior to our visit to Nelson, I sent an email to Aloha to confirm my booking (which we booked through Agoda). A staff member (Stacey) replied by email stating that they received my booking for the two nights I had booked for.
On the day of the visit, my family and I were travelling from Lake Tekapo to Nelson, which was a long 10-hour car trip. We did not think that we would arrive before the reception closed, so I gave them a call at about 7pm to give them a heads up to say that we would not be arriving until much later that night.
To my surprise, the manager of the motel (Tony), told me that they did not receive my booking, and all the rooms were booked out. My family and I were freaked out at that time when he told me that, the phone reception was poor, as we were outside the towns between Kaikoura and Waipapa Bay. We still had 3 more hours of driving before we could make it to Nelson.
It was a Friday night and all the motels in Kaikoura have no vacancies. I could not make alternative emergency arrangement without the internet.
Despite explaining to Tony many times about the confirmation email from Stacey, he did not want to help, nor listen to my concern (that we were out in the middle of nowhere and could not contact Agoda), he insisted that this was not his problem and I had to ring Agoda myself.
To no avail, we were forced to drive back to Kaikoura so we were able to contact Agoda. It was late at night, we had to get through Agoda's call centre first to be able talk to someone. Luckily someone from Agoda was nice enough to sort this problem out. They believe the booking was sent successfully to Aloha and were not sure why Aloha was not able provide the room. We were left waiting in the car whilst waiting for Agoda trying to sort this out with Tony. At about an hour later, we finally got a call (miraculously with such bad reception), from Agoda, that Tony found a room for me. They advised me to call Tony back.
I rang Tony back, and he scrambled to leave some instructions as to where to leave the keys. No apology was given, nor any explaination as to how he stuffed up my booking. He also did not explain how he found a room for us, when he claimed earlier that all the rooms have been taken.
At about 11.30pm, we managed to arrive at Nelson. We could have arrived much earlier if we were not being stuffed around.
We checked in to the room, very tired, and the room was very tiny and was not welcoming at all. The beds were filthy, apparently he told me he had to force other guests to move to other motels for me. There was a map of all the rooms for the motel, with the names of each guest allocated to every room, I found my name on there. I was very confused how this stuff up could happen.
Upon checking out, he did not fully explain the stuff up, instead he blamed Stacey for not checking the booking system correctly. I believe they sell the room for those who fail to arrive at a certain time, to other people.
What could have been a 10 hour journey from Lake Tekapo to Nelson became a dreadful, nightmarish 12 hour trip... all thanks to the stuff up by Aloha.
This was the worst of all the accommodation during our 3 weeks stay in NZ, not just in terms of the rude management and customer service, but also the squashy dated room that lacks appeal. I would not recommend this motel as there are plenty of other options in Nelson.

We stayed in the Executive Suite. Fully equipped kitchen, living room, bedroom, plenty of room to move around. Located across the street from a large park which separated the property from the beach. Very good location. Continental Breakfast included in our room charge. Very clean and safe. Park on the street or in the Hotels parking lot. Would stay there again.

Absolutely loved staying here. Right on the beach, awesome bars and great food. If you are looking for a nice place to stay at a central location, this is the place for you. My husband and I spent our anniversary here and I must say the lady the runs the place is so informative and helpful.

A lovely hotel for work or pleasure. I stayed 3 nights for a work trip. The manager/owner greeted me upon late check-in and even offered to carry my bag from the car to the room. He offered suggestions within walking distance for dinner- the Thai place down the street as well as Smugglers are both great. The (German?) lady who was working when I checked out was also incredibly sweet- she made sure I was comfortable when I asked if I could sit and work in the breakfast area- asking if it was okay and offering coffee- how nice is that!! The room was cozy, clean, comfortable and I had 3 wonderful nights of sleep as the bed was very comfortable... I would definitely stay here again- highly recommend! I'd love to come back with my husband and daughter for a summer holiday from Australia.

This was not as expected for a motel room. It had a kettle and fridge but no other cooking facilities. A "continental" breakfast was provided - fruit juice, cereals, toast, coffee. Fortunately there is a decent bar/pizza place just down the road and I was only staying one night. The bedroom was ok, nothing special, the shower was huge with great water pressure. What really let it down was long hair in the WC pan and long hair in the washbasin. I found a parking bay free at the rear of the motel but there did not appear to be enough for all clients.

With a short walk to the beautiful Tahunanui beach, this was luxury at a very affordable price. Lots of sweet touches in the bathroom. Great for a romantic night or two. Lots of restaurants in walking distance. Host was welcoming and the continental breakfast was most welcome.

stayed here as a jumping off point to visit Abel Tasman National Park. Hotel is very nice with free wifi! (uncommon in NZ). Owner is very helpful, though a little particular about a few things but understandable because its his place. Breakfast is included and has a nice variety of food options.
Bathroom and rooms were very nice and clean.
You can see right out to the beach from some of the rooms and it is beautiful!!
The hotel is outside the main part of Nelson so its kind of a walk if you want to get to the center (where theres grocery stores and such) but a quick walk from the hotel is KFC, Subway and McDonalds so you can get your food options there.
Had a great stay definitely recommend it.
