The burgundy rose hotel was great, we checked in with the friendly staff and got a splendid nights sleep. The beds were comfortable and the room was very clean. All the movies channels on sky was an excellent bonus and the location was in a good spot. The stay all together was an enjoyable one I would defenitely recommend this motel.

This motel served us for the night as my wife and I journeyed up to the Bay of Islands. Whangarei deserves more than a nights stay and we pledged to ourselves to re-visit this interesting town, with its attractive marina, on another visit. The motel's owner was friendly and helpful, offering good advice about where to eat and what to see on our short visit. Our accommodation on the upper-floor was clean, and spacious, and gave us a quiet night's sleep until the early morning train ran through the room!

Poor amenities. Our one bedroom unit was crammed with 4 beds and had 1 tattered armchair and 4 very dirty dining room chairs. The carpet was dirty. We asked for a room with a disability shower and that was good, spacious with very hot water. Take your own soaps etc as none are provided. Most of the advertised extras were not in our room. We had 4 nights in Whangarei but only stayed here 1 night before moving to a clean place for a cheaper price. Very disappointed in the place. Very nice helpful managers and clean white sheets and towels but it didn't make up for the rest.

This is a basic clean motel with some modernisation....shower is in serious need of an update. Bed had a electric blanket but the room itself was very cold.....panel heater didnt help. Heavy traffic and noisy neighbours left us with very little sleep...not the most postive experience.

An old '60s style cinder block hotel although well maintained. Faces a 4-lane road that is busy - but not much traffic overnight. My room was closest to the road though. Rooms have been updated and were clean and well fitted out. WiFi worked and was OK.

We stayed one night here on our two week trip around the north island. It was one of the best value motels we stayed in with a lovely host. The room was spotlessly clean and tastefully decorated. The wifi worked really well when compared to others and free. The bed was comfortable and we had a good sleep. It was a quick direct drive into town and around.

Good value, clean and comfortable. Pretty much everything you need for an overnight stay. We booked a studio room which included a queen bed and a single bed, perfect for 2 adults and 1 child. Kitchenette with microwave and stove top and fridge was very useful. Didn't find a hairdryer. Also only had a shower - which was fine for us. A decent sized room so we didn't feel cramped or uncomfortable. A little impersonal in that there are no artworks or colour on the walls - all very monochromatic and a little lacking in character. Some noise from heavy trucks driving down Kamo Rd, but conveniently located within easy walking distance of the Sports Complex, so perfect for tournaments. Also just up the road from a Countdown. Considering what we paid for the room, it was excellent value for money. Spa pool downstairs.

Room Tip: Our room faced the road and that may have been why we found it noisy.

Host was really friendly and helpful. Lots of good local knowledge and excellent source of local knowledge on places to eat and activities to do. Take our word for it when she recommends a place to eat she knows all the best value places. We should have heeded her advice instead of going to Cobb and Co, see my other review. Rooms are excellent value and nice and quiet. Would definitely come back.
