The host was very accomodating and made himself available. The place was really clean not a speck of dust anywhere. I would go back for sure.Plenty of room and rates were good. Close to all amenities. After a few bad experiences it was a pleasure to stay here. Thank you.

Roomy and airy. Owner was very helpful by driving us to pick Thai food when it looked like rain. He also drove us back to the airport the next day to pick up rental car. View from windows was trees on hill. While we heard road noise, it wasn’t a problem.

We stayed at the Pembrooke Motor Lodge in Whangarei with another couple. Bob and Carol, the kiwi owners, were both very friendly in the initial phone contacts we had with them. They very kindly allowed us to have use of a unit before check in time. The units were very clean and all the staff were friendly and obliging. The beds were very comfortable and warm, the hot water was hot and the shower was strong with an adjustable shower head. A very comfortable and pleasant stay. We'll be back next time we're in Whangarei.

Stayed in room 12 which was a disabled room.... that was confusing, anyway the 2 carparks in front of the room were disabled carparks. We parked in one of them because it was in front of our room... some other car was already park in the other disabled carpark in front of our room and was parked there the entire time of our stay... did not have a disabled sticker.. however the owner came to our room and asked us to move our car as other guests complained about our car being parked in a disabled carpark in front of our disabled room, so we moved it. Not long after another vehicle parked in that same disabled carpark in front of our room with no disabled sticker on their vehicle which made me thing was it the "guest" complaining or the owners didn't want us parked on that carpark. We also queried our breakfast that we pre-booked with our accommodation on line and then turned up and paid in full however the owner was unsure and had to look it up 2 or 3 times before confirming that we had paid for breakfast. The lodge also has no guest book or phones in the rooms, We experienced a lot of noise above our room which was okay because it wasn't too late and we are normal people until we went to sleep at 10pm and then started hearing more stomping from upstairs after 11.30pm where we had to get up and go and address the situation but it didn't stop so we called reception and noone answered our calls. Which makes me wonder if there was an emergency situation, is there anyone working on site to ensure the safety of guests.

I recently stayed at this charming little motel and was thoroughly impressed with the experience. The bed was incredibly soft and comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The colour scheme throughout the room was lovely, creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere. Every detail, from the decor to the amenities, was thoughtfully considered, making my stay exceptionally pleasant. I would highly recommend this motel to anyone seeking comfort and style during their travels. It's a hidden gem that truly exceeded my expectations. Thank you Carol and Bob.

Unfortunately, we were overcharged close to $300 for one night, and we are having great difficulty getting our money back. The owner, when contacted, was quite rude, telling me he didn't want to know about the overcharge, to go through the booking agency for it, then telling me I was a 'good girl' (I'm 50!) when I said I would do that. Very condescending, sexist and unhelpful I felt. And over three weeks later - we're still waiting for our money!

We stayed two nights in unit 1.
This is an older, dated motel but clean and comfortable.
Some units may get traffic noise but we were away from the road.
Roomy units, comfortable bed, park at the door, wide screen tv, basic kitchen.
Very handy to the basin and the new Hunterwasser museum.
Also very convenient to Bank Street and its cafes and restaurants.
We would strongly recommend Essence cafe and Whang Thai in Bank Street.
Unlike many motels all units here HAVE air conditioning absolutely essential this time of year.
This motel is value for many but dont expect five stars.

Spacious and not too far to walk to the quay. The included breakfast was a very good value for money. Plenty of choices and good size serving. While initially it felt like Faulty Towers, the staff warm up and were friendly. They helped us with planning our route for our holiday.
The bathroom and toilet could do with a little bit of upgrade. The place is looking a bit tired and could do with a little bit of touch up. Also, being in the main road, it's pretty noisy from the traffic. The weather was quite warm so we're unable to close the window which made sleeping difficult.

Pembroke Motor Lodge was great. Stayed for one night in November 2023. Room was spacious and very clean. Bed and pillows were very comfortable, with quality fine cotton sheets. Good aircon. Good value. Location is ideal for exploring Whangarei and surrounds. Bob and Carol were so welcoming, friendly and hospitable. They made our stay. Highly recommend.

I will always opt to stay here when I need a spot in Whangarei. It's close enough to the main centre, hospital etc to be very convenient. It's quiet and has great parking. The owner is efficient and friendly. My favourite feature though is just how spotlessly clean it is. Every time! The best failure for money in town.
