This place is a classic motel in the best sense of the expression. It's kept spotlessly clean and modern by the hardworking couple that runs it, it's in a convenient location but not right downtown, and the housekeeping units are big enough for a family but cozy for a couple. They have complete kitchens for self catering and there is a supermarket about 100 meters away. And there's a barbeque and big outdoor dining table covered by a tent in the inner courtyard, with some nice lights for atmosphere.

This is an older style motel but perfectly comfortable for a night's stay. The owner was very friendly and helpful as we arrived later than planned. We had a studio apartment with a small bathroom. There are two supermarkets almost next door so we got basic groceries and cooked dinner in the kitchen. The location was good to visit the falls, kauri tree walk, harbour and town.

The hosts Jennie and Peter were very approachable and knowledgeable. They went the extra mile to make me feel welcome and looked after. The motel is close to a New World and a Countdown, the Octagon Theatre which offers excellent theatre and dinner deals, one of Whangarei's favourite restaurants Suk Jai Thai restaurant, bus stops, and many cafes. Great value for money. Highly recommended.

This motel had every thing we needed for a weeks stay. Quiet, clean and comfortable. Serviced daily. Hosts were friendly, and accommodating. full range of equipment for cooking is needed. Just a 20 minute walk to town centre.

Have owners of motels not heard of how to treat customers in order to get return visits? We arrived at the counter after booking our room on the drive up in the early evening. We were not welcomed just told where our room was. I still have no idea of the managers name. The rooms are dated and could do with a good spring clean. Looking behind doors when cleaning is always a good idea. If there are more than one of you which we were don't expect enough shampoo and soap for all. There was one unit of shampoo and liquid soap out of a pump so you have no idea what the contents are. There were electric blankets on the bed but the wires were in your back all night and only one pillow each and no spares. Just not a good experience. :(

Funny title for a five-star review, but that's what really struck us about Cypress Court. From the outside, with the concrete walkways and the busy street, it doesn't impress. But the one-bedroom we had (#10, upstairs toward the back) was laid out in such a way that everything worked. A large desk, with plenty of outlets, and generous WIFI. A large dining table. A large kitchen counter, such a pleasure after all the little tiny ones we've had in other spots. Great light, from the windows on two sides, and the excellent light fixtures. Some of the nicest bed linens we've experienced in New Zealand, including at places that cost double what this one does. And, best of all, a warm, friendly host. Christine was always available to answer questions and make our stay a good one. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the family unit for two nights and found the Cypress to be very comfortable. Our party consisted of my wife and I and our two adult children. The cypress is next to a countdown and a new world. The service was first class and friendly. The wifi is part of the package but runs our pretty quick. I was able to get some more vouchers on request. The cypress is good value for money and I would stay here again.
