We recently stayed at Stonehaven Motel in Whangarei and had a excellent experience! The friendly owner took the time to show us the different room options before we booked a studio unit. The unit was clean, fresh, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The queen-size bed was comfy, the shower was great, and the daily cleaning and fresh towels added a nice touch. The overall atmosphere was relaxed and stress-free. We highly recommend Stonehaven Motel for anyone looking for clean and comfortable accommodation in Whangarei

My wife was admitted to hospital for major emergency surgery. I needed a base close to the hospital and having stayed at Stonehaven it was high on my list of places to stay to avoid having to travel an hour each way to visit the hospital Dave was extremely accommodating and the room rate was great value. The ground floor studio had everything I needed for an extended stay. Room was super clean great linens and very comfy queen bed. Within walking distance to two large supermarkets and a couple of restaurants close by. Highly recommend Stonehaven

Stayed here for one night to break the journey back from Ahipara to Auckland. The motel is situated about a five minute drive from the centre of Whangarei and is easy to find. The rooms are on ground and first floor and there is parking for one car per room. We had a two bedroom upstairs room which had a large lounge with flat screen TV with plenty of Channels to choose from, a separate kitchen with all you would need to cater for yourself, although we didn’t use this, apart from boiling a kettle to make coffee (provided). The queen bed we used was very comfortable and the bathroom had a strong shower over a small tub. There are one or two restaurants within walking distance should you not want to cook. The lack of air conditioning did not seem to be a problem with plenty of ventilation from open windows if required, and the location, even though on quite a busy road, was not at all noisy.

In my opinion New Zealand doesn't have great motels or hotels, because of lack of interest and service. This place is different. Its the first place we stayed in that was decent and the owner/manager was really genuinely nice and helpful. Keep up the good work and we hope to see you in the near future again. The motel itself is very central or at least central enough to either walk to where you want to be or take a short drive.

Comfortable and very clean rooms; beds are excellent. Satff very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Different room options available: fully fitted kitchens or kitchenette. Two supermarkets are across the road; drive to CBD only a few minutes. Forest, mountain and river walks are nearby and a real treasure trove of singing birds and native trees. A real pleasure to stay here. Laundrette about 300 metres away. Numerous restaurants nearby. Great choice!

I have stayed in a number of hotels in Whangarei. This is by far the best venue I have stayed in. We were In Whangarei for a Hikoi to the far north with our father whom is terminally ill. The owner greeted us with a warm welcome. Went out of his way to set up and clean the BBQ for our family. Facilities were very clean and good access for my father whom was in a wheelchair. *****Would highly recommend ********

Roomy, comfortable, plenty of facilities, well located on a main street, this is worth checking out. A bit of road noise overnight. Price probably at the high end for the quality provided. Could do with some modernisation soon. Helpful staff.

Easy place to stay, book on the website because it's cheaper. Very friendly owners and great value for money. Clean and tidy with very good service. Close to the city and supermarkets. Decor is straight out of the 70s but that's not a bad thing. Highly recommended.

Yes the decor is a little dated and could do with an update but then Again we didn't sit around wanting to stare at the decor either! The service (Dawn) is with a smile and a very friendly attitude, free wifi, off street parking, we stayed in the 1 bedroom unit, 1 night upstairs and was very roomy and old style welcoming. Everything is kept to a very, very clean standard and would recommend this place even for extended stay, has oven & stovetop to cook on site. safe travels!

We arrived on a Tuesday evening. The ?owner/manager on reception was friendly, welcoming and informative. Our room was much bigger than we had assumed it would be and it was really clean. Crisp linen on the bed and a great kitchenette. We opted to buy dinner at the Chinese place down the road opposite the supermarkets. It was fresh and delicious, $10.50 for a container and you fill it with whatever you want from the buffet. The Stonehaven parking is a bit tight. It is a really quiet, easy to find location and the beds are comfortable. It is good value for money and we would stay again. We are 2 x adults and 1 x child.
