Just back from a fantastic stay at Spicers Vineyard Estate. Every little detail was thought of and the staff were so considerate and couldn’t do enough for us. The room was superb with all the facilities and extras you’d expect from a quality venue with a wood fire and private balcony. The highlight for us were the kangaroos who came to visit each day. There were so many of them and it was wonderful to see them just hopping around. Thank you to all the staff, especially Katheryn who went out of her way to rearrange our dinner, Phillip who got us there and back and Monika for her welcome. Truly a lovely place to stay. Would love to return and would recommend it in a heartbeat!
Stayed there in mid December 2021 for 2 nights. The resort is very nice. Room was very clean and very well done up though I am not sure it is worth the price we paid. Food at Botanical was fabulous and the service there was excellent. Overall we really enjoyed our stay there except for the experience with the resort’s reception staff. We made an online dinner reservation at Botanica. On the day that we were supposed to have our dinner at Botanica, as the restaurant was closed after breakfast, I called the reception area to help me request for a table at the verandah area but when I arrived at the restaurant in the evening, was assigned a table inside the restaurant When I told the restaurant staff that I called the resort’s reception staff to help request for a table at the verandas area, the restaurant staff said that they did not receive the request from the reception staff. Anyway the restaurant staff quickly set up a table for us at the verandah. The next day we had the hot air balloon tour which comes with breakfast. Our hotel stay also comes with breakfast so I asked the reception staff if she could request for the kitchen to pack our breakfast for us so that we can have it for lunch. She went on and on about how they will not allow cooked food to be brought out and consumed outside the restaurant. Totally ridiculous cos the hotel does allow breakfast to be served in the room. We decided to called the restaurant ourselves and ask for room service so that we can keep the food for lunch. For checkout, we asked for late checkout but this again was not communicated to the housekeeping staff. Overall we had a great stay at the resort but was spoilt by the bad service by the resort reception staff.…
Ok, we have been here 5 hrs and we feel like we have been on holidays for a week. Very relaxing, great location, beautiful estate full of nature and beautiful vistas. Staff are attentive, knowledgeable and polite, room is fantastic and the restaurant is exceptional, I had the duck and frankly it’s in my top 5 meals of all time in terms of quality and flavour…….. I have 2 more days of this and can’t wait, normally I wait until the end of a stay to review but after that meal I just had to review.
From the minute you commence your drive up the driveway you begin to relax. Spicers truly is a beautiful part of the world, whether you are strolling through the gardens, watching kangaroos, relaxing by the pool and spa or just being greeted by the friendly reception or restaurant staff you truly will have a wonderful time here. Restaurant Botanica was great for both dinner and breakfast and I would only recommend a stay when the restaurant is open. Our room was spacious, beds comfy and I loved the bath tub. The communal lounge room is a great idea and I loved reading the birthday book. You won’t regret a decision to stay here.
We had a nice stay but did feel disappointed with the quality of our room (the one above reception) given the significant price we paid at an off peak period. Our room had no verandah or outdoor space to sit and enjoy a glass of wine which was something we had really looked forward to as part of our Hunter Valley experience. The bathroom had a spa bath but no window, only a small vanity and the room generally could have been in any four star hotel anywhere. Having said that, it looked as if the other rooms were larger with outdoor spaces so if you pick the right room, all good! On the plus side, the team were friendly and breakfast at the Botanical restaurant was delicious. We enjoyed a lot of time at the pool and spa essentially having it to ourselves which felt very luxurious. We had a good time but it felt expensive for what was delivered overall.…
We had stayed at Spicers a few years ago and we loved it. So we where looking forward to spending a few days for our 40th wedding anniversary. WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. From unfriendly reception staff to wait staff at breakfast. We got into our room and was surprised (especially in covid times when hygiene is at the forefront of everyone's mind) that the toiletries are refill reuse pump packs, tea and coffee amenities were not great ( i don't think anyone in charge has ever tried a cup of one of the teas) biscuits where in an unsealed jar, milk was in an unsealed bottle. We went to sit down and the lounge was covered in stains. We had to put a towel down before we could sit on it. Room was not particularly clean. We decided to eat at the restaurant Botanic, the food was enjoyable, except for my garden salad that consisted of 5 untossed and undressed cos lettuce leaves. At $12 a serve i thought it was a bit much. We also felt rushed and they wanted us out so they can clean up. Breakfast time came we went to the reasturant and got a look of WTF are you doing here I want to go home when we walked through the door. There was no point stating our disappointment at the time as there seemed to be no one in charge and our dissatisfaction would just go unnoticed. I certainly felt that Spicers has dated and $700 per night it was not a 5star experience. I would not recommend Spices to anyone as I have done in the past. Much nicer places to stay for us next time…
I would give 10 stars if I could, absolutely amazing place to stay. The best in the Hunter Valley by far. The rooms are amazing with an amazing spa and fire place. Having the hunters best restaurant within the same grounds is an added bonus An incredible place you will want to return to.
Absolutely loved our stay in a luxury spa suite. Quite spacious with two separate outdoor verandas. Checkin was very easy. Staff members were all extremely helpful and friendly. Room immaculate. Fell in love with the heated bathroom and Leif products. Room service from restaurant botanica was superb! Breakfast was delicious and peaceful in Botanica. Book well in advance, loved this Spicers getaway. Would also recommend upstairs rooms if you are not mobile impaired.
We spent a wonderful 4 nights at Spicers Vineyards Estate. The rooms are very comfortable although they would benefit from some drawers for clothing so that we could have unpacked rather than lived out of our suitcases. The staff could not have been more friendly and obliging, the breakfasts are delicious and generous and the grounds are lush, well maintained and extremely beautiful. The weather was cool and rainy while we were there so we didn't try out the pool or spa, but they looked very inviting. We would have no hesitation in staying here again in the future.
loved every minute look forward to our next visit. Peaceful and energizing. Wished we could of stayed longer. Loved the Botanica restaurant for dinner as well as breakfast perfect setting perfect staff delightful food and of course the wine selection was superb.
