Wow finally a place in Australia with high end customer service like we usually would received overseas. This is the first time I have not wanted to leave and go back home because spicers was not only clear, charming and full of character with a modern twist but the people were beyond kind, humble and patient. They made our stay with 2 kids under 2 so special and never once made us feel bad for noise or mess during breakfast times. Thank you to BECK wow you're just awesome and made my kids feel so special and loved. We will be back every year and make this our tradition to celebrate our anniversary and birthdays which all lie a day apart. THANK YOU ...FINALLY a place with real service and generous portions of everything INCLUDING actual pumps for shampoo bodywash and conditioner ...this just feels more luxurious than those tinty squeeze bottles.…
A lovely 4 night stay in the heart of Pokolbin. The guesthouse is warm and welcoming and emits a casual yet luxurious elegance. Our bedroom was located on the ground floor of the garden wing with a door opening up onto a shared veranda adorned in grape vines. The room was well equipped with everything we could need and the attached bathroom was spacious and clean. The little extras that Spicers go to in the rooms (make up wipes, guest note, heated towels ect.) really elevate the stay to a higher memorable level. We enjoyed the restaurant multiple nights and our complimentary breakfast sat in the atrium every morning. The staff were friendly and down to earth whilst also being extremely efficient in their service. Can not recommend enough and would love to come back.
Spicer's is a lovely place to stay. Comfy well appointed rooms and a great ambience in the main area. The lounge with open log fire, the outside with strip heating and fire pits made for a very cosy and relaxing break. The breakfast was really nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful.
We had a group booking and everyone very much enjoyed their stay! Special mention to Phil, Tom, Emma, Brandon, Ruth - many who are familiar faces from May last year. The personable and friendly staff always add to the experience. Bar menu was great for a light meal and our dinner at eRemo was fantastic. Sitting by the fires are a great way to spend the evening. Breakfast options were excellent. Room was great and very comfortable - exactly what we needed for the time we were there. Bathrooms are on the smaller sides, but are beautifully designed and its not like you spend much time in there anyway! It has all the amenities you need when you are around the grounds, especially the insect repellent! Some additional lighting during the night might be a good addition, especially after it rains. It is also great that there are ground level rooms available at request for those who may not do well with steps as there are no lifts available. We are very much looking forward to another stay!…
Stayed here last minute for our anniversary. My bad - booked late the night before. Staff were great and breakfast was really good. But this place is so overpriced - have stayed many places in the Hunter Valley but this was really underwhelming. ERemo - so expensive - $ 130.00 for a bit of ribeye steak? Way over the top. Luckily due to an amazing waiter at dinner - ( sorry not sure of his name) got us moved the next morning to a room where we could at least open doors and get fresh air. Rooms are very clean and bed really comfortable - all the little luxuries are there but as someone else mentioned in another review bathrooms are really narrow. Room service the second night was great. BUT do not order the champagne at the bar before you go to dinner because at $35 a glass is just a bit OTT - even if it was Louis Roederer!!!…
From start to end the stay was fab. The staff couldn’t be more helpful and it felt very genuine. The grounds were kept beautifully and the room was so clean and well presented. They upgraded us which was an added bonus :) also lovely spot to enjoy a sunset
I recently spent three days at this wonderful resort with a couple of family members. The accommodation was comfortable and clean and the grounds are beautiful. There is an attached restaurant and it is convenient to hunter valley vineyards and the gorgeous hunter valley gardens. Very enjoyable. I hope to return soon.
Spicers Guesthouse, Pokolbin - couldn’t fault anything. Perfect weekend with the family! Spicers - Best hotels in Australia by a mile! Ambiance, staff, food, cleanliness, location all exceptional. Nick
Had the pleasure of staying three days / two evenings for a work conference, overall the stay was lovely. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Rooms were very comfortable and clean although smallish bathrooms. Food was delicious and fresh, and nothing was a hassle. The grounds and views were beautiful, even had kangaroos in the afternoon laying in the sun. Enjoyed the open fire in the evenings for peaceful nights under the stars. Look forward to returning in the future.
We had a very pleasant couple of nights at Spicers. Service was great, attentive and accommodating especially with two young kids. The hotel is new, very clean, there are plenty of spots to spend time relaxing and taking in the country scenery. Highlight of each day was breakfast and dinner at the restaurant. Great service especially from Allison Elfwing and Phillip, plenty of colouring pencils to keep kids occupied. The food from Michael Elfwing was exceptional. Had a great 800g T bone which has an amazing buttery flavour. One to try for any steak lover. Overall great place to explore the region from and there will always be somewhere to relax after a day out.
