In all honesty I couldn’t recommend The Convent, it’s because of the price, $470 for a Std room which: *has very limited internet, unless you pay extra * small room * basic bed *shower over a narrow bath which I couldn’t stand under, I’m 183 c/m *2 flights of stairs * walls that you can hear your neighbour *no real luxury or justifiable comforts for the expense If you are looking for a stay just to send out promo snaps on social media.. there is photo ops here.. value for money….not even close *The reception did let us in for an early check in as we were attending a wedding at the site, but after two previous phone calls, the early check in wasn’t confirmed so we turned up early….

We always enjoy our time at the convent. Apart from the beautiful rooms and grounds, what makes the stay the best are the welcoming and friendly staff who remember us. Jessica is always forefront in our minds with here excellent knowledge and great sense of humour. William is a familiar and kind face and always provides good service and great coffee. Within circa 1876 we always enjoy the wonderful food made with local ingredients and are also impressed with Karen and her friendly welcoming hug. For a relaxing and comfortable stay with top service we highly recommend the Convent.

Me and my wife stayed at the Convent for 2 nights on 12/11. The hotel looks very nice from the outside, it’s grounds are very nice and very well kept. But the hotel needs to be renovated. The staff were all very nice and very polite. The shower to our room No 12 was inside the bathtub, very dangerous and slippery getting in and out. Our room didn’t have a private balcony, but rather a shared balcony with the room next to us. It’s not very nice sitting outside and the occupants of the next room sitting right next to you. When walking around the grounds, especially at night, you have to be careful for snakes, and the hotel to its credit , has BEWARE OF SNAKES signs posted as a precaution. We opened the room fridge to get a drink, and found out that BOTH the can of coke , and the still bottle of water that we took out, had expiry dates that had expired 1 & 2 weeks ago. NOT VERY NICE to see that. The breakfast served was very nice, but to my astonishment, no fruits were supplied whatsoever. I’ve been to countless hotels over the years, and every one of them has always had fruit available with its morning breakfast. But for some reason only known to the Convent, fruit is absent from its breakfast menu. NOT GOOD. The table assigned to us for this morning’s breakfast was so wobbly, that we were scared that our coffees were going to spill all over the table. We paid $1136 for 2 nights at the Convent including breakfast. That’s a lot of money to pay. We expected a lot better from this hotel. But we were left VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Absolutely disgusting customer service. I booked a room here recently and had to cancel due to a sudden death in the family. I cancelled 6 full days before our booking and my request was declined due to a "7 day non cancellation policy" and they had already taken the money from my credit card. I explained there had been a death in the family and we would be attending the funeral and wake and would they consider allowing us to change the dates we stayed. I was told they would allow it in this instance but there would be a $150 admin fee on top of the $445 room charge. They actually told me they were doing me a favour. You're kidding. The lack of empathy and arrogant attitude makes me wonder why anyone would want to support such a business. Be very very careful booking a room here. I never will again.....

We ran away from home for a few days to relax and had got to do just that at The Convent. Our room was a deluxe which is small but suited our needs- balcony with comfy chairs off the room makes it seem bigger and grounds are beautiful to wander through to enjoy the peaceful surrounds. Breakfast was great and staff should be complemented on their friendliness and committment to providing excellent service. Down side which is out of the hands of the staff are noisy neighbours returning home at 1.30 in the morning and in an old building loud voices and slamming toilet seats- Noise travels! As we know, money doesnt buy class or consideration. Would not like to share a balcony with guests like this which is always a risk in shared balcony spaces. It didnt rain on our parade however - we will stick with the brand and check out Lilianfels next mini break.

Small enough for staff to care. Rooms well appointed and spacious. Similarly bathrooms. Many rooms had a large shared deck to enjoy the country air. Breakfast was excellent. Peppertree Wines a brief stroll down the driveway. Well away from noise and traffic of Hunter Valley.

The high tea was great. Lovely surroundings A little expensive for what you get. But it’s a good experience. Beautiful building. Would have liked to be able to get more than one cup of coffee with deal.

We spent three nights in this delightful hotel hidden away down a tree lined lane in a lush garden with a winery and hatted restaurant. An impressive Australian country home has been transported from Coonamble to the Hunter...the old convent has been transformed with elegant and comfortable lounge chairs, French provincial features in the interior, very comfortable rooms with French doors leading to wide verandas. The en-suites are roomy and well designed. Breakfast was served in the verandah restaurant with views across the garden. Pergolas connect various gardens and the pool, the impressive drive leads to a fountain and beautiful oaks. The service was exceptional, we arrived late but the receptionist ordered us room service from the Circa 1876 in addition to the delightful macrons and fruit platter, recognition of my birthday. She served the courses in sequence as we needed them. Amazing service. The entire stay was flawless, even the thunderstorm didn’t dampen the occasion..

Stayed here for a couple of nights with my husband to celebrate our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We chose this hotel because we were very impressed with its beautiful presence. We stumbled across it the last time we were in the Hunter Valley and vowed to stay there the next time we went and we were not disappointed! The breakfast was delicious and the waitress Jess had the best personality and made us feel so welcome!! 👏👏👏
