We booked a King Spa Balcony Harbourside Suite for 4 nights from 29/12/21 -2/1/21. The staff were friendly & the view from our room was amazing. Watching the different ships come into the harbour is almost hypnotic & we were in a perfect position for the NYE fireworks. We were seconds away from all of the bars and restaurants in the honeysuckle precinct and in walking distance to Nobby’s Beach. The hotel however is simply very tired looking and feeling in everyway and is in desperate need of a serious refurbishment. We booked the room at a sale price (I assume because of the pandemic), if I had paid full price for the standard of room I would have been upset. It seems like nothing has been done to it since it was opened about 20 years ago & for this reason alone, it cannot really consider itself a 4 star establishment. The room service meals we ordered were also disappointing, we did not finish them ( the breakfasts were ok.) When we arrived we told there was no valet parking even though this is highlighted on the website and in the booking documentation we were provided with. We have travelled around the world extensively and stayed in lots of different hotels, experiencing the best and worst of hospitality, this hotel was disappointing and we are unlikely to stay again until it is refurbished.

Dear PTNK2014, Thank you for your feedback following your recent trip to Rydges Newcastle. It is great to hear of that our team were friendly with the service you received and that the room was amazing. The outlook from all of our Harbour view rooms is some of the best in Newcastle to view all of the action happening out on the Harbour especially at New Years eve to capture the fireworks. Your feedback on the refurbishment have been well received and this will be passed onto the owner. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you back for another stay. Kind Regards, Reece.M

Spacious family rooms, enough space for our luggage and for the kids to run about. We stayed in the King Suite. The service was friendly everywhere in the hotel. They were short staffed that weekend due to covid shortages but we really didn’t feel it and the staff were so pleasant and friendly. I really love that you can order drinks/food from the bar and have it delivered poolside. Not many hotels allow you to eat/drink by the pool. We also enjoyed the buffet breakfast, plenty of variety to choose from. The location of this hotel was great, located right on the boardwalk, walking distance to the marina where we found some nice restaurants, ice cream and cafes. Will definitely stay here again!

Dear SuzySanaa, Thank you so much for such lovely feedback on both our Hotel and teams. It is always great to hear our guests have had an amazing stay and visit to Newcastle. Our King rooms are great for families and very spacious with the separated bedroom and living spaces. Unfortunately covid-19 has affected some of our services and staffing levels however we are doing our best to not have this affect our guests stays and I am glad this did not impact your family to much on this occasion. Thank you again for such a lovely review and I look forward to welcoming you back again on your next occasion in Newcastle. Kind Regards, Reece.M

Spent 3 nights here and had an enjoyable experience. It is in a great location and within easy walking distance to great restaurants. The staff were pleasant and the pool is great. The only negatives were the difficulty with carparking and that our room could do with a makeover.

Cleanliness could of been better, had a couple of cockroaches in the room. We rang for room service to be done, had to ring 2 days later to get the room cleaned. But all in all it was a pleasant stay. If I was to be real picky, the rooms could do with an upgrade/refresh.
