Poor service not up to the standard. Initially I booked Queen room. When I checked in reception charged me $50 extra for king size bed which I never asked or agreed. I did received a call from team member after i made the booking, if I want to upgrade and i said no. -At check in not much information about hotel operation was provided only we are open until 6pm due to Christmas use room key to access the door and etc. not information provided about restaurants hours. - I was traveling with my 8 moths old baby, initially i did asked them for higher ( 1st floor) but didn't knew that have to use stairs twice to get in to my room. If i would have been at the reception surely offered room which is close to lift or even recommended for ground floor for easy access which i did when i was working at reception. -Room was not clean properly. Found girl's nail in the room, dust above TV cabinet. Not recommended. …
Grand facade with impressive entrance. Stayed in a room with a colleague that had one queen and two singles. Furniture in the room looked like it had been hobbled together from car boot sales, no continuity, weirdest set of furniture I've ever had in a hotel room. The TV was in a piece of furniture that did not allow others in the room to view it, only the queen bed could see it. The queen bed mattress was bowed, must've seen a great deal of action since the hotel opened and my colleague said it was shocking to sleep on. The single wasn't too bad. The floor creaked all the time no matter how lightly you moved about, there was no making it to the toilet in the night without it sounding like a scene from a horror film. It was just dreadful. There was no milk in the fridge for a morning tea and reception was closed - this is inexcusable. The heater in the room didn't work that well and the room was brutally cold. The light globes didn't work in a number of light fixtures, there was also a light outside the window that shone in through the curtains. The shower temperature was poor, didn't need the cold tap at all, pressure was good. There was one person operating the bar, bringing food to tables in the dining room, answering the telephone, booking in guests and taking payment for orders. Getting served on occasion at the bar was hit and miss. Food in the restaurant was good, about on par price-wise as one would expect in similar hotels. This is not the expected standard of a Mercure Hotel. Everything about this place suggested it was being operated at minimal cost right across the board to the detriment of the guest's overall comfort. Will never stay here again.…
We stayed three time in last one year. Each time we stayed had the Best experience. Staff is very friendly specially the receptionist Monique her Beautiful smile and warm welcome was amazing. Really recommend staying there. Best service
This is the second time I have stayed here as I wanted to give the hotel another chance. Unfortunately I was disappointed again. This hotel is branded as a Mercure yet having stayed at many other Mercure's I do not know how? Room had a lingering smoke smell, suspicious stain on the curtains and to my horror at night I discovered there was a flood light outside my window so the curtains were not block out. Whilst I love the heritage building and majestic look of the place this was not conducive to a good nights sleep.
We recently stayed here with our small children and parents, we absolutely loved our room, the ceilings were so high and the bathrooms were very well equipped. The staff at reception and around the hotel were very very friendly and helpful. I absolutely loved the vintage look of the hotel, the view from the restaurant is gorgeous! They just installed a new pool and spa, however due to Covid it was temporarily shut down. Very excited to return to this hotel once covid is over to enjoy the sounds of the gorgeous grand piano in the bar area and check out the new spa! Definitely a home away from home...enjoy your stay!
This is not our first time at this property and it certainly will not be our last. Since falling under the Mecure banner it has undergone a refurbishment that has made a great property even better. The Executive Spa Suite is fantastic for a romantic night away with plenty of room, a very comfortable king size bed and a newly refurbished bathroom. Easy check in with friendly staff, free wifi that works well and plenty of on site free parking. Room rates are reasonable and it is close to the wineries and Newcastle.
We stayed here for my Birthday and what was meant to be our Wedding Day. I had read some of the previous reviews and was a little nervous. What we got was a really great product we were warmly greeted upon our arrival. The room was spacious and big and the Bathroom has been renovated everything you need for a country getaway. We had breakfast included in our rate and due to Covid this was served ala carte not buffet the food was well cooked it was fresh and very rustic but it ticks the bosses. We had dinner in the restaurant on the 2nd night i had the steak and found it extremely tasty my partner’s vegetarian pasta was a little bit of a let down but still extremely tasty. We had a great experience and would definitely return in the future.
