Stayed here for one night after 3 nights at the Hilton the week before. Close to the Airport, but a longer taxi ride to town. There is a water taxi every hour or two, but does not always run, so it’s bus ($2) or other. My room was good, nice comfortable bed, with view of the lake as a Gold Member upgrade. Room is smaller than Hilton room and no balcony. You have to go next door for food, but the quality is excellent, both breakfast buffet or dinner. Pool is also next door, spa still does not work (a week later). Staff are pleasant and helpful. Quite expensive for a Doubletree, but Queenstown very busy this time of year.

Close and easy to get to from the Queenstown Airport. There is plenty of car parking available, both undercover for $16 per night. Great location on the lake. There is a water taxi at the hotels to access over to the main Queenstown centre. The prices are not cheap but Queenstown accommodation is not cheap. As a Hilton Gold Member there were not a lot on offer compared to other properties. Staff were friend really and the room had everything that was required.

Not ideal. We booked this thinking it was the other Hilton. While the room was spacious and well stocked, there were no services onsite, we had to walk to the other Hilton for food & bar services. Also the shower water vacillated from very cold to very hot.

Hilton and Doubletree are next to each other and you get to use both features. Upon checking, Aldrich took such great care of us. He is the best!!! Our room was delightful, and the restaurant service was exceptional. We highly recommend staying here.

We had a lovely stay at the Hilton. We were greeted by Victor who was friendly and efficient . We were also able to check in early. Please note if you have a rental car (get one it will give you freedom to explore)There eus a paid parking 16.00 for 24 hours. There is free parking if you manage to get a park but most likely will be taken when you get back. First in first served. The room was nice but the view of the carpark could have been better. But you get what you paid for. The balcony is almost non-existent it's so small as the air con unit takes up most of the space. But it Is nice to have the door open to let the breeze flow through the room. The bed was very comfortable and a king double made for the best sleep I have ever had! The buffet breakfast was lovely with just about everything you could imagine being on offer. So many alternative options for every diet and intolerances available. Tip 1: BREAKFAST: Get to the buffet early as it starts to peak at 9. There are no assigned seating so don't leave your table once you get one. We made the error of both going up to get our food we came back and our seat was taken. But we managed to get a better one with a view of the lake! There is so much to do on the Hilton compound there a swimming pool, gym, movie theatre, games room, restaurants, bike hire, nature walks and a sea taxi to take you into queenstown city the schedule is pretty often it's 20.00 there and back. The Hilton is a 10 min ride to the airport and a 15 min drive to the Frankton shopping center where you will find Kmart,The Warehouse or Pak n save and lots of other stores. It's also a quick 20 min drive into queenstown city. Finding Parking is a bit problematic in the city, however, there are parking buildings around but be prepared to pay about $16. Tip 2 leave a little early as there is traffic in the mornings we figured out some side street shortcuts to bypass the morning traffic. Tip 3: If you want to get a Ferg burger go early as the line is crazy! There is also Fergs bakery which is just as good! Tip 4: Gondola and Luge: At the moment there is some work being carried out and parking is minimal. But there is a parking spot on the turn off before the holiday inn on the left. It's a side street, drive to the end and you will find ample parking and a slight uphill walk on the way back. Do not think there is parking on the right side street by the entrance of the gondola that is for the school kindy that is located on the same grounds. If you have mobility issues be aware at the moment you will need to walk on scaffolding to get to the luge there are a few steps but mostly downhill. Be careful of the loose gravel on your way down as we saw someone fall over walking on the stones. The walk back is steep and uphill with a few stairs so if mobility is a slight issue be informed. The view is incredible truly stunning as you walk down to the luge. The gondola view was awesome! And the lookout at the top was breath-taking! Tip 5: There are lockers there that you can put your bags in should you need to. Otherwise wearing a small bag across your body is wise. You will need to show your tickets each time you ride the luge and again when you are going back down the gondola so keep your tickets accessible unless you have it on your phone. TIP 6: Real NZ jet boat. We absolutely loved the thrill of the jet boat ride and our driver was both skilled and Informative as we drove through queenstown lakes. We only booked a 25 min ride thinking that was enough but it went by so quickly. The 1 hour is much better value for money and adventure. Be aware you will get wet but you will dry quickly on a sunny queenstown day. The step into and out of the boat is a big step so getting someone to help you in and out would be good if you have mobility issues or a bit unsteady. Also sitting second row from the back seemed to the best position to sit on the jet boat. One lady who sat right up front did not enjoy her experience at all. We had little kids in our ride and at first they were scared then they enjoyed it. So families would enjoy the ride with their kids. Tip 7: There are a few toilets along the Esplanade on each end. There are alot of water activities to do and it's a full day of fun for the kids with paddle boarding bike floats, jet skiing etc. You can picnic on the sand or by the restaurants along the lake. Lots of places to eat at or buy the vendor food along the esplanade. Food is a bit pricy but the view is stunning! Make sure to explore the side streets and walk ways as you will find hidden eatery gems! We love Queenstown and we will be back to ski in Winter!

We wanted to stay close to the airport, a short drive to town, with easy access to the highway towards Te Anau/Milford Sound. This hotel ticked all the boxes. At first arrival, we entered the parking lot and noticed how tight and small the parking spots were. After an elevator ride up to the lobby, we met with staff who were very professional and kind. We went to our room which was nice and updated, had a great view, and a spacious floor plan. We did have an issue with the sink, where it was clogged when we got to the room. While we went to visit Queenstown, a staff member unclogged the sink but didn’t clean it so when we arrived back, the residue from the clogging was still in the sink. A disappointment, and ironically a perk, was the small balcony. Most of the small balcony was used up by an air conditioner. The positive is you had a nice view of the mountains and Queenstown. The bed was large and comfortable. The couch, living area, and kitchen were really nice. We really enjoyed the shower and took advantage of the hot water while we had it. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The DoubleTree cookies are always a plus too.

This is beautiful place if you have access to the next door Hilton. No other amenities in the hotel. Restaurant closed. Rooms are nice and have balcony but cant be used because too small and air conditioning unit. Settup not like normal doubletree but a bonus is a small kitchen. Only one restaurant available otherwisr have to drive 15 min to queenstown. Felt like more overflow hotel. We stayed once for 3 days then another day before flying out. Had to waste 30 min going between hotels to findout where they put us. Also No outlet plugs to charge stuff in bedroom. Love the Hilton and stayed many times.

Our Lakeview room had a series of defects. The phone did not work, neither did the TV, the sink would not drain water, the shower curtain was torn off the railing, the room looked like it had not been vacuumed nor dusted and the balcony had empty beer bottle awaiting collection. Having complained to the duty manager he switched our room to an alternate cheaper room. However, this room too was dirty and needed dusting and vacuuming. We thought we deserved a glass of wine to get over this but found that the wine glasses provided were filthy and needed cleaning prior to use. ( so much for Covid safety) Having returned from Queenstown we then found that we were locked out and had to get our entry cards reprogrammed . However, the icing on the cake was that we found that the king size bed had no mattress protector, we called reception and housekeeping and got no reply. Additionally, both rooms had a trip hazard into the bathrooms which could do serious injury for those using the bathroom at night The hotel prides itself cleanliness in its advertising, but this stay was just woeful and housekeeping should be given lessons on how to present rooms properly. The duty manager advised that the hotel was about to be refurbished but this is no excuse to drop standards. Having left the hotel I was given a survey form to respond to and I listed all of the above but to date have not had any response but do I really expect any follow up ? DO NOT STAY HERE, even if the hotel is refurbished because the staff will still be the same without proper training .

The views from the hotel are great and it’s away from the busyness of central Queenstown. However, the bathroom had a horrible mould smell that was coming off the shower curtains on the window side - they are covered in mould on the bottom 1/6th of the curtain The room was also dusty and had an occasional loud vibrating noise behind the wall that sounded like a washing machine on spin - that only happened 3-4 times a day for 3-5 minutes. Had returned after a very good experience 4 years ago, however, unfortunately the hotel has declined and I won’t be returning.

The hotel is in a peaceful setting and convenient to the activities in Queenstown. Our room overlooked Lake Wakatipu. There is a ferry that picks you up at the hotel and takes you to Queenstown. The room was clean, breakfast -delicious and staff super friendly. We will definitely stay here again.
