we booked this motel to be close to the transalpine train station worst idea i ever had .upon arriving we opened the door it was freezing cold the toilet was broken the electric blanket didn't work the lights didn't work .it was very basic and wouldn't say it was cheap either .my message to the company who owns this motel you seriously need to do some maintained .The windows were bleeding moister before it was even cold .It was that damp we were there for 4 days had the heaters going all the time and even had to ask for another blow heater as the room was so cold .but they did fix the toilet and the lights replaced the electric blanket etc but this should of been done before we arrive just a lack of caring must say staff are very friendly and are the only thing good about this place and to my surprise the bed was the best I've slept on .we have been to many motels in nz this was bad .after reading others comments its best you dont go there full stop save yourself the hassle…
My wife and I had to do an overnight business trip in Christchurch and the Towers was the perfect place to park up. Dead handy to town, Joyful on Riccarton for a quick takeaway dinner, Hagley park for morning run, Westfield for last minute shopping, and close to arterial route to head away. The room was neat and clean, and special thanks to Sirena at the front desk for making the booking smooth and easy - terrific customer service. Will be back - highly recommended.
16 Over 60's cricketers stayed at the Towers recently for 6 nights while in Christchurch playing in a national cricket tournament. Towers was prefect for us...close by Hagley Park, clean and tidy and the staff could not do enough for us....many thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.
The hotel is located across the road from Hagley Park; the town centre is on the other side of the park. We received a warm welcome from reception for our 2-night stay and had a nice en-suite room with 2-Queen beds, a separate kitchenette, TV etc. Tea/coffee and milk are supplied; breakfast is not available here but you can go to their sister hotel not far away for breakfast. We also had a 3rd night booked for later in the month. When Covid-19 struck we retuned to the hotel earlier than planned and they brought forward our booking at no extra cost. With flights cancelled we had to stay for a further two nights and were given a preferential rate. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.
We had two separate one night stays. The first we had travelled from Melbourne our first trip to New Zealand from the U.K. Check in lady was pleasant and room was fine, basic but fine. It’s a long walk to the town from this hotel about 2 - 3 miles, if you want to walk in and eat. Coming back was a nightmare as it was pitch black through the park and we got completely lost. On check out we had a horrible couldn’t give a dam older lady. We asked if we could leave our luggage as our flight was only a couple of hours later. She said oh yeah and didn’t have any safe facilities to leave them. Just standing alone to one side. On returning I asked if I could use the toilet before going to the airport which she replied ‘no go use the hotel down the road’. What kind of an answer is that for goodness sake? She was incredibly rude and quite hostile. Our second booked night we had a lovely check in lady but the room stank of smoke, so we had to moved to another room. All in all book somewhere else. …
We arrived mid morning after a long flight. There was no room ready, and when I asked about a toilet I was told there were none there and sent on a hike to the middle of the botanic garden! If the rooms were not ready, I could have used a loo! If a room had been cleaned, we could have had it! I was so tired this welcome was not helpful. The room itself was adequate but very tired. You had to fish around for a cable to get the fridge to work, pull it in front of the fridge and plug it in above the work surface. Wouldn’t want to stay here again. There are lots of motels in Christchurch
Having arrived a bit early we were advised to go for a walk into town and return after 2pm. Well it’s a long walk into town so we returned towards 3pm. Different girl, insisted on having the voucher which had to be retrieved from locked suitcase in boot. Not usually required. Whilst this was being fetched I was asked to give contact details and noticed that the room no we were to be allocated was written over a typexed one. Insistence on taking a credit card when all was paid for, and no further expenses required wrangled but gave the details. On arriving at our very poky dark under the staircase room, we were not amused. However reluctant to go back and demand different as only there for one night. Our late return obviously meant we were given a room already rejected by others. Room in sad state with only full curtains for privacy and constant activity up the stairs outside our room. Bathroom very tired, fridge really tiny, no kitchen sink or microwave, just kettle and toaster This was recommended and booked by our travel agent who will be advised of this review…
Greeted by a frosty none too caring receptionist, checked out by a lovely cheerful and very helpful lady. Our room was adequate and comfortable. Was in a good location just a 15 minute walk through the park to the city centre
Huge disappointment. Arrived at 3am due to delayed flight. Fortunately, a colleague had my room key. Room was hot! No fan and so poorly designed you can't get ventilation without opening the curtains fully so, zero privacy. Toilet seat broken upon arrival. Shower has 2 settings: scalding and melt your tattoo hot. Housekeeping very poor. Stayed 4 nights: 2 no trash emptied and bed not made. Floors not swept or vacuumed during entire stay. Older front desk clerk not exactly a joy... she thinks staying 4 nights should charge you for 5. No sense arguing, she's not very bright. Oh, but she's quick to tell you that you are "lucky" they have a room for you?? (what a joke). Office closes at 9pm so if you have an issue late you are S. O. O. L. If you set your standards really, really low you might not be disappointed. Spend the extra $$ and book across the street at the Double Tree. Towers is a semi glorified sleeping room. It is NOT a real hotel or motel. Only good point was young lady on evening desk duty was friendly and pleasant. Day shift employee was a waste of time. My suggestion is find a real hotel and avoid this mess. …
