I’ve rated this a 3* however my wife was lobbying for a 2*. It was the least favourite of all the hotels we had stayed in to date on our North island to South tour. The room was clean and functional and the bed was OK. However, as others have said, it doesn’t have aircon and it was a hot day in the city, so we needed all the windows open. There was a note to say you can request a fan from reception but that does close in the evening. The wifi is poor, dropping connection and requiring logins the next morning. It was the only hotel in NZ where a FaceTime call to the UK couldn’t complete. Worth noting that if you have a room on the second level there are some stairs to negotiate with luggage - we didn’t see any lifts and weren’t told of any when given the room. Whilst it’s by the Botanic gardens it is quite a walk into central Christchurch - we ate at the Curator’s House on the other side of the gardens and it was a 25 minute walk.

Very poor service from reception. And you are required to pay a bond (apparently $150) that is not mentioned in the booking confirmation even if stay is paid in full prior to arrival. Most hotels use credit cards on arrival as security - though this hotel has "a different policy" - bond amount could be totally made up as it is not in the confirmation anywhere to be found. Didn't feel comfortable that this place now got my credit card details. Result: we found another great hotel to stay in for one night even closer to the city centre with excellent service and standard hotel policies. Room for improvement and customer service policy review :)

The most comfortable bed and pillows, which led to a great night’s sleep. Nice spacious room, with a kitchen area, microwave, plates etc. the staff were very helpful and friendly. Close to lots of restaurants. I recommend the Thai Orchard.

Spent 3 nights here and stayed in one of the end apartments. There was lots of room but there were a few negatives. The kitchen was lacking enough facilities to cook with, several of the power points did not work and there was no SKY TV. Do not get a room that faces the Park as there is alo of vehicle noise at night.

we booked this motel to be close to the transalpine train station worst idea i ever had .upon arriving we opened the door it was freezing cold the toilet was broken the electric blanket didn't work the lights didn't work .it was very basic and wouldn't say it was cheap either .my message to the company who owns this motel you seriously need to do some maintained .The windows were bleeding moister before it was even cold .It was that damp we were there for 4 days had the heaters going all the time and even had to ask for another blow heater as the room was so cold .but they did fix the toilet and the lights replaced the electric blanket etc but this should of been done before we arrive just a lack of caring must say staff are very friendly and are the only thing good about this place and to my surprise the bed was the best I've slept on .we have been to many motels in nz this was bad .after reading others comments its best you dont go there full stop save yourself the hassle

My wife and I had to do an overnight business trip in Christchurch and the Towers was the perfect place to park up. Dead handy to town, Joyful on Riccarton for a quick takeaway dinner, Hagley park for morning run, Westfield for last minute shopping, and close to arterial route to head away. The room was neat and clean, and special thanks to Sirena at the front desk for making the booking smooth and easy - terrific customer service. Will be back - highly recommended.

The hotel is located across the road from Hagley Park; the town centre is on the other side of the park. We received a warm welcome from reception for our 2-night stay and had a nice en-suite room with 2-Queen beds, a separate kitchenette, TV etc. Tea/coffee and milk are supplied; breakfast is not available here but you can go to their sister hotel not far away for breakfast. We also had a 3rd night booked for later in the month. When Covid-19 struck we retuned to the hotel earlier than planned and they brought forward our booking at no extra cost. With flights cancelled we had to stay for a further two nights and were given a preferential rate. The staff were excellent and nothing was too much trouble.

We had two separate one night stays. The first we had travelled from Melbourne our first trip to New Zealand from the U.K. Check in lady was pleasant and room was fine, basic but fine. It’s a long walk to the town from this hotel about 2 - 3 miles, if you want to walk in and eat. Coming back was a nightmare as it was pitch black through the park and we got completely lost. On check out we had a horrible couldn’t give a dam older lady. We asked if we could leave our luggage as our flight was only a couple of hours later. She said oh yeah and didn’t have any safe facilities to leave them. Just standing alone to one side. On returning I asked if I could use the toilet before going to the airport which she replied ‘no go use the hotel down the road’. What kind of an answer is that for goodness sake? She was incredibly rude and quite hostile. Our second booked night we had a lovely check in lady but the room stank of smoke, so we had to moved to another room. All in all book somewhere else.

Dear julesd7, We regret that we did not meet your expectations during your stay with us and thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We are located 3km from the city centre and we do have large shopping facilities close by. There is a lit path through the park that remains on the entire night and our staff are always more than happy to help with maps. We will be speaking with the receptionist in regards to your comments as we do agree that this is not acceptable. We apologize for the inconvenience caused on your second night and hope to have this resolved by moving rooms. Once again thank you for your feedback and we wish you all the best on your onward travels.

We arrived mid morning after a long flight. There was no room ready, and when I asked about a toilet I was told there were none there and sent on a hike to the middle of the botanic garden! If the rooms were not ready, I could have used a loo! If a room had been cleaned, we could have had it! I was so tired this welcome was not helpful. The room itself was adequate but very tired. You had to fish around for a cable to get the fridge to work, pull it in front of the fridge and plug it in above the work surface. Wouldn’t want to stay here again. There are lots of motels in Christchurch
